For the same reason, you start looking for and creating other ways to develop yourself in life, because what was your passion or what is, does not give you everything you need as a person. Marine Jahan was Jennifer Beals' body double for the dancing scenes. Jahan was kept hidden from the press because the filmmakers did not want to ruin the illusion. Alex's leap through the air in the audition scene was done by gymnast Sharon Shapiro and the break-dancing was done by Crazy Legs.

This will ever and always be one of the scenes that capture the 80s. It never fails to amaze me how toned and fit Jennifer Beals' and Marine Jahan (Beals body double in this scene) are. Peak conditioning. I'm sure this one scene alone inspired young dancers for decades, and I bet it still does.
I never knew she had a body double for this scene. But yes they’re both super fit & tone! I love that name Marine. Lol. Very fitting. I’m going to have to look her up
Yes, it is hard to believe. I'm about the same age as Jennifer Beals and so she was a role model for me when this movie came out. Women my age were all about the Flashdance look in those days!

One of my fav songs that continually inspires me. The key phrase that should inspire all of us in our personal lives is "Take YOUR passion and MAKE it happen". What ever your passionate about, do what it takes to make it happen. Life is not a dry run.
That ending is just wonderful and incredibly beautiful! She makes it successfully at the audition and I love the way he's waiting for her outside with her dog and a bouquet of roses, makes me cry everytime! I wish I'd meet a man like that! Only beautiful dreams we see in films.
What I find intriguing is the fact that whoever is dancing, they are in top physical shape. You can see how much her body is conditioned, the muscular tone. Truly spectacular.

The 80s had some good movies, good music, good times and I remember this store called Erols and then it became like Blockbuster and Tower Records, Sam Goody, the malls were cooler and everyone had jobs, and they had the best movies by John Hughes which are now instinct classics and Michael Jacksons's Thriller in 1982 was the #1 Album to buy and everyone wanted to be like Madonna when she had her Like A Virgin Tour, and Madonna was wayy better than Lady Ga Ga who is trying to be LIKE Madonna, The weather wasn't crazy, the schools didn't have police officers patroling the schools, kids were bullyed but nothing major and texting was passing little notes around in some classes and the Female Teachers didn't look like Models they were ACTUALLY teachers, The kids would sing and dance and everything was personal and not out in the open like Cell Phones, Texting, Selfies, Cameras watching your every move and schools didn't have graveyards and we didn't have any major shootings, and we had video arcades, and Wargamers and board games like Dungeouns and Dragons, which was like Warcraft for us back in the day, Birthday parties was going to your friends house and singing and dancing on MTV when MTV was MTV, birthday cake and small gifts unlike today its MY SUPER SWEET 16 I want a BMW, Media Room, A new Closet of Clothes with the latest styles, and I can tell my parents to fuck off whenever I need too, and I am super cool with all my friends who are actually POSERS, LOSERS, LEACHES, WANNABES and these are the girls in High School I am talking about Cheerleaders were ACTUALLY Cheerleader in High School with Sweaters, Leg warmers, and Pomp Pomps and now Cheerleaders act like Sexy Kittens Parents back in the 1980s had jobs, and they let their younger kids go outside and play and be with their friends and when Halloween came around, All The kids went trick o Treating WITHOUT Their parents, and Parents can take their TV away, and Stereo if kids or teenagers mis behaved and now ... I remember when i first saw this.. I felt such an incredible exhilaration as if I were the one doing the final dance number...years later this scene still moves me...a triumphant moment for a young woman brimming with talent. Fantastic movie
I can't believe having watched this scene and the movie ten's of times, I still tear up when she gets her s together and cranks out the performance of her lifetime.
I used to dance like this back in the 80’s! Doing the number dive tuck roll on hard floors. Now I’m so full of arthritis I can barely move some days. Sure felt great at the time. My friend and I were in love with this show and would make our own dances for our school talent. Crazy times.
Thank you for sharing!! 80's were a great time! Could go outside, be out there til dark goofing off! It felt more safe back then. Although, I remember the Adam Walsh story opened my eyes to the darkness in the world, that poor boy... What about all the music vids on MTV! Goodness my parents didn't want us watching that .but we did when we could!! We actually learned from teachers..didn't get project after project like the kids do now. College was a time that we learned how to teach ourselves. The kids in high school today are learning that. This coming from an inner city math teacher. I got sick in 2018 and had to give up teaching, but I still taught our kids then, as did my colleagues...my kids were in middle school. But now in highschool, all I hear about is the next project...or the video they watched in math class..what?!? No computers or cell phones were around for us. Did research in a library, not on a phone..and the ...movies my gosh were as awesome as the music! Our kids love the 80s music and movies, and Today, our kids now 17 and 15, both think being a kid in the 80s would've been better than being a kid now! How many movies have been redone at this point? It's like there is no more magic in Hollywood. They think remaking a great movie is a great idea...nope! Sooo mamu smiles and laughs!!! Gosh..and our hair back in the day! Lol, the hairspray we used! Soo many wonderful memories!! ;)
🥺😩😣 Rest in Power Irene Cara. Your music was a wonderful part of my childhood. This is so sad. It seems like everyone is just vanishing before my eyes. This month alone we’ve lost Kevin Conroy (Batman), Jason David Frank (The Green Ranger), and now Irene Cara, the singer whose voice exemplified the glorious 80s. You will be sorely missed Irene.
The dancer is Marine Jahan and the athletic moves were done by Sharon Shapiro. Considering this is a 40 years old movie it's amazing how well they synchronized the body doubles, it really looked like Jennifer Beals was the one dancing and performing those stuns.
It's Ellie let me teach you a little bit of history too... when Alexander the Great went from Macedonia to conquer successfully the known world at that time Bulgaria was not even existed. I am sure Bulgaria has great history as all countries have their own history and should learn it before they try to teach people from other countries their history. Let alone the Greek history which shaped the western civilization as we know it today.

