I just joined. I love singing. It seems like it is the only thing I am good at. I have been doing it for 35 years but I don't really like the way my voice sounds when I hear myself. I sound good when I am singing to myself like in the bathroom or in the car or just doing daily things but I always seem to find things wrong when I hear myself back on a recording.

Pitch ,was never a problem for me ,I can listen to a complex run and correctly identify all the notes in that run .But I just cant sound like im singing when I sing. Its not that bad either (not as bad as a dying duck) ,but I just can't sound like im singing.its like im hitting the correct notes with my speaking voice and it doesn't sound pleasant. Its super frustrating.

I had the same problem, i worked on my vocal placement and it improved alot. Try watching videos about forward vocal placement. I don't know if it's possible to work on it alone or not cause i had a vocal coach helping me.

@@hakamshakir oh God they all said the same thing 🤣 ,they'll demonstrate a forward placement (their version of a forward placement!!!!🤣) they can't even sing. They'll tell you to "put the sound on your cheek, feel the vibration in the cheekbone","nyah, nyah, nyah" "nggggggGaaa, nggggggGaaa, exercises🤓".Some tell you to " lift the soft palete "," relax the soft palete",some even say ,to achieve forward placement"no air should come through the nose" but singers can hum with forward placement, it sounds warm ,beautiful and interesting ,yet all the air comes out through the nose when you hum.The more I watched these videos the more confused I become🤣.I just wanted to sound beautiful😭

    • @hakamshakir
      @hakamshakir 2 роки тому +55

@@MineCraft-nz9pg Exactly, It's way more complicated than just lifting the soft palette up. This is why i recommend doing it with a coach because it'd take way less time with someone guiding you the right way. It took me a couple of weeks to be comfortable holding that position when singing. And till now i still forget to hold it in some songs.

You know what I’m talking about they look at you and say aren’t they great aren’t they good? Well I don’t wanna pop anybody’s bubble but half the time it’s for the two reasons that you mention. First they have bad pitch and the second being that they sound badly while trying to belt songs out instead of singing them. STEPS
1st PUT YOU HAND IN YOUR CHEST
2nd Sing if you can feel your chest vibrating that means your doing it wrong bit if its not then your doing it right
Its one of the techniques that was taught me im only ithe choir for 1 year and the thing that i thought you is one of the techniques they use to identify their singing bc when you put your palm/hand in you chest and talk normally its shaking but if your singing then its not vibrating i myself is a soprano singer it has a lot of high notes also one more thing is that make sure to make your mouth wider or bigger so your voice will actually be louder but make sure your singing right sometimes they also said if you sing and dont use your throat bc it can hurt when using high notes they say that if you can feel your head vibrating or your chest not vibrating and your jaw is bigger meaning if your mouth is wider its correct bc its needed when singing high notes

      Other aspects to remember:
      A. Your internal muscles need to support your singing.
      B. Don't constrict or force things, the clearest tones and loudest voices come most effortlessly. They come there by technique and practice, not by forcing things.

With the voice in my head I make beautiful songs. When I pick my mic, am unable to make that delivery. Is such a burden. The only time I get control over my voice is when I sing as low as though am humming. To sing any louder than that, my voice will disappear in between and some words are completely muted. When I started teaching in secondary school, I had no choice but to be at the top of my voice, these classes were quite large. I use my head voice and intentionally create distortion within my upper throat so that the entire class can here me out. I sound like 0:04. When I go home and try to sing, I noticed I can sing louder and stress free. This is a weird experience as I learned that shouting can rather ruin one's voice. I need a great singer like you to test a few existing songs. Do you offer such service? Can you be hired for a song or two? I'll appreciate any feedback s'il vous plait.

I knew a guy back in my late 20's who probably had the most beautiful natural timbre I've ever heard. At that time I was taking vocal lessons at the nearest conservatory - just for the fundamentals of breathing properly and adequate vocal coordination... I told him he would have no bounds if he would only train.
He never took a lesson, but sang in different bands for years, until he blew his voice out. Singing isn't just having a pleasant natural tone - that's just the raw potential. It's so worth it to learn, even for five or six months. Still one of the best things I've done.

I have a very good high voice, like Ariana grande notes. I’m just bad at holding them. It’s undeveloped. Although I could be a good singer if I tried. My deep notes are horrible. Like the lovely from Billie elish, those notes that go, “Oh I hope some day I’ll make it out of here” I’m bad at that part but when she goes “isn’t it lovely, all alone” I’m good at that. Also, I feel that I can’t sing loud either. Any tips??

I have a range of around 2 octaves, and I can sing on tune, but I feel like my voice when I sing just sounds really ordinary... 😭 kind of like how I talk normally? How do I develop a more pleasant kind of voice? Like how you have a kind of honeyed tone lol how do you do that? I'm half-Filo myself (tho i grew up elsewhere) and i've never understood how you do this.

I love this. As an amateur singer trying to work my way pro all I hear daily is obsessive annoying comments about how my pitch is off. It literally is all people can fixate on yet not once have I ever been told my tone is bad. Not once.. yet I continue to be ridiculed and shamed for my struggle with pitch. My vibrato and power can knock down an apartment complex yet it's never noted or taken into any consideration. What I invite people to understand is tone does matter just the same. I agree pitch is important but as illustrated in this video you can have bang in pitch but if the rest isn't there then it really doesn't matter. Pitch is NOT everything.

My problem isn’t really pitch, usually that’s my strength. My problem is when you have a low voice that strains your throat when you try and sing high notes “while still in your vocal range” Not only that but the switch from belting to load falsetto’s. Things like this that I struggle with as an alto

When i first started taking singing seriously, i got accepted in Gr 7 choir i didn't even want to do. They let the whole school audition for it, since there were so little choir kids in the group, and i happen to got in. I loved it very much, and i got the role of an alto. But i took my role very seriously, so seriously that i didn't know how to sing high 'good'. Now im learning how to sing high (yea still) but i dont know were to start😭

I kinda understand the devolpe part, when I was 5 all the way until recently when I decided to record me singing for the first time I found out my singing voice improved, then I strained my voice less than a month later. This was cringey but I showed my mum my voice recording showing her I knew how to sing hoping she can fix it. Then I asked if I used to sing that well a while agoqnd she said no.
I literally devolped an okay singing voice in short time that's passed from singing Encanto songs 😭😭😭.

The thing is a good chunk of singing is in my opinion “a god given talent”. Some people have tone deafness so they cant hear when they are off pitch, therefore that cant sing correctly. But then again just because someone can hear if they’re off key or on key doesn’t mean hey sing correctly or good, which takes time developing your voice and learning good singing posture and technique to achieve a good singing voice
