- Adhesive capsulitis, commonly known as frozen shoulder, is a condition characterized by the stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint. This occurs when the connective tissue surrounding the joint becomes inflamed and thickens, limiting motion and causing significant discomfort. Early intervention with targeted stretches is crucial in managing and potentially reversing this debilitating condition. These stretches work by progressively enhancing the range of motion, maintaining the elasticity of the joint capsule, and reducing scar tissue formation. When initiated early, stretching exercises can prevent the shoulder from becoming further immobilized, thus mitigating the severity of the condition. Additionally, these exercises improve blood flow to the affected area, promoting faster healing and reducing inflammation. Regular practice of these stretches not only helps in maintaining shoulder mobility but also alleviates pain and stiffness, contributing to a quicker recovery process. By incorporating these preventive strategies, individuals can manage symptoms more effectively and enhance their overall shoulder function, thereby improving their quality of life.

As a license massage therapist that knows the importance of stretching, I love that you make these videos to show people they can self heal or prevent injury. People do not realize we need to stretch daily to keep the muscles healthy.
Good day dr , i am not sure if I have the same. I am not able raise my hand, ( left) straight up or over my head to touch the right side of the ear .
Problem with the Scapula i guess

Probably rotator cuff impingement.
Every time something isn’t working right with my body, Dr.Mandell posts a video with instructions how to fix it. Thank you!! ❤
So True I was having this problem 😊
I hope your frozen shoulder heals soon Dr. Mandell! I had one about 8 years ago. It took around 2-3 years to 100% fully heal. It started to free up very gradually after the first year. I can confirm that all the exercises you describe are spot on. Especially the bad free arm hanging/swinging motions. During the slow healing phase, whilst doing this gently with a 5 or 10kg dumbbell I would get random pops as the connective scar tissue fibres snap! I came to realise that with each joint pop, I was getting more mobility back.
As well as swinging the arm, whilst it hangs try lifting and lowering the dumbbell by bending the elbow and also twisting/rotating it back and forth whilst hanging it vertically. The inertia of the dumbbell helps to release the tense fibres. The pops are a good sign the therapy is working. Swimming regularly (breaststroke) helps also. With frozen shoulder it is very important not to immobilise as this just makes it get worse. The worst thing you can do is put the arm in a sling for days (even though it temporarily feels better) Good luck. Peter.
Thank you for going into details. I fell on valentine's day 2024 & shoulder came out of the socket. Insurance referrals and doctor issues caused a huge delay in my getting surgery and more delays getting to physical therapy. As a result my shoulder is frozen and I have been so concerned about ever getting back to normal. Your story gives me hope and thanks for sharing specifics to help the shoulder heal!

You know, a lot of people say that YT is no good because of censorship. Perhaps that is true for some things but where would we be without it? We wouldn't have Dr Mandell. Always useful info, Doc. You've helped me, us, more than you know. God bless you.❤❤❤
Love your videos but it would be so useful to have them organised in a playlist as there are over 5000 & when looking for something specific it's nearly impossible
Yes please. Love love your videos.

Thank you for this! I have torn my left rotator cuff not once, but twice, in the last twenty years. It's been about 8 months since the last time and this is part of my daily routine starting today. Cheers Alan!
Thank you so much for making this video. I have a frozen shoulder.
Years ago I had a humerus fracture in the same arm.
A timely video! Left shoulder issues for about three months now ... never realized getting my bra on and off could become so difficult! That hanging arm/pendulum motion actually feels so good! Thank you for this. I assume working the "good arm" with these exercises is also recommended, yes? Thank you again, Doctor!
Same with me 🇨🇦, left arm for 2mths now. I seen Dr Vonda Wright interview today, she mentioned frozen shoulder, i have never even heard of it until today. And I have seen 2 doctors smh
New subscriber, thanks to youtube algorithmes !❤❤

