@esperago Hey Esperago. I'm from New Brunswick, I was thinking the same thing, I don't see any reason why not, use night crawlers and give it a try. I'm in Texas for the winter, but returning soon.
You and I sir, spending an hour or two on the beach whether they bite or not, would have a grand time. That's what it's all about. Km's of beach with no one in sight but the water and the sound of the waves.. how beautiful. This is the first video I see from you, but not the last.. going to the next now 🙂 Thank you.
This clip is a welcome break from the usual gamefishing and trolling videos. It just brings us back to basic beach fishing and all the fun that entails. Good one!!!
I first heard the reply "That's why it's called fishing and not catching!" in a well patronised tackle shop in Brissie as a newbie to the area - so true!
I've been salting my own pilchard for about 3 years now. I use two Bulla ice cream tubs. One drilled with multiple holes that fits inside the other with spacers to allow the water to collect. I layer the pilchards with salt then pilchards then salt then pilchard etc until the packet is empty (lots of salt). Even 24 hours makes a difference, but after about 5 days or a week they are very tough. I cut them to size on the beach with scissors. You can either cut them horizontally or vertically -- and they will keep even on the hotest day. And, as you know, you can keep them in the freezer and they don't completely freeze, and are ready to use. The bream love them as does every other fish. Cheers.
Such a great tip mate. Love it! I always had that question if it would be as effective as non-salted ones. Nice to hear it works good for you mate. Thanks for that. Let's go fishing! Cheers, Dan.
Im in the midwest, we have lakes and rivers to fish. Catching and fighting to land the fish is the best experience in your life that you dont want to miss. Nice video and FISH ON!
Cracking short session on what I can only describe as beautiful fishing beach. Two lovely fish in quick succession for tea. Doesn't get much better than that. Arthur, Whitley bay north east UK.

This is my second visit to your beach fishing site and I'm hooked good and proper. You really are a lucky son of a gun having all that beautiful ocean to yourself. Here in the south of England we have to share the Channel with hundreds of tankers and fleet of trawlers that don't leave much fish left for us beach boys. However, catching or not its a great past time. mind you, a fish every now and then brightens the day no end. Thanks for allow me to accompany you on your fishing trip. Over here we call that rig a "Penal" rig. Thanks again and Tight lines
I loved the way your thoughts of being home on time started to slip back a little, especially when looking down on the beautiful fish at your feet. You just can't beat it. Tight lines.
Hey Roger! I was just further up towards the sand spit last week and used your advice and ended up catching some nice tailor, salmon, bream, flatties and a couple rays/sharks. Luckily i filmed the experience so the video will be up in a few weeks
This was great, Roger - having family commitments means as anglers we need to seize whatever opportunity is presented to us. Often it these short sessions under less than ideal conditions which teach us a lot about adjusting and getting the job done.

Great video Roger, Travelling to WA end of March for fishing trip from Albany, Esperance then across the Nullarbor. I haven't done a lot of beach fishing but I soon will be. Showed me some skills needed. Thanks
I don't usually comment but my partner and I recently discovered your channel and I've only started this fishing adventure as I'm now on the coast of WA. No beach worms here 😢 We leave your videos on in the background even if we're not watching. We love it mate. Thankyou 😊
Hi Roger I live in the UK and spent 3 months in Mollymook from Jan to March and not knowing what I was doing I found your videos very helpful and caught a few fish, I will be returning in Jan 2024 for another 3 to 4 months and look forward to putting some of your ideas into use. Tight Lines David
I am 44 years old from Michigan. I have been fishing my whole life and have probably watched a million different nature programs of every sort. I had no clue that there is Giant ass worm creatures living in the sand under the surf. LOL Maybe they are not in the States?Blew my mind! Thanks for showing that.
Great video, I regularly get asked what's the best time to fish, my answer is always the same "when I can" its more important to learn your area and adapt technique to the opportunities available so in my area high tide in close. Low tide further out then then other factors come into play time of day season etc. but its mostly about knowing the area and fishing at any time.
Hi Roger I am generally a catch and release fisherman mostly on fly I however do keep an odd fish if it’s good eating. I also dispatch my fish immediately If I am keeping it. Glad to see you do the same👌👌. All the best from a warm South Africa
It’s very interesting to see you identify sandbars and channels and depths just by looking at the waves. I look at the beach and all I see is water and waves. It’d be interesting to see how you’re identifying the key things to look far when you go beach fishing.
I’ve seen some Sharks while swimming at the beach, so my beach going days are over. I’ve done pier and deep sea fishing, so now I’ll be trying beach fishing. I live near the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. Recently we’ve been plagued with Red Tide, so I’ll be waiting for better days. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed watching.
I do beach fishing at Karachi Pakistan, usually I catch small fish, other issue is that we normally use shrimp or squids as a bait and they don't remain on the hook due to strong current.
Now i know why you are using light sinkers, very small tides. In new Zealand we use the same rig but with a much smaller bait and a single recurve hook. Nice kahawai
As a German i must say your English is really comfortable to unterstand and listen to! Great videos. Gonna try it myself when traveling to the Northern Beaches. Thank you!
Thank you for your wonderful content and instruction period I have never surf fished but finally at age 73 I have time now so I'm going to learn something new and thank you for your input and instruction
Mate I have been catching beach worms and pipis since I was a wee child. My old man was born in Kempsey and we were up there at least 6 weeks a years. Out on the beach catching all sorts of mullet, taylor, bream, and whatever. A lot of good prawns jumped into our nets.
I agree entirely with you on the entertainment ,on Ventura as myself and the wife did a recent cruise on her . I was also disappointed in lack of supplies no brown sauce, marmite fruit and fibre ,and ran out of Guinness. Before long it will end up being a self catering cruise.
