Mr Kishore, Singaporeans are all very proud of you!
Even your neighbor, a Thai person like me, am very proud to be your neighbor. Long live ASEAN
Me too, I'm Chinese & also proud of Proffessor Mahbubani. We need more people like KM. ❤❤❤❤❤
Definately very proud of LKY , Goh Keng Swee, Rajaratnam managed to mentored such outstanding persons for Singapore
Professor Tommy Koh, you left out America as the 3rd country that behaves MOST ruthlessly in the guise of "international rules of law - rules-based order, as they so loosely throw around!
Fully agree with you. US is the most ruthless rogue country in the world 🌎
They have a long tradition for speaking with a forked tongue and brutality, slavery and on... Venezuela is next, a warm up for the big show.
The commentary has spoken out the difficulties and challenges UN confronted to bringv back what it's first intended to bring forward to the world that is needless to say. Namely Rule by law by alll nations regardless of race, religion and etc.
Tommy Koh got it right. His comments are sober and reasonable.
The rise of Asia doesn't mean leading to the extinction of western countries. It just means the power of the West is substantially reduced, in relation to the Rest. Specifically, their sanction is no longer much relevant. Their medias are not much dominant. Their way of life is not much appreciated. Their opinions are simply among others' opinions in the world stage.
Thank you LKY SPP for sharing this long form format of the event. Love the contents and the great panel of speakers sharing so generously their experiences and insights.
Will definitely download Kishore's first book. My little Goa was liberated/annexed around the same time that Singapore was, and our natural and social capital have been hobbled, tripped and are now being burnt wholesale on India's diktats.
Thank you to one and all who made this possible and available to view. My knowledge, appreciation of Professor Mahbubani, and Singapore, is deepened, broadened, strengthened. A privilege I appreciate and grateful today and forever more. Thank you.
One of the best book launches I have seen. Proud to be a Singaporean.
Make me so envy, Bless SG.
Rare is the appearance of wise awakened people. Hear the truth once such people appeared. Thank you
I tend to agree with Prof. Kishore. The world is indeed a jungle, a sad realisation when one looks at drug trade, scamming, arms deals that can be traced all the way to the highest echelons of power - just to name a few. AND that's why we need diplomats.
Of course, the pursuit for diplomacy should be relentless but nevertheless the rules of the jungle does often apply when the superpowers misbehaved. Tommy Koh should know better.
USA should appoint him as an advisor because none of the Americans politicians seems to understand China or Asia
. US politicians should not only use their brains but their heart as well. We all need to work together for the future of humankind.
They are too proud to listen. making America great has brainwashed them to think that they should and will be great and is always No 1
What future has the US in a Chinese - Russian dominated world?
@@Andy-Pwhat future does China and Russia has in a US dominated world?
It's not that US didn't understand China. In fact it understand too well. That's why it is suppressing China's rise. The United Snakes of America is such a sore loser!!!!!!!!
Us Neocons politicians are too Arrogant to accept anything considered from the Asians/South
Kishore is a genuine rebel and honestly believed in positive change in the world. But without openly pointing out the ills, it will be difficult to bring any changes
I will not consider him as a rebel. He's an audacious advocate of peace and coexistence, much needed in a world full of pragmatists and realists.
Every Singaporean youth needs ro acquaint themselves with the glorious genesis of their nation. The sheer grit and drive that brought forth an anomaly of history...the emergence of the little red dot that we are. Nothing short if a miracle and a true manifestation of all the metaphysics of ASEAN values/philosophies.❤
Tks Prof , based your personal family struggles inspire me to take proper action without fear 😮 nobody is above the law
Hi Mr. Kishore, i was born in Cambodia in 1968 and you were in Cambodia at that time. As you said you were experiencing fighting and bombs. Since you were witnessing that war personally and up close please if you don't mind briefly tell me an over all situation that time, thank you and i appreciate your time by the way i've been following your discussions in differently platform like CGTN, UA-cam, university... for a long time and always appreciate you advocate for peace, win win, coorporation... to resolve conflicts.
Kishore is awesome 👏👏👏👍
An awesome CCP shill 😂
@@ggc7318Shill how? For telling US to stop bullying? 😂
@accountantthe3394 wait till China to start bullying the Asean countries. Yesterday, it just asked Sarawak to stop oil exploration within the Sarawak coastal zone.
Wait until you have no UA-cam to condemn the USA.
Kishore condemns the USA on USA's media platform. He is just a CCP'S boot licker.
Thanks god we still have these wonderful academic people making their insights heard!
