Evidently you don't live in the rust belt. I am a tech in Chicago and these bearings need a lot more persuasion than hitting a few bolts from the back side to free it from the hub. Air hammers and sledge hammers at the minimum and you are still in for a work out !

I watched up until the 4:30 mark and stopped video because I decided I'm taking it into the shop. lol. Nice work on video.

Great to see minimal amount of parts removed for this and great tips.

I bought a ton of tools and ended up having to remove the knuckle which I broke and destroyed the backing plate. I did save the speed sensor 👍

Thanks for making this video. I'm about to replace another wheel bearing on my '15 at 140k mi after I already replaced both rears about 40k ago. It was a good refresher on what I need to do again

Helpful straight forward video. Thanks for creating it! Seems these bearings are one of the few things that go wrong with this vehicle. 128k on my 2017, and it started whining about 1k back. Thanks again.

Mine went out at 78k cause it was howling when I got it. I don't know what happened to this car.

I couldn't lift my car more than 18 inches off the ground so I ended up having to pull the knuckle off to get the leverage to pound the hub assembly bolts out the back, but it did work. 2015 Crosstrek. Apparently all years have the same setup.

I just watched my dad (who’s also a mechanic) do this same repair… my poor car 😅 I showed him that you took that play off and banged it off from there - he was like “nahh I got it” and he banged on it all assembled for 30 minutes… then he disassembled the emergency break.. then finally took that plate off and started banging on it…. 🤦🏾‍♂️ didn’t clean it like you did before putting it back together and he kind of forced and banged the whole thing back together… I need to start paying another mechanic 😅

We followed your video, and everything worked great until we start the car. Every warning light for the brake system was lit up. Don’t know what happened: ABS, the eyesight, cruise control won’t work, etc.
We did everything like you did even put the speed sensor incorrectly. Any ideas?

We did everything as in the video. Until we started the car, all the warning lights lit up for the brake system, the ABS, the cruise control the eyesight, nothing works. The car drives, but we don’t have all these things that we used to have. Any ideas the sensor was put in the right way? Anyway, any ideas?
