Half those "Ricans" were Italians...Jim Borrelli, Leo Grant, Guy Davis. Both Hip-Hop and Break Dancing was multi-cultural from the start because it came out of mixed areas. Heck, it was Michael Holman that started up the New York City Breakers crew that brought Break Dancing to world fame, coined the term Hip-Hop and even got these two movies made. The world really is slow.

Don't exaggerate or stereotype things that you see in a movie and compared them to real life situations. Not all gangs in the 80s resolved their beefs with dancing and rapping to each other. Not all gangs in the 80s did this type of stuff.

This was a subway battle, not a fight with no fists hitting one another and that was unfortunate that the police had to break up the battle between the two 2⃣ breakdance groups on the subway.
I think this scene is the inspiration that where Michael Jackson got the idea to shoot BAD Music video.....Coz it's so similarly with all this clip does anybody agreed😄
I use to ask myself that, but this is the early 80”s. Gangs were out heavily back then. From an outsider looking in they do look like they are engaging in some kinda of fight. It was a newly built station at the time.

🤙🏾🇨🇦
Lee was leader of his crew
Somebody should make a T-shirt with all the RSC members lined up and Legs giving Buck 4 some dap...
Still loks the same in 2023
For the movie probably was Lee as leader. I think Powerful Pexter or Chino (Action) were leaders of NY City Breakers though.