One of two internationally respected and sought after true public intellectuals
Who is the other?
we will need the book to be in Audible
Kishore may now consider mentoring selected world leaders to help them make more sense of their role in shaping their national policy and international order.
One such person would be Modi, the current Indian prime minister who needs to understand how to shape an inclusive India that will accept Muslim and Christian minorities as our very own... and Indian to the core.
Without such mentoring hindu India is heading down a Hindu fascist path, which was weakly dented by the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by not allowing RSS-VHP-BJP fascists an unquestionable majority in the parliament.
Hope to see Kishore Mahbubani in his next incarnation as the global personal mentor for world leaders or potential world leaders.
Really Prof Koh, it's not the laws of the jungle? The primary law of the jungle is that might is right. Many would euphemistically call it realism or exceptionism.
The Jungle King pushes its way through, law or no law, picks and chooses who to fight, tolerate no competitors, picks the laws to justify its action. And if the law still proves inconvenient, issues threats against anyone who dares to enforce it.
And there's a pecking order too. Being closer to the Jungle King helps. Don't we all know who the Jungle King, the elephants, the foxes, the sheep and the buffalos of the jungle are?
So why the diplomats? To convey the unwritten codes? For lower-tiered members to align among themselves or with others? As messengers of dictates?
I am reminded of videos I watch how a lion mauled a buffalo while other buffalos looked on in fear. Once in a while, another buffalo would emerge from the herd to attack the lion, thus saving its fellow buffalo. I would like to think that Kishore too has that fighting spirit. The jungle is cruel place. Millions get killed, maimed or injured for not obeying dictates
I am glad Kishore still holds on to his idealism instead of mellowing in pragmatism. That ego is his audacity to remind the Jungle King the need for peaceful coexistence. Without that, humanity, including any Jungle King, is doomed.
We need more idealistic people like Kishore to be truth speakers.
Prof Kishore, I think is such a shame that you have such an impressive panel of speakers yet the time spent was so short. I think will be nice after your book is launched for a year or so to have the panel back. Love that you start your podcast to discuss current affairs, foreign affairs and Geo politics, history etc. Many Singaporeans will benefit and I think will give you more inspirations and materials for your subsequent books. Can Asian ride well through the waves of the Asian Century with Kishore?
The waves will be radioactive.
I always said that Kishore and Tommy Koh are the two brightest people in Spore
@@TacticalMayoNobody asked you to describe US soil 😂
@@accountantthe3394 nope Chinese soil.
@@TacticalMayo uh huh keep huffin dat hopium 🥱
It is very heart-warming to see all the distinguished speakers to support Kishore, nit that he needs any introduction and cajoling. Looking fwd to the new book and all the best.
I love listening to Prof Kishore's view about the current affairs, the history, trends and geopolitical rivalry/ developments in our world today. His opinions, views, replies to questions from the press especially from the western channels, statistic data and predictions are just spot on. However, I do see most younger generation of Singaporean today is rather westernized to a great extend than before. Hence, the westernized = modernized mentality in which is eroding the past wisdom, neutrality, heritage and uniqueness like their late nation founder father, leaderships or the brilliant scholars like Prof Kishore Mahbubani we have today. Or am I wrong?
It's hard to imagine that this is the Asian century when Asia still busy lifting itself out of her poverty or busy building weapons of warfare or busy creating conflicts with their neighbours. Besides the US and Europe are busy pulling the levers of their global hegemony, including depriving Asia and Africa of the resources of development through the Ukraine war. Encouraging and prophesising warfare on the Asian continent is the West's strategy to curtail the inevitable Asian century, which is still only a probability. India and China need a 'perestroika' like event in their relations to make the probability real.
Asia is already the manufacturing centre of the world
Love him ❤
Since when did he slander I haven't seen any of his work slender China in India . Strange very strange
Mr CV Devan Nair (President of Singapore 1981-1985) published in 1976 an anthology “Socialism That Works: The Singapore Way” which included an essay by Dr Goh Keng Swee entitled “A socialist economy that works”.
In the era of “Socialism with Chinese Characteristics”, Dr Goh’s essay might perhaps be retitled “Capitalism With Singaporean Characteristics”?
Without a doubt, dependency theory has had to have driven this direction the pioneers of SG leadership had taken
Appreciate this video. Thankyou 🙏
29:14 What is the difference between realism and pragmatism? Are we dividing hairs here....
Does realism totally depart from pragmatism in its applicationi?
