It seems as if this guy never played a single fallout and the commentary is falling short on about everything. This show is a very good video game adaptation. As a fallout fan, this show is good.
As someone who enjoys fallout 1 and 2 and nv, heck even tactics has its moments. This show is pretty but that's it, the lore has been thrown in the bin when making this.

What… the heck show did you watch. Because it wasn’t fallout. This video has the vibe of someone who realize a book report was due the next morning, and realized he doesn’t have time to read it, so instead he googles a paragraph summary, and tries to bullcrap his was through…
it's the dime a dozen, band wagoning, contrived "anti woke" outrage thingy that Midnight's Edge and others did better back when it was "fresh".
Now it's all devolved into parroting a tedious set of talking points, regardless of being actually relevant - and also comes off as whining. It is not _unpossible_ that Dr. Klein of the Think Tank at Big Mountain would call it the work of a lobotomite.

I think being the overseers daughter/son makes sense that she excels in most things as even in fallout 3, the daughter of the overseer was exceptionally well versed in nearly everything except for mayhaps combat. Besides Lucy did say her weakness was guns and even against her first raider she struggled immensely even though she was taught in martial arts and a fencer. Also most of the vault dwellers fought valiantly and effectively against the raiders. And honestly the Ghoul is far more effective and deadly when compared to Lucy, which means she has a lot to learn. This is actually one of those shows where “diversity” wasn’t on the forefront, it was the writing. Not all the guys are idiots either, as ghoul is the smartest and most resourceful character. Lucy is stupidly naive and Max is trying to live up to the ideals that he himself struggle to uphold. This isn’t a “fallout is female” kinda show. As ghoul, a male white guy is literally a leading smart, brilliant and brutal main character.
Fan from fallout 3, and thought it slapped. Highly recommend this show to any fan of the games. Brotherhood of Steel not militaristic? That's just not accurate. Also, you say you're not trying to be sensational,. but you title the video that you "survived" sitting in place while images blinked in front of you for a little over an hour. Must have a 1 in endurance.
They are far more dogmatic than they are patriotic. Militaristic does work. They don't actually function as a religion, as they are kind of shown to be. They are brutes, turn over that energy weapon or die. They were never really good guys lol. The narrative is weak, it is great eye candy, but it's so brain numbing to watch. Don't even bother questioning things and try to make sense of it; the creator even said it was a fools errand to appease fans of the franchise, so they are going to take it their own way. Subversion is typically subtle. This is going to be another subtle lecture series on the perceived faults of our real world. It is a shallow husk being a puppet for profits.

The binge model made famous by Netflix is actually a really cunning way of stopping viewers from actually thinking about what they are watching. There's no time to process what you just watched because you are immediately hitting "play next episode."
It also hides completion rates. Amazon must be very interested in doing that given the failures of RoP, WoT, Peripheral etc
Vault 33 are pacifist so they all stood there as they don’t believe in violence. They are scholars & educators, later episodes they want to rehabilitate the raiders they managed to capture. Lucy & her dad are the only ones who fight back. Her Dad is from Vault 31 so they probably have a different programming & set of values & ideals.

Marking myself safe after viewing episode 1 of Amazon's Fallout... I agree that the first scene is great Cinema, When we meet him again, the set evokes something less. I'm not sure if this episode needed to be over an hour to give us everything that it did, and this is starting to feel like a lazy Saturday afternoon pacing so far.I'm not done with it, but I'm also not in a hurry to find out whats next.

Also not only that it's actually more incentivized in Fallout 3 and NV at least to play as a girl because of the black widow perk. You deal 15% more damage vs male characters. And most of the enemies in those games are predominantly male.

The bottom line is the showrunner told the wrong story. Because it was a mystery box format, it was boring. The games were always about a central main character forced out into the world and we discover the wonders through their eyes. The tonal shifts were all over the place because it never centered on the main vault dweller, girl or not. Oh, spoiler, and since showrunner said this is cannon, it destroys/erases Fallout New Vegas. Literally, the last shot of episode 8.

Why can't we have Walton Goggins be the lead? Hes great, his character is the most interesting (im only 15 minutes in, but ill stand by it). Since you cant recreate the game experience of exploring this world as a sheltered Vault Dweller. Turn it on its head. Show us Ghouly Goggins as he tries to a keep a herd of book-smart, but wide-eyed Vaulty's alive in the Wasteland.

Again sorry . I tried to watch more and got to the 07:30 in the review and had to bail because it was making me nauseous and extremely angry which is not how I want to spend my Saturday. You might not want to bother reviewing the additional episodes because I can't even enjoy these reviews hate watching this trash because I really loved the Fallout games(even the so so games) and even these reviews make me so angry, it is a place I do not like. Just like I refuse to watch any Star Trek after 2005 when it was murdered on the orders of Les the molster Moonves and he let Jar Jar and Alex Turdsman take over.👎🏻

I cannot blame you for feeling burnt out on this garage. I had zero interest in watching even though I enjoyed the games since the first Fallout. It doesn't matter how accurate a show is when it comes to visuals, not when the heart of the story is the antithesis of the original material. It was obvious from the casting alone that this would be more female empowerment, crap-on-men ideological propaganda dressed up in nostalgia. What is embarrassing is the amount of "big" UA-camrs who actually enjoyed this crap or at least pretend to. There are fewer and fewer honest voices worth listening to. Keep being honest.

