Carol is a very underrated singer! Man, could she sing. ❤
Oh I agree! I recently downloaded her album 'Carol Burnett Sings' (1962?) and I'm blown away by her musicality. Apparently she couldn't read music, but wow could she interpret a song. Dynamics, emotion, phrasing, tone...she was a VERY gifted singer back in the day!!
She really was a triple threat- dramatic acting, singing and comedy.
She was in the off Broadway 1954 production of Once Upon a Mattress which moved to Broadway where she continued playing Princess Winifred and she even won a special Tony award in 1969.
@@EM2theBee really??? Cool! Very deserving. She's one of my favourites and I hope she lives as long as Betty White. ❤
Her Rendition of send in the clowns from the TV show was absolutely brilliant. It starts out with the scene with Harvey Korman as her boss. You could find it on UA-cam absolutely great!
Three absolute powerhouses. What a great moment in time. Seven minutes well spent.
The three of them could have recorded an album together and it would have been fantastic. Just imagine Burnett, Elliot, and Peters . . .
This is awful.
The arrangement is wild, but it's great fun. All three legends in their own right. But Bernadette Peters... she's 23 in this video. At 74 now she's better looking and her voice is 10 times better. Talk about aging well....we should all be so lucky.
@@jm7804 Bernadette would come into the market that I worked at for many years in Miami Beach. This was twenty some odd years ago and she was still stunning then. She was quiet and never drew attention to herself although I'm sure quite a few employees and guests must have known who she was, but she was just so nice and never made a fuss about anything. Also. she is quite diminutive hehe. Sweet lady.
What talent!!!! You do not see this on TV anymore. And don't forget Bob Mackie who did all the wardrobe for the show each week! Each singer shines in her individually designed star gown. ✨
I just met Bob Mackie in a gift shop while I was on vacation. He bought two decorative pillow cases. I bought a necklace and a scarf. He was very down to earth and funny.
@@drbkap3 Wow! You were so lucky. Bob is a true artist! Glad to hear he is nice too.
I never knew that thays the reason I watched..to see what Carol was wearing ..thats awesome..needs to be in a museum..very nice pieces
@@nikradik Some of her costumes are in museums. The Smithsonian Institution has her "cleaning lady" outfit. The National Museum of American History (also under the Smithsonian) has her Miss Scarlet "drapery" dress. Also, NYC's Fashion Institute of Technology had an exhibit on Bob Mackie's gowns designed for Carol on the show a few years ago.
He also did the gowns for The Sonny & Cher show which I believe ran during the same seasons a the Carol Burnett show.
I know Bernadette Peters personally!!!! As great a performer she is a a person!!!! I really love them all!!!!!
can you tell her hi from me
@@billygorgeous absolutely!!!!!!!
She's a legend
Oh Very Cool! I've been in love w her since the 70s!
I've met her a few times. My sister adores her and I took her to see A Little Night Music. After the show at the stage door my sister said "I'm your biggest fan". Bernadette kinda yeah yeahed" - it was December and late. She was tired. But then seemed to catch herself. She came back and very sincerely said thank you and posed for a picture. My sister still tells the story with a smile. A moment with Bernadette.
The sheer work/energy put into these Variety Shows...it made Saturday nights an Event!
That they did music and choreography and costumes like this every dang week is absolutely bonkers! I’m not sure it could be done the same today.
@@melviasheppard8466 but then what kinds of shows would people watch for nostalgic value? And what would be left to complain about, right?
There ain't no way Hollywood could do this again nowadays.
@@melviasheppard8466 you actually tell your kids to cover their eyes for things on commercial tv? Maybe you should just give up on letting them watch at all!
@@melviasheppard8466 wait a minute...you are talking about other people. You don't even have any children, do you?
@@melviasheppard8466 I love how Mama Cass looks here. Classy! Not like what we see now with the bigger sized singers today who seems to feel they need to flaunt their body in order to get an audience.
Three of the most talented women of all time. Tears and smiles for the fabulously talented Mama Cass and Bernadette Peters, and the magnificent, never-fail comedy genius Carol Burnett.
Amazing how Bernadette Peters evolved over the decades.
Bernadette was about 23 here...and to this day, looks and sounds just about the same. Girl is an immortal.
I agree
That dance opening was the most 70s things I’ve ever seen.
Carol was very brave doing a trio with Cass and Peters. She has a great voice but Mama Cass and Bernadette Peters have two of the biggest voices of their generation.
She held her own too! She’s always known what her strengths are and how to play to them
There's nothing that even comes close to Carol Burnett Show. So many stars! These three are wonderful together
I remember when this came out back in the day. You could always count on the Carol Burnett Show for great entertainment!!! 🙂
I do miss Mama Cass. What an incredible talent she was. Carol Burnette could do it all.
I soooooo miss Mama Cass. ❤😢
All three great singers and entertainers - just wish Mama Cass was still with us too!
absolutely. She is one of my favorite singers of all time
Mama Cass was my favorite in this trio. But just wow. What talent these ladies have.
Mama Cass Elliot is my all time favorite female singer
She’s a phenomenal singer!❤
Bernadette Peters was on The Carol Burnett Show A LOT. She even guested on the short-lived revival in the early 90's, post-Into the Woods. They sang Side by Side by Side.
I heard the late, great Harvey Korman refer to the show as a Broadway Musical review every week. It certainly was
HOW HAVE I GONE 34 YEARS WITHOUT HEARING THIS
Bob Mackie could flatter the body of any woman with such unique style and glamour 🤩💞
I have been smiling for 7 minutes straight and am still smiling, thanks to 3 great and talented ladies.
Three of my favorite ladies. All so amazingly gifted. I still miss Mama Cass.
