For someone who's lived for two years in Florida (Long Key, but unfortunately I'm now back in the UK), I've been following you guys for some months, now. I just want to wish you all the greatest of success with the new store and the grand opening... you deserve it! BTW, if you ever get a chance to fish at night from Tiki Island at Outdoor Resorts, Long Key, I would highly recommend it. I've caught so many species from there but never managed to land a Tarpon from there. If you do get there... vidio please! 🙂

A grill set up in the parking lot with some picnic tables and sharing all your culinary skills? Just a thought I had. Nonetheless, I always look for the new postings from all you guys. When you say deep water between the bars, how deep do you mean? Between 3 to 6 feet or more? Because the nearshore troughs at the beaches near me don't get much more than 4 or so feet deep.
So Matt, make sure you rest up after the Grand Opening. You are looking a little ragged! Topwater in the surf, is something I have never tried before. I know these spooks are great lures for many types of fish though. Fun video.

When you are talking deep pockets are you referring to the wash in front of the bar. Hard to see in a two dimensional picture. I only can see some shallow breakers

Agreed on the leader thing… I still prefer fluoro to mono even on topwater. Maybe I’m missing fish bc of that, but i just like the feel of fluoro.

If you’re targeting flounder, try reeling slower/ keeping your bait in one spot or popping it and they’ll pick it up off the bottom.
