Man I used to play this song in my room mako all the sounds 😂 What a great era to be alive!! Glad I was part of it!! 2021!! Who's here going down memory lane?
Thank goodness for youtube! This was an era when everybody danced. Even if you couldn't, you at least tried. Exciting times to practice pop locking and unique break dance moves. Wow! I'll never forget the wonderful memories. Play at your own risk.
One of the first tracks I ever bought as a kid of 8 in the local record store in Kent England! Right after I bought Planet Rock as my Dad was buying all the Frank Zappa CD’s as CD’s had just come out lol! Happy days - love it!!
You must have got a repress of Planet rock, cd's weren't in any record stores in Kent until many years after when Planet rock first released. Cd's didn't filter into stores straight away it took quite a while before stores had them I'd say not until the late 80's I'm sure I hadn't seen one until the ideal home expo in about 87-88
We use to take cardboard boxes from behind the grocery store at the bus stop and battle way back in the day. We didn't have big ghetto blasters going to school, but we pirated music from the radio and played it on a little cassette player and did what we could. Lots of poppin and lockin, and I remember to this day when my friend Mike pulled off a windmill and he was our king for the year.
In a recent interview with Mr Wave, he talked about how intense this battle actually got. To the point the directors had to step in. His reaction to Doze jumping in at 01:16 was 100% authentic. Shout out to the legendary New York City Breakers (Beat Street) and the legendary Rock Steady Crew (Bronx Rockers)
I grew up dancing and battling during the You Got Served/Stomp The Yard era but Beat Street also got me fired up at the time. The scene is very much alive and well but due to Covid, outdoor sessions at my area became scarce. Hopefully I'll get back into it one day
This is great! This is what was happening when i was a teenager. I cant remember anyone i ever knew getting shot in senseless violence..this is how they battled. These guys are just incredible! Loved it. Thank you
Anthony Morales. Lol your lucky! I was born in the new era. All these new Rappers are not like the ones in the 80s. Happy my dad can show me them though. At least I have him. Heheh
i remember me ,and my cousin riding through the neighborhood on our BMX bikes. He would tie his massive boom box to the handle bars..Blasting out this song ,and many others..We thought we were so cool..Great times.
What an era for music! Back in the day, my brother and I owned and operated large laundromats with video arcade rooms. We pumped this song throughout the stores. It was a favorite with the young people playing games and our laundromat customers.
The good ol day's 4 sure!!!! Everybody dressed accordingly, everybody ( for the most part ) got along, parties were funny n clean. Lot's of dancing and break dancing. The music was killer back then. It was easy and clean. Glad was able to experience that. Gracias a Dios!!!! Enjoy......
Flyyyy Asfff!!! Adoreeee the footwork !!!! 1:39 he is definitely the best imo. 3:36 has good footwork. Really light on his feet. 0:29 is really fly too.

I had the 12 inch album
Aging will always reflect and claim an era where that time was it's best. This era was by far "the flavor in your ear"
I was born in the mid 60s I miss all the good music I don't know what the hell they doing these days yasssssssss yasssssssss
Thank goodness for youtube! This was an era when everybody danced. Even if you couldn't, you at least tried. Exciting times to practice pop locking and unique break dance moves. Wow! I'll never forget the wonderful memories. Play at your own risk.
This was the jam
Brings back lots of memories
Lots of fun and good times
Guido music. I am 54. I am so happy, i grew up with this music and dance style. A simpler time. No guns or knives. Just your dancing moves.
One of the most important songs in hip hop
I'm 31 and yearning for a time I didn't live in. This is amazing.
Cd's didn't filter into stores straight away it took quite a while before stores had them I'd say not until the late 80's
I'm sure I hadn't seen one until the ideal home expo in about 87-88
Omg I remember those days! Yes wow I just miss this so much!
Take me back to my childhood can't get no better
We use to take cardboard boxes from behind the grocery store at the bus stop and battle way back in the day. We didn't have big ghetto blasters going to school, but we pirated music from the radio and played it on a little cassette player and did what we could. Lots of poppin and lockin, and I remember to this day when my friend Mike pulled off a windmill and he was our king for the year.
Pole position, bebe! Where are my old breakers at? Yes! Bebe! Yes!
This some of the best ever ever.
Can you link that interview
@@nickrock23 Okay, at work rn. But I'll look for it later...
I don’t know why, the red crew clearly smoked those dorks wearing blue jeans.
@@twatts1523 Those "dorks" are part of a legendary crew. For some reason, they only had a few menbers, who weren't the best, repping in this scene.
I’m a 86 baby but thanks to my Unc R.I.P Bulldog for taking us skating and showing me what it do ✊🏾✊🏾💯💯
I grew up dancing and battling during the You Got Served/Stomp The Yard era but Beat Street also got me fired up at the time. The scene is very much alive and well but due to Covid, outdoor sessions at my area became scarce. Hopefully I'll get back into it one day
Over the decades I've watched this battle so many times but it never gets old. 45 now but I bet when I'm 55,65,75 I will still be watching!!
ME TOO
55 and remember it like yesterday

Walking down the street with a box radio in one hand and a piece of cardboard in the other hand. When the cardboard hit the ground the battle started.

I loved your comment and laughed out loud
You "thought" you were cool? Well, that's because you were/are.
Everyone carried boom boxes😂
What an era for music! Back in the day, my brother and I owned and operated large laundromats with video arcade rooms. We pumped this song throughout the stores. It was a favorite with the young people playing games and our laundromat customers.
The good ol day's 4 sure!!!! Everybody dressed accordingly, everybody ( for the most part ) got along, parties were funny n clean. Lot's of dancing and break dancing. The music was killer back then. It was easy and clean. Glad was able to experience that. Gracias a Dios!!!! Enjoy......

The music was nothing like you never heard, a secret world to be you and be in the moment. Back In the Day!
Clean yea just weed and beer
And unprotected you know.
You expressed that perfectly
Then the CIA f'd it all up with crack
Black or White.......everyone was welcome!
If only we could go back to those days.
Miss those days. It was never a thing...
@Johnny Rutz they're were some whites too. I was there I've seen a lot of unity back then
@@GeriDoc8 its still unified, the media is conflating a non issue. Blacks and whites with common sense are full of love.
@@NotAsGoodAsItUsedToBe I agree. I wasn't debating I was clarifying that the dancers weren't all "PUERTO RICAN" lol. Peace Bro
Flyyyy Asfff!!! Adoreeee the footwork !!!! 1:39 he is definitely the best imo. 3:36 has good footwork. Really light on his feet. 0:29 is really fly too.
