I visited BBO store last Friday and bought my Pop $100 worth of lures for him to use on Little Lagoon. Your fishing consultant, Jeff, was super helpful and shared a lot of his advice and insight with me. I was very impressed by the whole experience and will be back there again soon for some bigger purchases, like new rods and reels. Thanks so much!!
Hint to keep your shrimp alive longer you need to add ammonia remover like the product you use for aquariums.. also you need to add bottles of ice this will slow them down but not kill them.. FYI .. works for me.
Y’all could do an inshore fishing expo or a surf fishing expo, with sale associated with both. You could have an inshore guide come out and so some teaching.
Just a suggestion since you three fish everday. Why not once a week or even once a month . Do a fish fry or boil and do donations for a charity . You could change the charity as often as would like. Would bring in people who don't fish everyday but would buy things other fishing stuff. Had a fishing here that did it and still going strong 25 years later. Started in a 1500 sqare foot store now 50000 sqare foot store. Carrying fishing tackle ,bows and tons of stuff for just about any outdoor activity. Built new store 4 or 5 yrs ago now talking about adding on and doubling footage within the next yr or two.
Really liked this video👍👍 We'll be in town for 2 weeks in april and cant wait to see the store!!! Just a bit of advice from an experience. Dad partnered with another guy n opened a sporting goods store. First summer was great but after hunting season sales were slim till spring fishing seeson then they had another good summer Owner got the idea to increase winter sales he'd sell snow mobiles and ATV s. Against all sound advice he bought into it any way. Less than a year later it bankrupted the entire buisness. Point is be careful not to spend money where it won't benifit sales and not all fun ideas are best for the longevity of the buisness.
Live bait is a must. That’s what we stop for and pick up some tackle while we are there. Otherwise we mostly order gear and artificial baits on line or go to Academy or Bass Pro. We’ve stopped at BBO once so far when our usual local bait shop was out of live bait. We bought live shrimp and some tackle while there. Even as a slight germaphobe OCD woman I kinda laughed at first when the guy at the cash register told me the shrimp was outside because the president doesn’t want live bait in the store. But then I was like for sure it does smell way better in here than most bait shops and that’s important I think since there’s a good selection of apparel in the store. TBH if there’s no live bait, we go somewhere else. We live in Pensacola and fish Gulf Shores about 2 weekends per month almost year round. My husband is a pretty finessed bass fisherman who prefers to use artificial plastics, but when conditions aren’t the greatest, live bait completely out performs the plastic. About 3 weeks ago I caught 6 really nice bass at Lake Shelby in about 2 hours w/ the live shrimp from BBO while my husband very stubbornly fished next to me with his old trusty tried and true senko worms and caught nothing. The bull minnows when available crush multi species at Lake Shelby. TBH we go where the bull minnows are and if none then shrimp. My husband caught an epic bull red at Lake Shelby on bull minnows. We love the variety of species in Lake Shelby. It’s a perfect compromise for us since he prefers bass fishing and I like saltwater. The store was nice. I was looking for a BBO sticker and didn’t see any.
I love it - you can't keep shrimp alive but you're going to try to keep a shark alive in a kiddie pool. In anticipation of the outcome, maybe you can have a 'Shark Burgers with Nikki' promotion.
I came into Beach Bum Outdoors for the first time the Monday after the sale. Found everything that I needed and the friendly dude spooling reels was very nice and helpful. Thanks guys. Now if we could only get this fish biting in this chilly weather. ALWAYS seems to happen when I come down here for vacation
Easy guys, what do the people want who are going to potentially shop or come to your business!!! The live bait thing seems to be the one thing that local folks will come to the store looking for!!! Good Luck, I watch all three of your channels! ✌
Before I retired this type of decision was done after a business plan was completed, reviewed and voted upon by senior management. It's not just a number crunching exercise. How does this capital expenditure fit into the vision of the company?
You need refrigeration and filtration as well as aeration to keep those shrimp alive boys! The cleaner and cooler the water the longer they are gonna live especially when you have a closed system like you guys have here.
I think the shark sculpture like the one you had at the tampa store is a better investment and doesnt cost you 24000 a year (2000 * 12 mnths) . Wiait until you turn a profit for what is essentially window dressing. Also , Im sorry that your store manager doesnt want to maintain the shrimp tank.. but he needs to assign someone that task to do every day. It should be the store manager's responsibility to make sure it gets maintained and to check that the tank is getting cleaned out. Even if he isnt the one cleaning it. Live bait is what keeps people coming to your store, multiple times a week. Do you have a high school student , that comes in to handle invenntory
It’s not my job shouldn’t be in anyone’s vocabulary in a business. Teamwork… no matter how bad the job is. Good job on the video. Starting a new business isn’t easy.
Separate live bait from your store. Lease live bait to someone that knows how to do it. It's a draw to your business, let someone make money off bait and you sell everything else. Example. BASS PRO Doesn't sell sunglasses, Sunglass Hut does.
