I bought this same jacket my freshman year of college. That was over 15 years ago. Worn it every winter since then as my go-to. Got a new Carhartt for Christmas a few years back but gave it to my wife. My original is still just fine (color slightly faded and some slight fraying around the wrists only). This jacket is bomb proof.
The cuffs are great for having to wear work gloves. The outer cuff keeps things like snow, rain, wood chips out of your gloves while keeping your arms warm when taking gloves on and off.
i had a forest green carhartt ijacket in Alaska that i wore for many years until it got faded and the cuffs frayed and i retired it. Inspired by this video, i drove into Couer D'alene Idaho, went to The North 40 store and purchased a new buckskin/rust coloured hooded Carhartt jacket. Thanks for your inspiration, Logan Brown!

Quick question about layering as I am trying to figure out sizing. You mentioned you'll put a sweatshirt on underneath for the super cold days. Does it the jacket become overly tight or do you feel like you still have some room when you layer? I like to wear hoodies underneath during the crazy cold days and I am concerned about ordering my regular size. I too am a Chicago resident and I am looking at this exact jacket to replace my north face. Great video! Thanks for your time!
Cool man, where in chicago do you stay? I’m in Jefferson Park area. I chose a large to allow for more space for hoodies and layering. I normally would get a medium but in this case I’m glad I got a large. I’m looking to actually sell mine, near mint condition because I recently changed jobs and no longer need it. Let me know if you are interested

Great quik rundown Logan. From 1 chicago guy to another Carhartt in the winters is essential. I looked for this model and could only find the washed Duck sherpa lined jacket. Looks very similar so I did order. Could u confirm that they are the same ? Maybe just a updated model ? Thanks !

I’d say if you have only a short sleeve shirt underneath you can be comfortable at maybe around 10 degrees, but if you layer appropriately I’d say your more comfortable at around -25 degrees. -25 was the coldest I wore it at in windy chicago weather island I was comfortably warm when I had other layers on.

Hi there I was interested in purchasing one of these jackets but I didn't know if you wear a black t-shirt underneath does the wool from the jacket lining get all over the black T-shirt or does that not seem to be the case ? thank you
The wool inside is very well kept and doesn’t seems to “shed” at all, also depends on the black shirt material? Certain polyesters may have more grabbing properties while softer cottons or wools would not. I’d say overall though that the wool is built very durable and doesn’t not flake or shed at all regardless of the shirt worn underneath. Hope this helps!
I’d say slightly small. I’m usually a medium but I felt more comfortable in a large. But that’s considering that you often wear sweaters and other layers underneath a big jacket. Hope this helps!

I love carhartts. When i help my uncles with livestock. They come in handy. I stay warm. Love them carhartt.

Do these run on the bigger side? For example j130-j140 i can wear XL, but in the Detroit jacket I had to get 2x tall for the extra 2 inch length
