Thanks so much for posting this. I used to watch this with my family every night during dinner when I was a kid. We loved trying to figure out the puzzles, and we always rooted for the underdog when the show was running out of time.
It’s nice to have a former contestant on the old Cross-Wits post their time on the show. Sol, if I checked on the values on the prizes you won, including the automobile, it’s about over $6,000. Congratulations on your win. How was it meeting JoAnne, Jamie, Pat, and Karen?
The value of the Chevette was $3500. That's the amount of credit I would have received to upgrade my car at the Chevy dealership. Lots of joking by the celebs on and off camera. As you can see, they were having fun
Jack Clark was extremely an exciting host saying "That's correct!" when Sol Ortaz solved the Trucker puzzle with Citizens Band Radios.I was surprised he got the car on one clue.
I remember this show. I used to watch it sometimes. Back when Judge Judy and Jerry Springer hadn't penetrated the TV schedule and game shows were both a part of daytime and nighttime TV...
This, I believe, is the first season 2 episode of the original Cross-Wits posted on the Tube. It still had the original synth version of the theme, and it was also the first year with the car bonus (which was won by Sol on this particular show).
How did you find that info? Was trying to track it down. According to IMDB the single times that Joanne Worley and Jamie Farr were on the show are 2 different dates, September and October 1977. Pat Harrington & Karen Morrow were not even listed although I submitted their names. But didn't have the correct air dates.
This is by all means a Season 2 Episode. Season 1 did not have a credit role at beginning, only sometimes at the end. Season 2 used the Tom Kennedy Name That Tune buzzer when time was up. In Season 1, the times up sound was the Dealer's Choice buzzer.
This is the WILDEST episode of The Cross-Wits I have ever seen! I mean you get Klinger from M*A*S*H, Schneider from One Day at a Time, the queen of chicken jokes (and great game player), and Aunt Minerva from the short-lived "Tabitha" and it's a recipe for total insanity! And Sol it all got topped off by you taking the show for a Chevy Chevette...Cross Fire round be darned! As a game show FREAK, I love to see these rare episodes of shows seemingly lost to eternity thanks to the greed of people who work for Fox Television Stations, inc.
Yes, the cast had a great time. You'll notice that Pat Harrington kept asking "Where's the band?" when it was obviously a recording. After I won the car, Farr and Worley pulled me off that stage not realizing I was hooked to a mike that had to be disconnected. And if you watch to the end credits, they took their liberties with me! Rolling up my pant leg, etc. Fun times!!!
I wish so badly that Buzzr could get the rights to this show, it's so much fun. I know it's not likely given that Fremantle doesn't own it and it might have been destroyed, but it deserves to be on the air again in some way.

So, Sol.... how'd you like your week in Las Vegas? Also, how did the Israeli ceramics work out, ultimately? Please tell us all you can about the experience.
First of all, the little known fact about trips given away is that unless they say differently, it was a trip for 1. Yes only 1 including flight, hotel, food, etc. My girlfriend did join me and she drove (her choice) while I flew via Continental. The room at the Union Plaza Hotel in downtown LV wasn't an issue and they covered the food tab without question. We even had another friend come stay with us for part for a day or 2. One full week in Vegas was a bit much, which is why my GF drove,. We took a few days in the middle of the week to go up to Bryce & Zion canyons. As for the Israeli ceramics, we tried getting gift shop buyers interested but we were competing with much cheaper product from other countries and couldn't make a go of it. We had imported a sample shipment and sold some items. Might still have some vases and other pieces in my storage!
@@solomonortasse5711Was it crowded out there? You're an outstanding player on Cross Wits. How were you able to guess Citizens Band Radios off that Trucker clue? Congrats on winning the game ,all those prizes and the car.
