That "Queen Filter" is a filter for a "Filter Queen" vacuum cleaner. They probably still make that exact model, as they are tanks as far as vacuum cleaners go.
Yeah, they're sorta like a fancy shop vac sorta configuration. Little felt thing was designed to muffle the exhaust and also to be sprayed w fragrances so the exhaust smells nice.
*Oh that ain't rusty on these. Rusty is when it looks like someone tried to can opener the roof on all four sides and the bed's style line has a quarter inch gap corroded through the steel.*
My parents bought a Filter Queen over 30 years ago and they still use it to this day. Thankfully that horrid smelling perfume crap that came with it has long since been used up lol.
Awesome plug for the military! I was in the Air Force for a little over 2 years (until I developed a heart murmur) But it was the best decision ever. I had no direction coming out of high school. The service not only gave me valuable electronics training, but also taught me self discipline, a fantastic work ethic and so much more.
Great life advice about the military. Air Force vet here. I was never interested in playing soldier, but military service allowed me to learn a valuable skill, live in Europe as a young man, gave me focus, helped me grow up, learn discipline and other life skills, and also paid for college. Kevin I laughed when you looked to the sky and identified the noise. As a former air traffic controller I do the same when I hear military aircraft go over. You never forget that "sound of freedom"...
First of all. Thank You for your service. I pretty much followed the same path you took, as far as Military service and college degree from an accredited School. My MOS was 63B/52D Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic/ Power Gen Equipment repair. You were probably still in grade school when I went through it, and I doubt It's changed much since then. My education was completely paid for from the Army, and it makes a huge difference when starting out. Our Veteran status certainly opens a lot of doors!
Tanks for the talk about the National Guard. I did 3 years active, got out and went to school on the GI bill, free education. Took my degree in nursing and spent 20 twin the Army National Guard as a Nurse Officer. Retired as a Major! Good advice!

I went into the Coast Guard went to Kodiak had a blast learned to be a heavy equipment operator and spent 20 years as a civilian doing my trade. Thank You for Your Service. I was a Peace Time Vet after Vietnam and before Granada. Some really fun times in the Motor Pool!!!!
Going along with Kevin’s advice about joining some form of military, if that’s not your thing, I strongly recommend trying to find an apprenticeship, I have one with my local water provider here in the uk, and it’s a great way to start earning, get free education, and get paid. You get a decent choice of industries and companies to apply for, so you can really choose something that suits you
Whatever you do, even if it's not college, study, learn, find something that interests you and seize onto it. Don't stop learning and improving your mind.

I had the same experience with the mechanical engineering program at a state school here in California. Showed us the shops, talked about building a car for autocross or the solar car challenge, etc. Actually did nothing but math and physics. Our labs were solidworks or cad, but never touched any tools. Total bait and switch.
Back when these trucks are cheap / new the industry was driven by farming, Farmers never bought a Mopar or a sports car they only bought an F-250 or 4-door station wagon. In time all the square body Chevys got scraped or bought up during the square body craze, and now it's time to find all those old Fords sitting out back. Always too faithful to scrap! back

That life advice is ON POINT... College isn't for everyone and most High Schools today condition kids to believe the ONLY WAY they will be successful in life is to get saddled with $100,000 in debt and spend years trying to get a degree in oversaturated job markets... Every female that went through my high school was pushed to either go into nursing or cosmetology... Our public school system kept pushing out and shutting down vocational programs and only pushed Computers, Teaching, medical or "business"... I had a buddy join the Marine Corps and go into tank, heavy equipment, and truck repair... Recieved all his certification for free, while collecting a paycheck and benefits. Now that he's out, he could quite literally go anywhere and get a job repairing or operating heavy equipment due to his militaryexperienceand training... Dump Trucks, Big Rigs, City/County/State highway departments, construction companies...