Me too...💔
All three with such different sounds but they blend so well together. I love the Bob Mackie designs, all similar but suited specifically to the ladies. This is an absolute gem of a video.
Yes! I couldn't have said it better myself. I wish there were more songs that these three sang together, their voices just work so beautifully with each other.
Capable, talented, and legendary professional singers all, but the standouts are those Bob Mackie gowns! Always added Razzle Dazzle to every show.
CASS ELLIOT 💜💚💜
My all time favorite female singer
Their voices really cover the spectrum and balance each other. Any 2 are natural backups for the 3rd on lead.
Cool mics too
Wow, this is so special. Nothing as good as this today
Their voices blended well. They’re all so talented but it was Cass’s solo part that truly drew me in. She could really deliver a song. I’ve always loved her singing.
That part caught me, too, I so loved her voice!
3 amazing ladies with many talents.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Their voices blend together so beautifully
Mama Cass's gown is the bomb! Love it!
I love Ernie flat dancers
Any one of those ladies could sing the phone book and I’d happily listen.
The Burnett Show showcased so much legendary talent. We’ll never see anything like it again.
This is what I call GIRL POWER!
3 very different beautiful women and soooo much talent!!! Wow 👌
I miss Cass, but I'm glad Carol and Bernadette are still around. Three ridiculously talented women.
Great song well sung by 3 talented beauties. They've certainly got a friend in me!
Wow!!! Three powerhouses!
Forgotten how good Mama Cass really was
Bernadette Petters can do anything she sets her mind to
I miss Cass! I liked her!
She could have gone on to do such much, like Broadway musicals, solo albums, etc. Am glad Carol had her as a guest to show Mama's versatility beyond the Mamas and the Papas.
It's surreal to see mama Cass and Bernadette Peter's at the same time nevertheless with Carol Burnett it is turly is a most pleasant and beautiful sight to behold and witness
-Ridiculously wonderful. They define -TALENT!
Love each of these performers but this arrangement does them no justice
Good times Carol. ♥️
Real singers, no autotune just talent. Very enjoyable.
Very nice thank you !
very interesting arrangment of a classic all three are great talents .
The best damn 7 minutes I've spent in a long time! Absolute legends!
Wish Mama Cass got to do the Muppet Show. Both Bernadette and Carol were part of the best episodes of the series. Cass would’ve been a treat.
Best show ever on TV....there will never be another Iam afraid!
The arrangement of this song absolutely is nuts.
That gorgeous gown on Cass! Mackie did her well.
❤️❤️❤️
ALL Are no So Talented 🍒💯🙏🏆💎✌️🏅
Live talent, done in one take is the real thing; despite it being hideously hokey. It’s true talent
This is bonkers and I am here for it
So good.. The production, the arrangement, the star performances!! 3 legends
We watched this every weekend. I didn’t remember Carol singing, but she is absolutely incredible! Figures she first “made it” on Broadway!
I can’t stop watching this! I would do anything for a full trio album from these incredible ladies 😍
It would've been great for Mama Cass to be here today with the likes of Lizzo. Her life was made especially hard bc of her size. Today, perhaps she would've been more accepted. This was a great treat to watch.
I'm so glad they could perform together. I'm in awe.
If they had made Hocus Pocus in the seventies they would have these three as the Sanderson Sisters
Mama Cass, who didn't love her. So Beautiful and able to wear the same clothes as the other 2 ladies. Size didn't matter, talent did, and she was talent.
Each of the gowns the ladies wore were just perfect for them. Carol
Smiled every second I watched- LOVE THIS🥰❤️
When there was real talent on TV! Just great! 😄🎶📺
It's so sixties...so seventies! The dance moves, the sets, the singing. I'm having a flashback!!!!
YAA
This episode showed up on my TV. Happy to see this performance on UA-cam.
It wasn't Carole King or James Taylor but it was fun and entertaining as hell.
I saw mamma cass I had to click on and watch
I would get a tv if this quality of entertainment was available now
This is one of the best acts ever!
I feel like I just shot straight up to Heaven and back 🧡
I like the dancers best, & mama cass her voice is so effortlessly beautiful
the music trio I didn't know I needed.
Lobebhow the dresses are different and they're all fabulous..I was waiting for some comedy
.lol like the whole time..I thought this was a ski from the show..very nice
Wow…just wow!
This made me so happy.
Looks like Bernadette and Carol have performed together before playing Lily St. Regis and Mrs. Hannigan in Annie!
Look up Bernadette’s amazing take on “The Exorcist” in Carol’s “As The Stomach Turns” parody!
One of my favorite songs! Never heard it this way! This was Awesome!
Smooth like butter. What a special time capsule clip!
Totally diggin' that groovy vibe, man!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Groovy man, love those June Tarlor dancers.
I remember seeing this when it was new and thinking I would be in trouble with my parents for liking the booty shaking fart fanning gold hotpants dancers at the beginning LOL. What I love about this now is that all 3 ladies get a chance to lead while the other two sing backup in harmony. That's talent! As for the quirky song makeover, I do like it. I guess I always found James Taylor's version of it depressing. Hats off to the creative arranger and to Bob Macke as well for making these ladies look individually great as an ensemble. Give me these 3 gals as friends any day!
Actual 70s variety shows were even more outlandish than WALK HARD parodied them to be.
Truly Greatness
Case Elliott may have the best voice of our era.
Magnificent, thank you for this !
Wow Just great!
Thank you
Loved every part of this
Absolutely outstanding!!
Backup singers look very Suess-esque. So hilariously 60s.
😎 this is cool. 💕 Cass Elliot 💕
Mama Cass!!!
