    Beautiful Tbird, sir.
    Now that you've shown us the carburetor rag, you have to fix the other half of your carburetor. I know you can do it. I have faith in you.

    Wow! what an awesome looking car . I enjoy hearing about cars which have been part of the family for a long time . Loved the way you held the mirror out the window to reverse the car . Looking forward to the door adjustment . We needed to do that to my 1966 Valiant . What a bastard of a job .

    • @MartsGarage
      @MartsGarage  9 місяців тому

      With that narrow gate the mirror is handy. I'm not as flexible as I used to be. It's ok with the top down but really difficult to see if the top is up.

    Great looking T-bird Mart! With how easily it fired up, I'd say it deserves to be taken out for a drive to blow the cobwebs out.

    Hi Mart, I see the wifes Pyrex jug got used again (hmmm super unleaded flavour yorkshire puds, lovely lol) T-bird went pretty easy considering how long it stood, surpised you don't insure it on a limite mileage classic policy to go to your car meets as it's tax & mot exempt (isn't it?) so only real cost is fuel (it's as good as the other cars you've shown in some of the videos --- those Cragar alloys really give it a nice look with the red paint job), as others have said in the comments get the 4 barrel sorted and maybe adjust the door hanging and she'll be a fine motor ready for another 40 years ------ maybe you'll have to get a T-birds leather jacket and learn to dance like John Travolta LOL.

    • @MartsGarage
      @MartsGarage  9 місяців тому

      Hi Steve. I'll pass on the jacket and dancing, thanks. Carb and door fit are more my strongpoint. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Very nice car Mart! I'm surprised the battery had so much life in it after sitting for so long. My old 6v battery needs to charge all day at least after sitting for 3mnths.

      @MartsGarage  9 місяців тому

      Hi Kevin. Other than the 100E I use the same battery type in all the cars. In case of a problem I can borrow one. I have mixed success with batteries. These seem ok. Thanks for watching.

    I had a 1955 Tbird replica made by Shay, they also made 10,000 model ‘A’ replicas and sold them in Ford dealerships late 70’s early 80’s.

    I have 3 57s with those engines without vacuum advance because they're high performance and vacuum advances aren't timing accurate. As they were collector cars from new there are still a lot of early Birds and we still drive birds just like yours across this big country. They are very durable easy to maintain strong machines. Keep using high zinc engine oil.

    Nice Bird Mart. You did a good job on that restoration and the paint has held up well over the years. Typical of cars parked in difficult places in garages.....they don't get used enough. Same as my 64 1/2 Mustang that is poked against a wall in the back of my small garage.

    • @MartsGarage
      @MartsGarage  9 місяців тому

      Hi Graeme. It's so easy to leave them sitting, especially with whatever new little gem is taking the attention. Insurance costs are significant also so it takes a commitment to get them out again. It is rewarding, though. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Mart , do I remember correctly that you saw your T bird on an old programme on London back in the 60s. Or did I make it up. Ian.

    • @MartsGarage
      @MartsGarage  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi Ian. Yeah it was a episode of Man Alive. It was shown in the late 80s to celebrate 25 years of the Man Alive series. It was about people who worked in and around Soho. It cut from a night scene to a morning after scene showing an old man busking on a street. Parked right behind him was the T-Bird. I have searched many times but have not found a video of it.

  • @artpam
    @artpam 9 місяців тому +1

    I've always thought the 57 T-bird and cars were great looking machines. I know Ford continued to use the "Load-a-matic" ignition advance on Y-block engines but I don't know when they discontinued it. Does yours have a mechanical advance? I had no idea you had owned it so long.

    • @MartsGarage
      @MartsGarage  9 місяців тому +2

      Hi Art. 57 had a few things we now consider as "normal". Conventional non loado type distributor. Recognisable Holley not towering inferno type carb. 9" rear axle. 12V electrics (also in 56 I think). 14" wheels were intro'd in 57 too. Thanks for watching.

  • @MrBrendog67rat

  • @Hazzy238
    @Hazzy238 9 місяців тому +1

    I'm just not fully understanding about car collecting . The T-Bird is a wonderful piece of kit . It is going up in value all the time . Never gets driven and not on display (visible). Is it just the pleasure of owning it? Is that what is going to happen to the Prefect?

    • @MartsGarage
      @MartsGarage  9 місяців тому

      In reality I should have sold it years ago. I find it very easy to buy things but very difficult to sell. The 100E will be sold probably later this year.