Yea absolutely..just semantics and quite typical of unthinking contrarians
While I am a fan of these 4 wisest men / woman, I'm not sure whether it's the best occasion for Prof Chan to raise the controversy of Kishore's past comment about small states acting as small states. It's inappropriate for Kishore to respond to it. Besides, it had been widely covered in the media.
But for many viewers (like me) after some googling, I thought Kishore's lessons from Qatar are neither flawed nor muddled.
To use the Laws of the Jungle mentioned by Prof Koh, if you are a goose in the jungle, don't act like a bear. Don't be seen as pairing up with the tiger against the lion or vice versa either. As Ambassador Ong said, practise prudence as a small state. By all means, be a smart fox to be useful to both the tiger and the lion but it should not be one against another, like what Qatar was doing.
On this point, I wonder whether Singapore is now seen as pairing up with one side more than with the other. The media that I watch seem to suggest so, while Singapore at the same time subscribes to Asean's centrality and neutrality.
Is Kishore's comment of prudence as a small state, in this case not seen as taking side relevant?
Please this is my last request my life has been ruined by the witness yes

If you place the current world into the history of China, then you are living under the rule of the Yuan dynasty now. In the West, probably they will call it the dark ages.
If you think in term of capitalism and the avaricious capitalists, then we are in the chaotic world of 魏晋南北朝 (AD220 to AD 589): The USA, the UK, Japan, Argentina, South Korea, and the Philippines are some examples, add in India if you want to expand the list.
Congratulations, if you think you don't belong to the 99.99%.

Danny, how come at your stage, you have to use prepared notes to present your introductory comments. Do you lack confidence in your yourself?
Even if he lacks the confidence, it's ok, there is nothing wrong.
@@atky7032Different people have different styles. Nothing to do with confidence. As he said, Kishore attracts both haters and admirers. So it's best he follows the script closely.
If manufacturing consumables is it, I guess you are right, and it's China that is doing that. However, many countries can do so and are doing so to ensure security of supplies. I believev that real power and superpower comes from cutting edge technology products. Asia is just not up to it, but may be in the future if they can accept peaceful co-prosperity in their neighbourhood. However, I have my doubts as they are still in the civilisational mode, but the plus point is that the West is in the uncivilisational mode. An Asian century and superpowers that are constantly warring as did Europe before them, but none will survive their barbarism.
TO HAVE THAT HAPPEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE UNITED STATES ACCEPT. I PROMISE YOU THE UNITED STATES WILL ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER ACCEPT. SO YOU GOT TO GET READY FOR WHAT COMES WITH IT.

VERY GOOD
Who had you warned and for what reason?
Nonsensical theory without any basis.
Inspite of his own poor background and sufferings , he does not hesitate to slander India and China for the crimes the west hv committed against them
He had never slandered either China or India.
You have to be on another planet to make such allegations 😂😂
His views have always been on point, objective and if anything scathing of the western mainstream media and critical of some western governments from the viewpoint of a friend as he often puts it himself “I am a friend of the west”. He has not once seen slandering India or China. In fact he doesn’t even slander the west!
Are you high? Kishore has never slandered India or China.
But yet for some reason you're still using a western United States social media platform to say it.🤣
@@kenstaroz1536Oh he is not a friend of the West. He is a pro China wumao shill to the core of his soul.
I'm wondering would it be a sight to behold if these Singaporean "thinkers" were to have a debate with Chinese kids from the Chinese universities.
No shame when there is no comparison.
Ha ha ha!
You really miss the point. Geopolitics is not about who wins any debate. Kishore has ably taken on formidable critics from around the world. It's about hearts and minds. The Western mainstream media have so thoroughly dominated the media space, including Singapore's, pushing the pro-US narrative. Even Reuters, AP and AFP that Singapore's media depends much on carries a persistent anti-China undertone. These insidious falsehoods are what Kishore has been trying to debunk tirelessly.
@@Time4Peace So why CNA has become a mini-BBC? Japan Hour has been going on for how many years? Did he say anything about this foreign influences?
SG is a little red dot or white dot? Or it is confused now?
Kishore is from within the establishment, he won't dare to criticise SG leaderships, let alone God LKY.
Don't be sacred by his social status, he has a long way to go before he can really consider himself a China expert. He still has problem to understand India even.
Ha ha ha!
@@GASIA-cw8iw So what's you point? That he is not a China expert? That China is smarter than the rest of the world? That Kishore is wrong to call out to the US that China is not the enemy? Or do you just want to show that you are smarter than Kishore?
@@Time4Peace Shallow, you don't have to play with those politically correct words.
Very interesting
