That Puerto Rican from Electro Rock played his part fantastically!! The look, the anger, the aggression, the confidence, the moves etc… were all superb! In order to have an awesome good guy(s), u must have an earth trembling bad guy who appears to render the good guy hopeless. Well, this Puerto Rican brought that energy to part 1 and built the intensity. Silent and cold like a shark ready to attack. Soon as Kelly got situated, he was like, “now is the time”… “take him down and embarrass him in front of his girl.” He uncoiled smoothly like a cobra, ready to strike. Masterpiece! The 80s!

R.i.p my uncle shaba doo . Aka ozone lol.
I was 11 when breakin came out along with bear Street.
Breakin came out 1st in uk here first as heard in usa beat street came out .
    But anyhow 2 great movies.
WATCHING Breakin at 11 you have to understand a kid who thought this guy am turbo was the greatest you've seen and to be inspired by these pioneers I'm ever so greatful to have grown up in an era where it was heaven . Society today is about social media the world's gone insane . If you wanted to find a girlfriend we did it the right way natural just go and talk to them now its all bout tinder its really crazy this sad generation . We never had ipads, phones, nothing just grew up dancing and listening to a hiphop culture that was original back then .
Back in the days it was natural fun with breakin on the streets for ur crew or your neighbourhood. Wars were settled in dancing not fighting. I am also so greatful I went to NYC and at the time I had family in the south bronx I stayed there saw all the graffiti trains and breakin on the streets . And new york back then was so different . Ppl where more friendly and easy going . LA had its legacy of breakin too as seen in this movie. And there own culture version like lockin and different street dancers like ozone . 84 summer was a very special time I'f anyone knows what I'm talking about give me a thumbs up lol. Xx R.I.P yeah your dancing in heaven my bro xx
You won't be forgotten that's for sure . Since Shaba doo died breakin the movie has roasted sales on amazon like crazy I heard lol. Not surprised . Yeah ill get it on blue ray right now lol.

This was a Mega-Hit For the Infamous Canon Pictures. The Studio had been in a neck and neck race to complete production before Orion Pictures could finish “Beat Street.” Budgeted at a mere $1Million, “Breakin” grossed an incredible $50million in 1984 money.

Ozone pop locking numerically rhythmically with the DJ scratching is a skill very very few can pull off! The 2:30 mark of the video.

You know whats funny? I've been rewatching this and I noticed that same thing. I used to think Ozone was a bit too wild but he definitely knew what he was doing. His style was still a bit off putting to some people but he had good musicality and control. Just not as technical as Turbo.
In the 2nd battle he also locks to the sound of the scratches right before they start.
