The problem with imitating the opposite sex's voice is both usually have a distinct accent. So you may nail the pitch, but not convincing enough because of the way words are spoken.

Usually, hormone therapy for trans men (testosterone or T) will naturally deepen the voice (thicken the vocal chords). But the gender expression of a voice is also more than just pitch. It’s also intonation and resonance, among other things. But this seems to be a great tip for trans men for making their pitch more masculine, even before the effects of hormone therapy (in the case of trans men, that would be testosterone).
No problem! Our curriculum is built so you can create a deeper tone without T. Start say "GUG" and see how deep you can get it to sound. Remember, you will NOT have to lower your pitch that much. It is a small step in pitch and a big step in resonance. After you find a comfortable, deep "GUG" sound. Try reading with that same deep tone. Happy practicing!