In-line 300 6 cyl is probably one of the toughest motors ever made I’ve owned a dozen Ford trucks with that motor over the years and other than being a gas hog they never leave you stranded
All of the F150's that my grandfather owned over the years while I was growing up all had the 300 inline-6 in them. Except for the current truck which has the 4.2 v6 in it. Which is probably based off the Triton and is probably a bad motor. But I don't think there's any Triton badges on the truck so it might not be. :)
@@yeetus59 I would buy one drive it a year sell it go a year or two and need a truck and buy another always f100,150 and once a f250 with the 300 never had a problem the f250 hunting one year the carter carburetor got loose leaked gas all over tightened it with a pocket knife and drove it 30 miles home the 300 was originally designed by Cummins as a diesel motor ford bought the patent and changed it to gas
Im working on a 1965 F100 that has been sitting for 17 years after the PO drove it from Texas to AZ, parked it, started to work on it then passed away shortly after moving to AZ. Same sort of setup 300 inline 6 with 3 on the tree. Got mine running but not driving yet, still have a bit of work to do on it to make it road worthy but on a shoe string budget its really really slow going.
Awesome dude, I'm jealous. Always dreamed of getting a 65-66 F100 with the 300. I have my father's sixth generation 100 with the three on the tree 300 straight six.
In my country we call that Industrial Engineering, you literally graduate as an engineer without all the bureaucratic hassle. Idk felt like sharing, and as always, excellent video !
Industrial Engineering is more time motion studies / yamazumis, ergonomics, cba, 8 waste, value stream mapping ( reduce cost by increasing efficiency decreasing lead /cycle time). applied would be more mechanical with real world applications similar to Industrial Technology Management or the like
Electrician myself here, nothing wrong with trades as well, to any young guys and gals reading this. It does beat up your body, but so does dropping transmissions on your chest while under a 60 year old rust bucket 😂
Been watching your content for a couple of years I guess, and have always enjoyed it. I do like that you are including more "training, and knowledge" in your content, and I respect your attitude about career paths and hard work. The knowledge segment you did a while back in the motor home was excellent too as was the info provided on this segment. You're an industrious guy, and I too - many years ago, graduated with a degree in Industrial Technology. Thank you for your military service, and for providing something good, educational, and entertaining to watch here on youtube.
I retired from the NG as an 11C. It paid for 100 percent of my undergrad tuition and most of my grad school. Some risk goes along with the enlistment but it is a great program. I agree about the differences with the Army and the Airforce. I have no complaints but I told my kids if they decide to join, the airforce has its advantages.
We had those solid glass fuses in the house where I grew up. Sometimes they would explode entirely if I remember correctly, but was almost 40 years ago.
Discovered your channel very recently trying to learn stuff, liking your advice on life. I did a few years South African military service, followed by some nursing qualifications because my head was screwed up after active duty deployments. My training was also through government hospitals, got trained, paid and given accommodation. Best advice my dad ever gave me. Really enjoy you guys fixing stuff on a budget. Thanks.
Agreed on your advice with military service. Myself, University of Illinois ROTC program ,1980 Graduate with a degree in Engineering. It was a honor serving my country and the experience from that extended into my working career.
terminal too short ? ... no problem ...take an old crushed can you found on the nearest parking lot, take scissors from your car med kit (or anything else that can cut it) cut it up into strips and then add as many strips as you need ... (redbull can works)

Yep inline six spins forever, not a Ford guy, prefer Chevy, but the straight six engine is a diamond running forever. Had several 6-cyl Chevy's in the past, no issues at all.

That was invaluable career advice. I wasted a year on a program once for a useless diploma. Got dooped. I was struggling and I just did a lot of night school as a single parent. 10 years later got myself to associate degrees in my two fields of hvac and photography. Own a house. Own a car. AND STILL PAYING THAT WORTHLESS DIPLOMA LOAN BACK. At 50mo because fuck them. Oh and did I mention I also now own a 1965 Ford Custom 2dr coupe with a 240 i6 engine and c4 cruise o matic transmission. That's BEAUTIFUL inside and out. I'd hate for someone to learn the hard way like I did. Good job keep pushing that life advice.
I had a 300 with the 1 barrel on my '82 F-150. Best set up I even had in a truck. Wouldn't win any races... or beauty contests... but it started every day I owned it and never let me down once.
I was a Abrams tank mechanic and a recovery specialist. I learned a ton about the AGT 1500 and how to get stuff unstuck. I had a blast. Did it for 12 yrs before I was medically discharged and although I have pain, I’m now paid for the remainder of my life.
I love all your life advice. I’m getting old now but if any young person asks I like to say any military job is better than nothing!! Bless you and hope your house move goes well.
Love the life lessons : ) joined the Guard at 17 years old in 1985. 63N tank mechanic. 6 active and 2 IRR. Also wished I had gone Air Force. Lol. Also qualified for VA home loan. No down payment and seller covered closing costs. Veterans United took good care of me.
Absolutely agree on military service. I'm a federal firefighter making a very good living after 5 yrs Air Force firefighter. Best decision I ever made. 👍
You can actually get a double degree at ISU in 4 years, you will walk away with your AST (AG systems technology) and industrial technology. You basically take industrial technology and add three classes and get a second whole degree. Give mechanical engineering a try for sure! But if talk to is too hard for you remember there's always i tech. Walk into sukup and find the reception desk. ask for Tamara and tell her Kevin sent ya 😎🇺🇲

As a vet I tell youngins looking to join the military if you want to prove something to yourself and go through the fire, join the Marines, if you want to a blue collar career join the Navy, if you want a white collar career join the Air Force, if none of those will take you join the Army. 🤣
Former Army here: my only addition, Coast Guard will get you pretty much the same benefits and it’s right up there with the Air Force for not roughing it
As a Mechanical Engineer of 10 years that explanation is a bit misleading, ME is a wide field and while the core of it is "doing calculations and running simulations" you could be doing Stress analysis, Thermodynamics, Fluid dynamics, you could be on the design side, manufacturing side, testing and R&D side.... so if you wanted to design and do testing on those diesels you could easily do that with an ME degree (actually more so than an Industrial Engineering degree).