Suggestion: I know it would be an investment, but a mobile equipment, tackle and bait selling van for seasonal fishing at Hotspots at piers or beaches. Just a thought.
Bad idea on the fish tank. A lot of upkeep and state permits. Invest in your people more than anything else. Need some awesome younger employees to help with the shrimp tanks. Google reviews are everything. Keep up the good work. Would love to visit the store one day.
I wish we were filming when it actually happened. What’s the chances my phone falls out and goes through the small cracks into that crap! I seriously thought it was gone
Good day guys, I heard that u guys are installing a shark tank in ur shop. I not only fish both fresh and salt, I am also in the aquarium industry for some years now as well as a hobbyist for the past 30+ yrs lol. I can help steer u guys in the right direction as well as have a place in mind that builds exactly what ur looking for out of fiberglass. Lmk how I can help u guys out if need be. Btw I enjoy ur fishing channel alot and have been watching ur videos for some time now
Thanks so much for the message! Can you send us an email at hello@beachbumoutdoors.com and we'll have someone from the team get us connected! thanks again!
Love watching your videos,I think you have a great store, but when I go fishing I go to bait and tackle shop that has live bait. If you don't keep live bait you are gonna lose business. Also dump the shark tank idea.its is a losing idea
Guys....listen to this lady! You guys are not kids....wait minute! That shark tank will turn out just like your shrimp tank....brant or bearded Brad will trip one morning and lunch a hole in the side....you guys got flood insurance. Please....listen to the lady! What next a snow cone machine or a hot dog vendor! Come on guys.....
I like the shark idea if the money works. All good promotions work. Have a construction sale. Use the stinky dead shrimp to feed your pond fish if that will work. You’ll do well. I watched it till the end. Nice click bait.
Yall match pay and benefits as Gs 3 US Forster service employee ,and help move the wife and little one. I'll scrub tank toothbrush twice a day needed. It can't be worse than being stuck cleaning public outhouse, trash cans & and campsites and auther shit and dirty go for jobs for the pass 15 year.
Shark tank. Dumb idea for drawing in customers. It becomes ho hum quickly. The kiddies will love it once. Only spend money on items that will guarantee income.
If you don't know anything about retail, you have to hire a staff who does, warm bodies and family members won't cut it. And you're trying to do too much at once. Cut down on the gimmicky themes, stick to the basics, get the money to come in to cover the expenses you spent. Have a couple of events, 12/15 months from now you can try something different. Every hear the rule of thumb...the first 5 years in business you break even, then you start making money as long as you have consumers spending with a shrewd business plan.
Guys the shark tank is nothing more than a cheesy gimmick. You are not Gator Land. Come on guys your products should be enough. You are a great bunch of people.
A lot of passing the buck. The executives and management need to set an example. Training and written established processes are not just necessary but mandatory. If you need an Operations Manager make me an offer. There are two people on your team that won't like it because I would be replacing them.
theres to meny hands in the till whanting to get there money becouse of your names. you need to hire peaple that whant to work and no the game and how to tend the shrip the right way .this is a company not a game get with the prowgram guys oya my spelling sucks.
I love y’all to death, but I had a weird experience when I visited BBO for the first time. We come from MS annually. There was a manager, not sure which one, CURSING LOUDLY on the phone on the sales floor. That was unprofessional and very off putting. Also, everyone needs clearly defined roles in the store and within the business responsibilities. Too many chiefs.
Thank you for this feedback. This is very much not in line with our values and the experience we aim to provide for our guests. And, this is in no way typical of our team. We are blessed with an amazing group who love fishing and people! We apologize and hope that you’ll visit us again and that we’ll have the opportunity to help you Catch the Experience!
You guys have no idea how to run a business. Listen to Nikki. Otherwise you'll lose your asses. It seems like a lot of big ideas, pipe dreams, but no real solutions. WOW. Good luck.
The shark tank is a horrible idea. You don't need unnecessary expenses or you'll have to raise prices on your products and price yourselves out of business.
This channel is such a good idea. It’s cable grade entertainment, and it’s really compelling, I wanna shop there. 😂
I visited BBO store last Friday and bought my Pop $100 worth of lures for him to use on Little Lagoon. I was very impressed by the whole experience and will be back there again soon for some bigger purchases, like new rods and reels. Thanks so much!!
I've been in retail for almost 50 years. Something to remember." If it doesn't positively affect sales it is a wasted effort. "
I think you guys should do anything Nikki (Is it in the budget) tells you to do. I think she should be totally in charge. 😊
Can you hear me now?! Beach Bum Is The Best!!!🐠🦈🐟
I was in the store about a month ago when I camped in Pensacola, set up like an Apple store, very clean. Bought some Slam Shady's and pompeno rigs.
Ditch the tank, Fish/Shrimp Taco stand to bring in the locals/tourist for slow lunch hours.
Everyone loves Tacos!

