What's really damning is if you watch the Netflix show dubbed in Japanese. With the exception of Unsho Ishizuka as Jet, the Japanese VAs from the anime dubbed the Netflix show, including Norio Wakamoto as Vicious and Gara Takashima as Julia. You know it's bad when by their acting, Wakamoto and Takashima are clearly like, "Fuck what am I supposed to do with this script?!"
You know what the original scene missed? Loud yelping, really helps with the serious mood and tone. Oh and julia showing up to shoot the bad guy dispatching him easily and being a total ass backwards version of herself motivation wise, that too.
The “loud yelping” shows that they aren’t super human and take damage. Being shot and/or stabbed by a sword hurts homie, I don’t know if you’re aware. When you say “ass backwards” do you mean they actually give something for her to do instead of popping up twice to do almost nothing and get killed?

Julia went into hiding to save Spike, and she feared and hated Vicious. Making her MARRY him, shoot Spike, then snip snap on Vicious setting her up to be the main villain isn't just the dumbest thing I've heard in my entire life, it's also like taking a hard long piss right on the source material. This is a fucking sham and a mockery, and if you can't see that then maybe you should stick to transformers movies or other poorly written action schlock and keep your wretched opinions to yourself since you seem to have 0 clue about bebop

Funny how the best scene in the show is just doing what the original did but with real people. Something they could’ve done for the entire show and made an excellent adaption

Yep, exactly. Admittedly, they did a phenomenal job on casting, but the directors are largely to blame. The directors made such weird choices in development of characters, Katerina & Asimov as well as Teddy Bomber being prime examples, where they got lazy and just cut out the important parts of their characters and what made them interesting. For Katerina, her story just becomes "oh rich girl running away hehe" and Teddy Bomber's "I just blow up things hehe".

It doesn't really change much about how their story ends up. Teddy Bommer is one of the ones that sucks since even in the original it was less about Teddy and more about Andy and he's not in the show. So they just use Bommer as B-plot to add to their needlessly extended Vicious storyline.

I think most of the gripes about this show certainly are aimed at the staff behind cameras. Many of the actors you could tell were giving this their all, some people genuinely tried hard to make this show faithful and good. Then there were a bunch of incompetent brats who thought they could "do better" and showed us just how incapable weak little snobs they are.

In the original, at this point, Viscious hoped, prayed he could mend his relationship with Spike at the last moment. He wanted him to see how similar they are, that they don't need to be enemies, that together they could rule the world, at which point Spike denounces all of that. He can't do it anymore, which is the catalyst for defenestrating the shit out of Spike. In this version... it's condescension. It's "wow I'm so right can't you see? you suck, k die". Not to mention the travesty after that moment, this is basic shit for any actual fan of the work. SMH
i find most others arguments of vicious being empty way off the mark too, and to simplify it so even a child could understand, vicious and julia were 2 halfs of spike personified, vicious WAS spikes darker side, and Julia was spikes lighter side, and through these 2 characters we peeled away spikes cool exterior to reveal this troubled past inside him that he was struggling to move on from. But the toddlers writing the adaptation clearly missed the mark and wrote something their childish minds could understand.
They nerfed Vicious too much in this Netflix version - If Spike were wielding something metallic instead of something wooden, he would have already killed this version of Vicious at 0:12

that's not the problem, the problem was hiring writers with about as much maturity as toddlers to try and depict an adults story. They butchered Spike, Vicious and Julia, they butchered the themes, lessons and meanings of cowboy bebop, and the worst part is these toddler writers arrogantly believed the things they "modernised" were IMPROVEMENTS to the show! But clearly they were just lousy at understanding the source material. It was much like rings of power, Peter Jackson ALREADY PROVED adapting Lord of the rings FAITHFULLY was possible. But the toddlers hired to put the rings of power together were too caught in their own ego' and propaganda to simply do a faithful adaptation. One Piece's live adaptation gives my point more proof, when the creator Oda retained creative control over the project, the adaptation was FAITHFUL, even if they couldn't carbon copy everything perfectly, fans of one piece ALL AGREE the adaptation had respect for the source material, it didn't put any misandrist or racist empowerment propaganda in there, it stuck to what one piece is supposed to be about. That is why people dislike the Cowboy Bebops adaptation, it is a unfaithful, disrespectful, butchered and crude mockery.

I actually had chills when they recited those lines from the anime, I don't even mind the silly backstory of Vicious and Julia, but when Julia turned Mad Queen, it just turned me off so bad.
They recited them in such a soulless , half hearted effort - and off tone & rhythm.

Pretty tight with Spike vs Vicious fighting but then Julia had to shoot them both to ruin this scene. Julia is married to Vicious and the Japan Anime is wayyyyyyyy better. I thought they were kidding about the live action of Cowboy Bebop. Spike Spiegel and Vicious were close until a woman came between them. I wonder what the voice actors think of Cowboy Bebop being made into a live action movie.

It's not bad...wat...what the fuck is your prob? Vicious looks insane. Spike takes on his inspirational likeness. The quotes are almost word for word. This is a play derived directly from its source material. It's live action and real human beings carry real traits. What more can you ask for?
Vicious was a good fighter but he didn't always fight with honor. That's why Spike wanted to leave the Syndicate. Spike was also going to leave the gang for love. They used to be like brothers.
You can't make a live action anime exactly like the drawn version. That is the problem with all of thenLA versions. Fmlab, rurouni kenshin , bleach etc.
that's not the problem, the problem was hiring writers with about as much maturity as toddlers to try and depict an adults story. They butchered Spike, Vicious and Julia, they butchered the themes, lessons and meanings of cowboy bebop, and the worst part is these toddler writers arrogantly believed the things they "modernised" were IMPROVEMENTS to the show! But clearly they were just lousy at understanding the source material.
It was much like rings of power, Peter Jackson ALREADY PROVED adapting Lord of the rings FAITHFULLY was possible. But the toddlers hired to put the rings of power together were too caught in their own ego' and propaganda to simply do a faithful adaptation.
One Piece's live adaptation gives my point more proof, when the creator Oda retained creative control over the project, the adaptation was FAITHFUL, even if they couldn't carbon copy everything perfectly, fans of one piece ALL AGREE the adaptation had respect for the source material, it didn't put any misandrist or racist empowerment propaganda in there, it stuck to what one piece is supposed to be about.
That is why people dislike the Cowboy Bebops adaptation, it is a unfaithful, disrespectful, butchered and crude mockery.

actually it’s really shit ok make changes where plot holes and inconsistencies in the anime were but to change the premise of the whole thing and fuck up the characters to this level is disgusting because say they just copy and pasted scene for scene at the worst that would be the only complaint if the characters the nuance and slightly differ but was the same cowboy bebop is an episodic show there was many other episodes that could have been retold that didn’t fuck with the main story arc of each character Faye is the worst version modern day power woman BS which goes against her character Jets arc was bearable but still went against his character arc Julia and vicious are side characters in the main characters arc not to fucking be apart and have there own arc and then ruin the characters in the process Ed isn’t worth mentioning because she wasn’t relevant at all only parts they got right was Ein and all he had to be was a fucking corgi everything in the show make me want to watch the original after the first ep

The issue with this show is that the changes they make to the source material undermine the original point of the narrative vicious is a obstacle spike has to overcome julia finishing him off makes spikes involvement here pointless hes just the middle man now in someone elses story when he should be the protagonist
it is a utter betrayal to vicious and julias characters, to really simplify spikes story, vicious was spikes evil side and julia was his good side, but the immature hack writers clearly missed that point while making this show.