All depends on the parts of Iowa ya go... small towns just 10 to 15 miles out from the big city would try and sell it for 1.5k or higher. We have a guy in my city trying to sell a '73 mustered yellow Mach 1 for 10k xD. Rusted enough to give ya weeks worth of Iron and the miles are like 180k on the original engine and other stuff. Honestly I would give him a grand for it and call it good xD

The good thing about Ford trucks for 67 thru 72, is they changed the grille every single year. Makes them very easy to I.D assuming someone hasnt swapped them around! Those factory radio delete plates are a rare little number to find. Always happy to see another bumpside done by you, Kevin!
Being a USAF vet('76-'80 jet engine troop, 28 BW Ellsworth AFB, SD), yes, they have plenty of technical training to get when you enlist. Best thing I did for myself at age 18! Now 64 and been retired for 9 years(retired at age 55), anyone can do it if they set their mind to it! Great video on the venerable Ford inline 6 engine, can't break them with a hammer. That fuel pump with the integral filter... I just replaced the one on my 1977 F150. Got it from NAPA. The one you have looks like it is rebuildable!!! It looks like you can replace the pump diaphragm!!! Mine is crimped. My old 1968 Cougar with a 289/302 had that style pump too, but when it died, I replaced it with a non-filter pump. Shame that contour rear bumper is bent. 240? My '77 has a 1968 240 that someone swapped in. A screwdriver through the sparkplug hole resulted in closer to three inches of stroke. 300 will stroke closer to four inches. This channel kicks ass, and approaches Watch Wes Work levels of intellect!!

The old Volvo's from the 60s and 70s has the radio delete plate to. Usually is on the 121 Amazone an the pv544 and on some of the 142s

Water and spirit vintage is great to clean the copper and the put in bicarbonate soda with water works a treat to re vitalise the copper
In-line 300 6 cyl is probably one of the toughest motors ever made I’ve owned a dozen Ford trucks with that motor over the years and other than being a gas hog they never leave you stranded
All of the F150's that my grandfather owned over the years while I was growing up all had the 300 inline-6 in them. Except for the current truck which has the 4.2 v6 in it. Which is probably based off the Triton and is probably a bad motor. But I don't think there's any Triton badges on the truck so it might not be. :)

@@yeetus59 I would buy one drive it a year sell it go a year or two and need a truck and buy another always f100,150 and once a f250 with the 300 never had a problem the f250 hunting one year the carter carburetor got loose leaked gas all over tightened it with a pocket knife and drove it 30 miles home the 300 was originally designed by Cummins as a diesel motor ford bought the patent and changed it to gas

Im working on a 1965 F100 that has been sitting for 17 years after the PO drove it from Texas to AZ, parked it, started to work on it then passed away shortly after moving to AZ. Same sort of setup 300 inline 6 with 3 on the tree. Got mine running but not driving yet, still have a bit of work to do on it to make it road worthy but on a shoe string budget its really really slow going.
Awesome dude, I'm jealous. Always dreamed of getting a 65-66 F100 with the 300. I have my father's sixth generation 100 with the three on the tree 300 straight six.

Industrial Engineering is more time motion studies / yamazumis, ergonomics, cba, 8 waste, value stream mapping ( reduce cost by increasing efficiency decreasing lead /cycle time). applied would be more mechanical with real world applications similar to Industrial Technology Management or the like

Been watching your content for a couple of years I guess, and have always enjoyed it. I do like that you are including more "training, and knowledge" in your content, and I respect your attitude about career paths and hard work. The knowledge segment you did a while back in the motor home was excellent too as was the info provided on this segment. You're an industrious guy, and I too - many years ago, graduated with a degree in Industrial Technology. Thank you for your military service, and for providing something good, educational, and entertaining to watch here on youtube.
I retired from the NG as an 11C. It paid for 100 percent of my undergrad tuition and most of my grad school. Some risk goes along with the enlistment but it is a great program. I agree about the differences with the Army and the Airforce. I have no complaints but I told my kids if they decide to join, the airforce has its advantages.
We had those solid glass fuses in the house where I grew up. Sometimes they would explode entirely if I remember correctly, but was almost 40 years ago.
Discovered your channel very recently trying to learn stuff, liking your advice on life.
I did a few years South African military service, followed by some nursing qualifications because my head was screwed up after active duty deployments. My training was also through government hospitals, got trained, paid and given accommodation. Best advice my dad ever gave me.

