9:46 Victor brought up that “a citizen cannot criticize the leaders of the country, just like the British cannot criticize King Charles…” When Mehdi said he is British but he can criticize King Charles, Victor said “Every Country is different.” It’s slapping his own face.
Actually to be frank, we are the people living in China and there are so many way for us to express ourselves. If not, how can the country improve? It will just be a corrupted state. Don't be so naive and just cover everything in just one over-generalized statement, there are not much details within and don't try to be affected by some simplified views. I agree that within China we are not as free as some western states, but imagine what would happen if we are holding "Communism" is great and start a propaganda in the west, I guess some people will also try to put out that fire in some ways since they support so-called their democracy and don't want to be challenged.
So why are the British so proud of the fact that they can go criticize King Charles when King Charles, would still bel King Charles. Does this right translate into a better economy - NO!? Is the UK become safer? No!. So why are they so proud is irrational.

How unfortunate it is to witness what was called an “interview” devolve into little more than a display of entrenched biases, disrespectful interruptions, and so-called evidence left unchecked and unverified. Is this truly the forum we envision for meaningful exchange? By its very nature, a genuine interview ought to create a space that fosters respect, fairness, and the open exploration of perspective. Its purpose is to seek insight and information from the interviewee, to cultivate constructive dialogue, rather than to undermine the guest or deepen ideological divides. In truth, the host may as well have conducted the show alone, for the conversation fell quickly into monologue; it became clear his intent was to lecture rather than to listen. The Chinese official shared views that, while distinct, were not simply personal-they reflected the perspectives and positions of Chinese official discourse, articulated with a certain logical consistency. One may attempt to suppress such views with louder voices or brusque tactics, but this merely reveals something about the speaker’s civility and openness to discourse, or the lack thereof.

However, in terms of foreign policy, considering its economic and military power, it is one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Compare it to the U.S. and all the wars it has initiated since the end of WWII, as well as its support of Israel the only apartheid country in the world. The U.S. isn't bothered by the lack of democracy in China ،they don't care about the Chinese people at all. The only thing that bothers the U.S. is the econoic and the military growth of China.

@@Teralek
I wish the interviewer would let the person finish and not keep interrupting while his question being answered.
Mehdi this was the best interview of the year on main stream media congratulations 🫡 you smashed it bro 👊
I am a Chinese from Taiwan and I felt so sad for them! Repression is so rampant and human rights violations has been done with utter impunity.
Victor Gao answered so well.
The host is so rude that he keeps interrupting Gao.
Jesus Christ! This was one of the most satisfying interviews I've ever seen. I wish I prepared some pop corn. Way to go Mehdi!
Thank you Mehdi
Very brave interview. Quite refreshing to listen to. Thank you.
Mehdi Hasan is brilliant! Thank you, please, we want more of his excellent work!
he's a terrible interviewer. all he does is interrupt and yell
i need part two of this chapter! enjoy watching here ☺️
Interrupting others continuously to prevent them from expressing their own views. Is this what is called "freedom of speech"?
Never seen an ad on UA-cam I couldn't skip after a few seconds. WTF?
I truly appreciate and enjoy your program! However, please make an effort to avoid interrupting your guests while they are speaking. Please allow them to complete their sentences without any interruptions so that they can express their thoughts and ideas freely. Thank you
I love this show. Please keep it floating
As a Malaysian Chinese, I’m relieved to see Mehdi call out the CCP’s representatives for what they are-mouthpieces of a regime rooted in authoritarian control. It’s clear that China continues to operate under a dictatorship, where dissent is suppressed, and the pursuit of aggressive geopolitical goals remains unchecked. The most alarming aspect is their expansionist ambitions, like their threats toward Taiwan and their unjust claims over islands belonging to other nations. More voices need to speak up against such an autocratic regime, standing for democracy and sovereignty.
I live in New Zealand and China is one of our biggest trade partners. Watching this I feel our government needs to be very careful with the business arrangement it signs up to with China. I mean if we get too far in debt I could see China eroding the fabric of our own democracy and freedom of speech.
@@bendybruceIt’s too late for Tonga , they are deeply in-debt and 80% of it is owed to China .
There’s about 500 non resident Chinese staying there plus more who have residency.
And given the laughable case of a half a billion dollars of methamphetamine being found in Northland involving Chinese, Tongans and locals , I wouldn’t be surprised if Chinese weren’t behind the epidemic of methamphetamine abuse in Tonga.
"If I disappear, i hope you would bail me out" I 😭😭
Saturday Night couldn't write a better line for Gao than that.
The Dawkins interview made me disregard this channel...This was great, subscribed
And talking about aggressive nations, who’s funding the genocide in Gaza?
where is part 2, i will pay to watch! Way more fun than Netflix =)))))))))
It is more like a comedy show with Victor Gao 😂
Sad to see Mehdi .... asking these questions to a Chinese gentlemen...why not ask US or Israeli chiefs
I love your reporting and miss you on the other network
why 9 dash line claim not address,, Victor & the host purposely skip Philippines
A proof that China will not let a free-expression of ideas, might have been crossed-out from the list to make. Victor agree to this debate.