A história de uma dançarina de cabaré que se apaixonou por um empresário.
I remember that lol. Also smoking and non smoking at restaurants, it just seemed normal to me
Every time I see clips of this movie I still can’t get over the muscle tone she had!!!!!
Especially the man at 3:53
This will ever and always be one of the scenes that capture the 80s.
I’m going to have to look her up
You mean the actual dancer
Also the spin on the back was a dude. Not Jenifer or Marine.
@@netzajack Richard “Crazy Legs” Colón , u can see the beard 😁
I also heard that the dive trough the air before the land and spin was done by Sharon Shapiro, professional gymnast 🤸♀️
Hard to believe that this was 35 years ago.
Yes, it is hard to believe. I'm about the same age as Jennifer Beals and so she was a role model for me when this movie came out. Women my age were all about the Flashdance look in those days!
Its now 36 tho
I can believe it cuz of the vinyl
Holy flippin crap!!!!
Damn it , I was 30 then, now 65 pfffffffffffffff. Time flies. Try to use it well.
RIP Irene Cara 🙏🏼 you are gone from this world, but your beautiful voice will live on in our hearts forever… especially this song, since I was a child, I often hear it till now… you are a legend…

Великолепно! Можно смотреть бесконечно❤😊
何度見ても素晴らしい
Dai dai dai Ferretti, ma ti ricordavo diverso!
I haven’t seen any dancing scenes as touching and inspiring like this.
that leap scene is STILL INCREDIBLE! THANKS TO SHARON SHAPIRO, the double who did that stunt on behalf of Beals
Yes @andrew chambers . The double for her during the breakdance was actually a male hip hop dancer named Crazy Legs. Serious!
paraka potana move gujrati
From IMDB: Marine Jahan was Jennifer Beals' body double for the dancing scenes. Jahan was kept hidden from the press because the filmmakers did not want to ruin the illusion. Alex's leap through the air in the audition scene was done by gymnast Sharon Shapiro and the break-dancing was done by Crazy Legs. Jahan appeared in the music video for "Maniac". (Crazy Legs is a man)

Truly, 80's music have a very deep impact in our emotions.
You can't feel the same in nowdays song
Love the 80s but do not miss the smoking everywhere... looks crazy how many of us got so much second hand smoking back in those days
One of the greatest scenes in movie history.
In 2019 but can't shake 80s off best time for music and dance 1❤
Yes, the 70's and the 80's I'd say !
90s better
100% agreed. I loved the 80's -- Lionel Richie, M. Jackson and Cindy Lauper -- so many great music stars.

What a Song.......the Pre 2000 music belongs to a different league altogether when compared to the Shit they make these days. Lockdown and enjoying these Classics in India.

One of my fav songs that continually inspires me. The key phrase that should inspire all of us in our personal lives is "Take YOUR passion and MAKE it happen". What ever your passionate about, do what it takes to make it happen. Life is not a dry run.

O que eu mais gosto nessa música, é a escala que ela vai fazendo, começa tranquila e vai subindo o tom até chegar no ápice, top demais!!

The lighting in that audition room is perfect, with the interplay between shafts of light and shadow adding to the routine.
The Director will be glad to hear you approve.

😢😢😢RIP❤Irene Cara❤as a dancer this was such an inspirational movie❤ Irene was such a gifted singer. Gone too soon😢
I remember my mom having this movie on when I was a little girl I sit down to watch it with her and I really liked it. When I became a teenager I watched the movie again and loved it even more I love it just as much today as I did when I first watched. And my mom could never get tired of watching this she loved it . Yes Aimee. miss the 80's too
The 80s had some good movies, good music, good times and I remember this store called Erols and then it became like Blockbuster and Tower Records, Sam Goody, the malls were cooler and everyone had jobs, and they
had the best movies by John Hughes which are now instinct classics and Michael Jacksons's Thriller in 1982 was the #1 Album to buy and everyone wanted to be like Madonna when she had her Like A Virgin Tour, and Madonna was wayy better than Lady Ga Ga who is trying to be LIKE Madonna, The weather wasn't crazy, the
schools didn't have police officers patroling the schools, kids were bullyed but nothing major and texting was passing little notes around in some classes and the Female Teachers didn't look like Models they were ACTUALLY teachers, The kids would sing and dance and everything was personal and not out in the open like Cell Phones, Texting, Selfies, Cameras watching your every move and schools didn't have graveyards and we didn't have any major shootings, and we had video arcades, and Wargamers and board games like Dungeouns and Dragons,
which was like Warcraft for us back in the day, Birthday parties was going to your friends house and singing and dancing on MTV when MTV was MTV, birthday cake and small gifts unlike today its MY SUPER SWEET 16 I want a BMW, Media Room, A new Closet of Clothes with the latest styles, and I can tell my parents to fuck off whenever I need too,

Saudades desta época, em que os filmes eram simplesmente emocionantes. Não vejo emoção nos telões, nos filmes deste gênero, há algum tempo.
Concordo! Exatamente assim mesmo
Virou bacanal, acabou o romantismo.
Agora é tdo explícito, tira tda a fantasia.
É assim nas novelas nos filmes.

I feel like crying. It's already been almost 40 years since I watched a movie that touched my childhood.