I've watched the first 4 episodes so far. I liked the Lucy character and I didn't see her as being one of those annoying "bestest ever" strong women at all. I see her having character development. I really did not enjoy the soldiers/knights scenes, they were boring as hell, and I do agree that the they/them was awful. She was an obvious woman pretending not to be and it was very distracting, and she was also a terrible actor, so the obvious diversity tick boxing really pissed me off.
100% agree. Aesthetically it was really good, they nailed the look and soundtrack of the game but the storytelling/writing was piss poor. Lol at the brain dead morons seal clapping the member berries.
Thanks. I'd already decided not to watch this thing until I'd seen reviews on 3 or 4 episodes. Just the first glimpse of the first released trailer told me that it would be a 'shades of Netflix casting' shit show. Seeing it confirmed frees up the hours I would have spent watching it. I can now guiltlessly do another heavily modded playthrough of FO4 instead.
I wanted it be decent. It’s a beautiful show with lots of attention to detail but just too many meh/plodding painfully pointless mixed with BS
Entertaining show. But every single element is for Ed DEI. Ghoul interracial daughter, vault elders black female, black male, leader of raiders, black female, best brotherhood recruit literally couldn't tell if it was a dude or girl, leader of outlaws black guy, main character multi-racial.
Make a diverse cast if you want, but when every single opportunity is used to check some DEI box, it's hard to get caught up in the world because your always getting thrown back out by some agenda being pushed.

First episode definitely had really questionable moments. VERY BAD dialogue and Max's character was horrible! No Charisma. But Fallout is 100% Fallout and perfectly captured. The second episode it awesome though! Its a great show! At least so far. I can look past most of the failings of the first episode unless thats consistent issue through the whole show. So far it's NOT. This guy seems overly negative Troll Like. He seems to forget Fallout is not supposed to be totally serious. It's supposed to be ridiculous, kinda like The Orville. I didn't see yoru Globalist Propaganda inserts at all. Didn't see emphasis on strong women.. she's a naive noob first of all. I'm very anti Marxism and that is just not a thing in this show.
Bethesda has made fallout more and more goofy. It started out serious but always had a subtle dark sense of humor. The show cranks this up to 11 at times but also tries to be serious sometimes??? I’ll admit it’s a difficult balance to reach but feels like they didn’t even try in the show.
When goofy violence and cool visuals carry your show and it relies on you to look past heavy handed messaging, bad writing, miscasted actors, over acting, etc…. 🤦♂️

There's nothing political in the show other than what is already in the game. The only thing that sucks is Maxs character is just so weak and unlikeable to start and why did they need to do that? just bad writing but everything is better in ep 2.

Also fallout 2 was the first game in history that allowed you to play as a gay character. And also fallout was created by a gay man. Way way WAY off. They really hit this one out of the park. Great show, great characters, great storylines, great cinematography, great FX, great CGI, AMAZING attention to detail, VERY faithful to the lore and overall Fallout aesthetic and vibe.

Horrendous first ep. Not only is every flavour of the month trope crowbarred in, it just - frankly - looks bad. Close shots to keep it cheap, and wider angles just look like awful CGI.
It had so much vibe and COULD HAVE been fantastic. But it seems the story/characters as aside from the Ghoul were kinda less priority

The casting is 100% modern Hollywood DEI, but the show is actually really good.
I'm a Fallout fan and they nailed the looks and feel of the game.
Just like The Last Of Us, I can ignore some of the ham-fisted propaganda because the show is just so well made.

The comments about wheel of time were odd to me as well! Have you ever read the books? Sure a few things were altered to better fit the screen adaptation, it has stayed relatively true the books!
As a long time player of the fallout series (since the very first PC game) I’m really enjoying this series so far!
1. FO 3 is literally going out of the vault to find your father after he mysteriously disappears, and FO4 same thing with your child. Your criticism about the gratuitous mystery box just means you don't know what you are talking about. Plus, playing a female character is 50/50 since FO 2 - your basic complaint is also dumb, though there are some specific messaging cringes worth talking about.

Yeah, this review is clearly just ep 1 and seem pre-determined to dislike this show. Having watched all eps, I can say a lot of the comments will not age well. It’s a fun show. I hate woke bs myself and also agree that the they/them bs from the BoS is just rubbish. But I was able to just ignore it coz the rest were enjoyable.

I hated the first episode because of the lore being broken immediately after the opening scene. But this was definitely an L take. If you're gonna hate on the episode at least make it make sense.

Summary of this review; clearly done by someone who was actively trying to hate the show, classes everything as woke when it isnt and has knee-jerk reactions whenever either a female or black character appears to a degree where its cringe. Even when a white character does appear he immediately bashes them as "ugly" but the white character in question actually ends up having one of the most interesting story arcs in the show and is set up to have a much larger role in future seasons.
I say all of the above as someone who was concerned that the show would be woke but can happily confirm that the show is fun, this guy is wrong and spends too much time locked in a vault watching too many right wing podcasts.
Please go to the surface once in a while, its not as bad out there as they say it is.