Agreed on your advice with military service. Myself, University of Illinois ROTC program ,1980 Graduate with a degree in Engineering. It was a honor serving my country and the experience from that extended into my working career.

Best life advice ever. As a 12b, if I could go back I would of chosen a different mos.
I'd daily that F100 truthfully all the inline six engines I've owned were all strong and decent on the fuel.
But the thing is, it is high mileage and stood for a long time. Probably needs a lot more work to be able to actually daily.
There is no such thing as a bad straight 6. Think about it. All of them are great, because the I6 is the purest, naturally balanced rotating assembly.
@@tnc7399 I bought a 73 f100 302 3 speed for $750 all I needed to make it dailyable was $300 for all the brakes but I’ve put a lot more into it than I should’ve but I daily it

Yep inline six spins forever, not a Ford guy, prefer Chevy, but the straight six engine is a diamond running forever. Had several 6-cyl Chevy's in the past, no issues at all.

That was invaluable career advice. I wasted a year on a program once for a useless diploma. Got dooped. I was struggling and I just did a lot of night school as a single parent. 10 years later got myself to associate degrees in my two fields of hvac and photography. Own a house. Own a car. AND STILL PAYING THAT WORTHLESS DIPLOMA LOAN BACK. At 50mo because fuck them.
Oh and did I mention I also now own a 1965 Ford Custom 2dr coupe with a 240 i6 engine and c4 cruise o matic transmission. That's BEAUTIFUL inside and out.
I'd hate for someone to learn the hard way like I did.

I had a 300 with the 1 barrel on my '82 F-150. Best set up I even had in a truck. Wouldn't win any races... or beauty contests... but it started every day I owned it and never let me down once.
Love these old F100s. They are mostly bulletproof!

I was a Abrams tank mechanic and a recovery specialist. I learned a ton about the AGT 1500 and how to get stuff unstuck. I had a blast. Did it for 12 yrs before I was medically discharged and although I have pain, I’m now paid for the remainder of my life.
I love all your life advice. I’m getting old now but if any young person asks I like to say any military job is better than nothing!! Bless you and hope your house move goes well.
Love the life lessons : ) joined the Guard at 17 years old in 1985. 63N tank mechanic. 6 active and 2 IRR. Also wished I had gone Air Force. Lol. Also qualified for VA home loan. No down payment and seller covered closing costs. Veterans United took good care of me.

Look into Ag Systems Technology with Machine Systems focus. It is similar to Mech Eng but less math.
You can actually get a double degree at ISU in 4 years, you will walk away with your AST (AG systems technology) and industrial technology. You basically take industrial technology and add three classes and get a second whole degree.
Give mechanical engineering a try for sure! But if talk to is too hard for you remember there's always i tech.

As a vet I tell youngins looking to join the military if you want to prove something to yourself and go through the fire, join the Marines, if you want to a blue collar career join the Navy, if you want a white collar career join the Air Force, if none of those will take you join the Army. 🤣
Former Army here: my only addition, Coast Guard will get you pretty much the same benefits and it’s right up there with the Air Force for not roughing it

As a Mechanical Engineer of 10 years that explanation is a bit misleading, ME is a wide field and while the core of it is "doing calculations and running simulations" you could be doing Stress analysis, Thermodynamics, Fluid dynamics, you could be on the design side, manufacturing side, testing and R&D side.... so if you wanted to design and do testing on those diesels you could easily do that with an ME degree (actually more so than an Industrial Engineering degree).
You might not be Asian, but you're definitely brilliant!

All depends on the parts of Iowa ya go... small towns just 10 to 15 miles out from the big city would try and sell it for 1.5k or higher. We have a guy in my city trying to sell a '73 mustered yellow Mach 1 for 10k xD. Rusted enough to give ya weeks worth of Iron and the miles are like 180k on the original engine and other stuff. Honestly I would give him a grand for it and call it good xD

The good thing about Ford trucks for 67 thru 72, is they changed the grille every single year. Makes them very easy to I.D assuming someone hasnt swapped them around! Those factory radio delete plates are a rare little number to find.

Being a USAF vet('76-'80 jet engine troop, 28 BW Ellsworth AFB, SD), yes, they have plenty of technical training to get when you enlist. Best thing I did for myself at age 18! Now 64 and been retired for 9 years(retired at age 55), anyone can do it if they set their mind to it!

That fuel pump with the integral filter... I just replaced the one on my 1977 F150. Got it from NAPA. The one you have looks like it is rebuildable!!! It looks like you can replace the pump diaphragm!!! Mine is crimped. My old 1968 Cougar with a 289/302 had that style pump too, but when it died, I replaced it with a non-filter pump. Shame that contour rear bumper is bent.
240? My '77 has a 1968 240 that someone swapped in. A screwdriver through the sparkplug hole resulted in closer to three inches of stroke. 300 will stroke closer to four inches.
