    How do you load the bipod if its on backwards and would basically close up?

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Harris bipod springs are very stiff. We’ve never had one close on anyone in this orientation, and we hunt a lot with 4 of these in the “backwards” position. Not saying others should do it this way, it definitely will fold with enough pressure, but this is the only way we mount them due to the orientation of the rifle racks in our atvs. We also probably load a lot lighter in most cases because we primary hunt feral hogs and are constantly moving, there’s not usually a lot of time to take a perfect shot.

    A really cool thing about a .308 is that it's fairly easy and forgiving to reload. There are all kinds of bullets, and a ton of powders that work well in the caliber.

    I've always wanted a .308 bolt gun and was looking at Savage or Ruger and until five hours ago I never heard or Bergara.
    Looks like I found the rifle for me. Great review/shooting!

      Savage and Ruger both do incredibly well too. While I don't own one personally, I've shot some of the recent offerings and I was very impressed with the Ruger and Savage bolts. I will say, in my opinion at least, the actions were not as smooth as the one on the HMR pro, but they were damn fine rifles. Sub moa no question.

    I myself like the way the bipod is on "backwards" folding back down the rifle as opposed to folding forwards. It balances better when shooting off hand with it
    " backwards". When hunting you may not have the chance to even use the bipod. No rule says you have to fold it forwards. Do it whatever way works for you and screw the so called experts.

    Im sure you know this, but that bipod is on backwards. When shooting with a bipod its common practice to load the bipod.
    If you were to do that with a reverse bipod it would fold on itself.
    You do you, but it's one of those things that makes peope go "uh oh" instead of "subbed!"

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  3 роки тому +3

      Indeed. The Harris bipods have never given me a problem backwards, and we use them this way because of how I carry rifles in transit while hunting (and a few other reasons). 👍
      For sure on the “subbed” comment haha. But when you spend as much time as we do carrying firearms around in various vehicles while actively hunting, this isn’t even considered backwards. It’s just another way to mount them that happens to fit a specific brand of gun rack better.

That definitely made the Bergara no fun at all to shoot. I got tired of wasting my time and ammo trying to sort out what was wrong with the Bergara and just sent it back to get them to look at it. In most reviews I see of the B-14 in 308, the 5-shot groups are between 1.5-2 MOA for the most part.
      I honestly wonder if they just use their customers as QC or if they keep a batch of rifles that are actually shooters on hand as replacements if someone complains. I doubt most people go through the hassle of returning their guns even if they aren't shooting well.
