My first time watching. I had to see it run. My parents wanted to move from Philadelphia to the newly built suburban community of Levittown Pennsylvania in 1952...but there was no train service for Dad to get to his job at a bank. So his boss lent him $50 to buy a car... and it was a 50 Chevy. Sure looked like one. I only saw a picture because I wasn't born until 1954. I know it was green and white top, that body style, and Mom was preggers with me when she learned how to drive in it and took her driver's test.
Just totally amazing how you bring things back to life that thing was dead Gone locked up, ready for the junkyard but you pursued and you didn't quit and you got it going running and saved another fine classic I applaud you and Christina you're such a good team keep up the good work 👍
That look on your face when she kept running was priceless. I was cheering for you all the way through this video. Great job and a good lesson on never giving up!
My goodness this brings back memories from the 50’s when I was a kid. Grandpa Musick was a Chevy guy and I remember riding with him in these early Chevys. He had a 51, a53 & a 56. Worked on his cars. Old school shade tree mechanic. Man I wish I was able to restore one. Thank y’all so much for your determination.
They don't build stuff like that anymore I'll guarantee you that any of the cars that are made today couldn't set that long and be brought back to life

I bought for my wife a brand new Chevrolet Cobalt Z22 in the show room of the dealership back in 2010 but she dont drive it often, the millage is now close to 600 miles... yep
Good job in getting it running, now all you have to do is the brakes and cleaning the interior out, so you can drive it around alittle, Looking forward to these video's.

Well done again Richard and Christina! I love the tenacity, there was a lot of work there, which is difficult to convey in a video but it paid off in the end.. You got it running 🎉
*England calling*……Theoretically, no one should have attempted that engine, logically, nope, nope, nopitty nope it should not have run. I am amazed that you got it loose, let alone fire it up with no adjustment on anything, not even new gaskets!! Are you ‘The engine whisperer’?, fair shout fella & lady you blew me away on that one, love to get you over here in a scrap yard & see what you could get running!! 😮
Thanks Steve. We have never been to a UK junkyard. It would be quite an experience I am sure. I agree it was ridiculous how soon it fired after the work was done. That carb was full of water, yet a quick no parts rebuild fixed it! Crazy.
I've always dreamt of having an old car from that era, even up to early 60s, just to have a patina style budget rat rod to build with my 15yo son & cruise around! Maybe some day? That 50 Chevy in my eyes would be a great candidate.. Kinda sad to see it get parted out! I watch all yalls videos & man what a cool gig! Thankyou guys! ✌️

Its looking decent like this but windows have bullet holes and shattered glass. The back window was shattered. My grandfather told me he first learned how to drive in that car. That was a friggin awesome video on this locked up motor. In the end, I'm glad you couldn't get the trans to work with the rear tires up against the wheel chocks, looked like something bad was about to happen. Don't part this poor car out, I actually would love to see a part 3 of more on this car. You know the deal, pressure wash and clean up the interior and get it driving down the road. Keep up the good work...

Good old 216 stovebolt 6! Sounds like it still has a stuck valve or 3, but it may seal up after you run it for a while.. they've been known to do that.🤣 With the old splash lube bottom end, you definitely want to keep plenty of oil in it (straight 30w. or straight 40w. on a high mileage engine). That 7 or 8 lbs. of oil pressure is for the top end only. They generally have cast iron pistons, unless they were changed out for weighted aluminum slugs, which usually last a lot longer. If it continues to run, you'll probably want to change the oil a few times in the next 50 miles or so to get all the crud out of the bottom end.😉
