When I was starting and no idea what half of these terms meant, that info you provided on the image and what tracing does would've been a huge help! Might be something you can put into a separate video in case someone doesn't catch that tip on this video :)
Build dad Build, you have a great group of followers. Looking/reading the comments are helpful .
Your kids are so adorable!
Lazer engraving on leather is awesome!
Try using the cheap stuff called LA Awesome. I have had great results with it. Was suggested to me that Rapid Remover for adhesive vinyl lettering remover would work as well, but $1 v $50 is hard to justify.
Aw adorable kids . Sweet video
I use LA's Totally awesome cleaner and it does a great job at cleaning the tumbler after lasering. And it's like $1.50 at Dollar general for the big container. Great video BTW.
I use this stuff called la's totally awesome for my metal engraving and it works incredibly well and you don't have to go through all those steps. it is vey shiny.
Good on ya. I hate that stuff! LOL
Hey Nick, that’s way to much work to clean a tumbler. LAs totally Awesome, one spray, wipe with a cloth and you’re done. Thanks for the video, love your work
Bro, I love your channel and your video's on Burning Wood! You have some of the best videos on working and inventive ideas! Are you going to sprinkle that in?
A 40w diode cranks out tumblers pretty fast too. But at 40w the diode is just starting to get into production level power IMHO.
I enjoyed watching your video. Educational and fun. Can I ask how you get your tumbler to come up as the metal after engraving? Mine come out as black. Thanks.
Run a speed and power grid. You are either not burning deep enough and that is charred powder coat or you are burning too deep and scorching the metal
I like watching your vids, funny how I learn a lot from your mistakes; IE focus, alignment, calibration....test test test. Perfect every time, well first time really never is, but that's how we learn...
Do you use any of the GIMP plugins? For photos I find its amazing. IMAGR isnt bad either. I find the biggest mistake I make is either not enabling/disabling rotary in Lightburn or mirroring is wrong/cup is the wrong direction lol.
Same issues I have LOL. My go to is iamg-r
Great I just bought the Raz pro tumbler, now you have a different one to show me. Ugh I really thought that was the best for DX 1 pro 10 watt.
These are tips for ALL rotary engravers....I didn't go into specifics on this laser for a reason.
" PERFECT TUMBLER EVERY TIME " After you focus the laser 🤪.. Great video thanks for the tips.
What software do use to edit your photos like you did in this video
Adobe Illustrator
Hi thee, great video as always. I have a question for you, what's this thing about tumblers rusting with time or, in the case of MOPA, the colors rust and fade with time.
Never heard of a tumbler rusting...

Biggest problem I keep running into is stretched images side to side. Using the Xtool D1 Pro 20W, RA2 chuck rotary, and Lightburn. The diameter is correctly set in lightburn but there's gotta be something else not set correctly. Any suggestions? Thanks for your videos!! They've been very helpful for this noobie
Check your settings in Lightburn. Also confirm that your tumbler isn't slipping when it rotates.
Double check your measurements, and revolutions. If either is off, it will distort your round to become an oval.
Add 10% to the dimension that is ovaled. You're welcome
gotta get yourself some of the LA Awesome Cleaner... much easier to get the tumblers cleaned up!
And only $1 at my local Dollar store
I bought a lazer about 6 months ago, I still haven't tried it, any helpful hints? Or a sample burn setting?
Jump in and get after it.
You can make burn test files here:

Cheers!
@@BuildDadBuild Thanks, I'll check it out.
The first test you will want to run is called a ramp test. That tells you the best distance to focus your laser away from the item you will be burning. If it is a CO2 laser, then Kim & Garrett Make It has a great video on how to make sure that your mirrors are aligned correctly, as that is an issue with most.
Are you etching over the China mark or is it you side reference?
Yes, you can etch right through the grease pencil mark as it is too thin to interfere with the process. It will wash off what is left when you clean the tumbler.
Unable to get the BLU spray up here in Canada :( do you know of any suitable alternatives?
LA’s Totally Awesome All Purpose Cleaner (yellow liquid) is amazing and CHEAP.
Would you have the setting for xtool D1 Pro 20w? Please thanks
You'll have to run a speed and power grid.
The blu doesn't ship where I'm, puerto rico. Is there another similar product easily accessible in like home depot or something?
Not that I know of
@BuildDadBuild ok, thank you for the reply. I will keep looking for it
i cant figure it out when i run on xtool d1 10w i get these lines like its starting to engrave on the metal of the tumbler
That usually means you need to upgrade your firmware.
@@BuildDadBuild thanks looking much better now love the vids.
Awesome tumbler, we learned a lot from good channel, but we use totally awesome which we purchase for a $1.25 at dollar genaral.
No lie! I was like Damn he didn’t have to focus the laser?? Must be automatically done…. Fancy. LOL!!!
Rookie mistakes…
What program are you using?
RDWorks
What diode laser safety goggles to you suggest?
These are the ones I use. They come in a couple of styles.

Cheers
@@BuildDadBuild thanks
Would it not be better to use a Fiber Galvo laser for Tumblers, would be faster
If you have a Fiber laser with an engravable area large enough. And if you don't want to engrave anything else but metal....then yes.
Have you tried engraving a pen?
No. But check out Louisiana Hobby Guy's channel. He does pens.
In my first weeks of lasering, I've heard that "some" images need to be reversed-mirror imaged to product a legible text. What is your experience? Thanks for a bunch of good videos.. Hank
No need to reverse. That usually means the rotary is in backwards! LOL