.it helps me a lot..
Oh Dr...😢 I have tried so many videos and I needed this so bad. I have had this shoulder hurting 2 months now. Went to physiotherapy and 1000k later nothing. He just killed my shoulder. This is helping me no lie. Thank you so much. Let's see in a week how I feel
Thanks Dr Mandell I am now having these pain. Thanks again I am going to the exercise.
Thank you❤
This is such useful information
This really helped
Thank you so very much ❤🎉
Thank you Dr Mandell watching from the Philippines
At about 55 I was just scratching my back and moved my hand too far- use a back scratching stick instead. Hanging from the top of door frames fixed my frozen shoulder. I do this stretching almost every day now, to keep my shoulders and back more stretched.
I had a MRI which told me I have a 3mm tear in my rotator cuff area. After rest and healing, I will be using these. I have had frozen shoulder about a decade ago, and these were all my exercises. I will keep this video handy for when I am ready to work the arm again (not in a sling currently-drs ok with that).
@SouthernLatitudesFL Did you have to have surgery?
Very useful I will try
Thank you Dr. Mandell, from South-Africa ❤
Thanks sir so very much
I had frozen shoulder once, 20 years ago. Man, it sucked! Visit to chiropractor, massage therapist, then went to acupuncture & found relief. Thanks for the good advice! 👍🏽
Perfect timing! I've been having stiff shoulder for as long as I can remember (5-6 years?) and it was getting worse. Thank you so much for making this video! I've tried some of the exercises and can feel some relief already! Will keep doing more as the days go by!
You are a blessing Dr. Mandell.
Thanks you for your teaching healing skills!!
I have a frozen shoulder on my right side since three years. And what I am facing is unimaginable. Hopefully I will do these exercises. I wish it would work for me. Thankyou Dr. Mandell for sharing this video.
Thank You Dr I so appreciate these techniques having injury top of spine which caused inflammation many years ago and seeing Drs specialists but I will practice theses movements to free up occasional pain when i lift up my arm, God’s Blessings 🙏❤️
Thx u 4ur excersices, hope it will work & get it better after 3yrs.
Really useful Dr 👍
Excellent recommendations and very easy excerises- presented very well - I have been doing physio but these exercises are the best. Thank you, I have been struggling with shoulder issues for awhile and recently had PRP which worked very well and combining with exercise I hope to avoid having surgery.
🌞Good Morning Dr. Mandell🌞
Been suffering w this for years. Many thanks 💜 for these exercises as my the insurance wouldn't cover the MRI. 💯
Another gem of a presentation, Dr. M. Thank you.
🇮🇪❤️
Yesterday I had Manipulation under anesthesia shoulder procedure. My shoulder feels great, but I will still use these exercises post-surgery.
Thank you so much it is very helpful. I just started promise to let you know how it is
Thank you sir I needed to hear what to do with my shoulder and you have a wonderful day today? ✅🎯💯
Fantastic knowledge❤ I’m gonna try it and hope it helps me have been suffering this shoulder pain for almost 2 months. I think I must’ve injured it while doing a workout with the kettle bell with the dumbbell I can’t see and I feel it impingement I’ve got thanks for all the help, really grateful
I have frozen shoulder Ouch! Thank you for the exercise video! Love to you and your family 💖
This is a good one I really needed this I'm starting to have right shoulder pain and I don't know why
I’m in physical therapy s/p rotator cuff surgery and these are some of the stretches they have me do.
This is so so helpful, thanks doc.
My shoulder pain is somewhat related to my digestion and gastric issues, no doctor seems to know why.
Wonder what your thoughts are.
I started to have painful shoulder-arm joints last week and trying this out a little bit made it less sore! I can hear the joint clicking when I did the freefall dangling hand. Thanks for sharing, doctor!
Thank you so much for those wonderful exercises. I am struggling at the moment with a frozen shoulder. It is not only painful but so irritating. Trying to do everything one handed. I don't wear a sling much as I feel I have more pain and less mobility when doing so. I try to gently carry on using the arm as best as I can to try stop it from stiffening more. A great video. With lots of useful tips.
Thank you.
God bless you and help you to help us, the world pacients with no doctor.
I was diagnosed with frozen shoulder this week. I will definitely try these exercises. Thank you!!❤
Did these exercises work for you? I’m in so much pain over here 💀
Blessings
Alhamdulillah, it worked on the first attempt.

My right clavicle bone was broken years ago it was inward ànd protruded the main bone outward i seen a sports specialist who told me if this was a outward break they could repair but mine was broke inward and they've tried different surgeries to no avail. This morning I noticed this doesn't hurt anymore and my bones feel normal. This exercise vedio you are showing is wonderful 👏 Thank you so much ❤. You are totally on time!
I so needed to see this.. Thank you Dr Mandell
can you please make a video on iron supplements chelated vs others for absorption and other issues
Great info, thank you Doc; I was at a point where I could bend much at the knees(arthritis setting in ), but little by little I did a little more and then more bending (crouching, bending at knees) and now I can bend all the way down(took me 2 years),; I am now working on staying bent at the knees for longer and longer periods of time - its a lil' painful, but I can bear the pain as I did when I first started hopefully without injuring myself and a positive outcome in the long run?
Love u Dr Mandal ihave a soldier pain i fallow you're exaciyjis and i really release my pain God bless you abundantly ❤
It's amazing all that's accomplished when we pray and fast in Faith!!
Thank you Doctor!! This is exactly what I needed.
I try your stretches to see if I can get some shoulder pain relief.
I had the exact same issue. Figured out it was due to going too low with the bench press. I limited that and go for a wider grip now and it’s fixed.
Thank you Dr Mandell 🙏
Thank you!🎉🎉
Wonderful video Doctor. Does the angle (how low you bend) determine the effectiveness of the pendulum exercise? Thanks
Thank you very much Dr. Mandell.
I take a broom handle and rest my bad shoulder's hand on the end of the handle and lift it up using my other hand pointing it straight up and just hold it there a few seconds. Helps alot. Thanks for your helpful videos 👍
Exactly what I needed. Great timing Doc. Thank you.
Omg this video is so timely. 3 weeks ago I started having shoulder pain exactly as you described doctor. I went to see my doctor and tomorrow is the start of my PT. I’m thinking of canceling it and just do this for now. Such a great video. Thank you so much doctor 🙏
No! Go to PT. You will get other good things like he shows to help you. You also have someone to watch and make sure you are doing things right. I just went thru PT for my back. I'm so glad I did. 😊
@@vettnetkramer1233 thank you for your advice 🙏 Will do.
Been taking Nattokinase as Dr. Mandel suggested...
It works!!!
Stretching
Massage
Cold Laser
Tumeric and Natto.
Shoulders are working again!
Took an entire YEAR folks these exercises and stretching every day...
The natto broke up the scar tissues!!
If I can't sleep from shoulder pain, get out of bed and do the stretches ( ya can't sleep anyhow) that was the trick!
Thank you Dr. M!
No surgery for me...❤
TQ for the useful info, i m 63, active senior, i hv shoulder prob during cycling, when i stretch my left hand to ON my light below the seat. Instantly i feel the pain and i couldn't lift my left hand up. After 3 treatments still hv a little discomfort. I will follow your good tips, is easy.
Thank you so much!! How many times should I work on this exercise a day? Once will be enough? Thank you!!
I actually have a chronic bad shoulder right now. These flexes helped. All felt good, except the towel pull behind. That one was seriously painful and i had to take a break
Thank you so much...
Thank you. I have problems with my shoulder. I was giving excersises to do, but they didn't help. I will try the ones you show. They look more effecient. My doctor only offered injections