This is hilarious.
Great video, guys! 0:28 OMG.
I'm with Brandt on the shark tank. Kids love feeding the fish at bait shops that are on the water.
Good luck and keep on keeping on guys!
I love it - you can't keep shrimp alive but you're going to try to keep a shark alive in a kiddie pool. In anticipation of the outcome, maybe you can have a 'Shark Burgers with Nikki' promotion.
Always love seeing y’all be successful in everything! Good job!

Easy guys, what do the people want who are going to potentially shop or come to your business!!! The live bait thing seems to be the one thing that local folks will come to the store looking for!!! Good Luck, I watch all three of your channels! ✌
Good show old Chap 😮😂
Amazing video. Reminds me of a pawn stars episode except it’s about stuff I’m actually interested in lol. Very entertaining, keep it up guys!
Prawn Stars

I can come run the shrimp tanks and catch pinfish or whatever else to sell too. But I don't volunteer to fish Brad's phone out of the shrimp sewer 😂.

Feels like a TV show
This is a good addition to your line of videos, plus free advertisement. Good idea guys
Thanks so much!!! We appreciate the feedback and encouragement!
Before I retired this type of decision was done after a business plan was completed, reviewed and voted upon by senior management. It's not just a number crunching exercise. How does this capital expenditure fit into the vision of the company?
Editor's Note: The lighten needs improvement. Add a LED light setup to the top of whatever camera y'all are shooting your scenes with.
Love the tank idea
Miss seeing everyone. Hope to make it soon. Let's plan something for New Years

Great Series! Maybe a Piranha Tank...
I love it
Ever hear of a business model? Do you have an estimate on volume of gross income? Then establish pricing models. 11:43
Who will feed the fish in the tank?????🤣
this is so cool! best fishing store around! Poor brads phone!!
Thank you so much! We appreciate you supporting the shop!
I am interested in taking over the bait situation.i have some experience and love that work
Hope you guys figure things out. Been trying to open something in niceville.
Nikki is the best.
funny stuff
FREE SHIPPING - FREE SHIPPING - FREE SHIPPING - FREE SHIPPING
Since nobody wants the live bait job. Whats it pay, i could be persuaded. Haha
You guys will be successful. No doubt.
you have to get the dead shrimp every 3 hours
Bad idea on the fish tank. A lot of upkeep and state permits. Invest in your people more than anything else. Need some awesome younger employees to help with the shrimp tanks. Google reviews are everything. Keep up the good work. Would love to visit the store one day.
Cool video y'all!
I don't care if it was staged or not, Brad's phone situation is funny stuff.
It was real! We were laughing when it happened, because you can't make stuff up that's THAT good! LOL! Thanks so much!
I wish we were filming when it actually happened. What’s the chances my phone falls out and goes through the small cracks into that crap! I seriously thought it was gone
The Shrimp!!!!! An ongoing Saga!
you are blessed. P. U.S.H....pray until something happens🙏🙏🙏.

I was there in Oct and you all were not there and you were out of XL shirts! I got a hat instead.
Thanks for your business and support and for visiting the shop!
A suggestion, can you put strainers in the shrimp tanks?
the bate store i worked at you had to take the dead shrimp out every 2 hours

I'll be there this weekend. Hope you didn't sell everything during your pre-black Friday sale. May e I'll see some of you there.
Looking forward to it!
Pretty cool intro guys! How is the running of the store going to affect your individual content now?
Love watching your videos,I think you have a great store, but when I go fishing I go to bait and tackle shop that has live bait. If you don't keep live bait you are gonna lose business. Also dump the shark tank idea.its is a losing idea
You guys need to go fishing! Like now
if this is THE TEAM BBO.......then its time ....maybe

Don't spend it until it's comfortable financially.
Aloha. How is it every other tackle store can sell live shrimp, these guys can’t, but a shark tank?
Yall match pay and benefits as Gs 3 US Forster service employee ,and help move the wife and little one. I'll scrub tank toothbrush twice a day needed. It can't be worse than being stuck cleaning public outhouse, trash cans & and campsites and auther shit and dirty go for jobs for the pass 15 year.
This place is going to make a nest little bowling alley. You guys spend money like you are all millionaires.
Dang I hope so…
Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I'm now on a first-name basis with nearly everyone in your store?
Shark tank. Dumb idea for drawing in customers. It becomes ho hum quickly. The kiddies will love it once. Only spend money on items that will guarantee income.

I hate to be a nay-sayer but, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, you aren’t. You can’t even keep a few shrimp alive! I love you guys & love the store, but…….
