What a bizarre show which, aside from the occasional rolling of the dice, seemingly had very little to do with the actual board game. Given that this was a pilot, who wants to take a bet that the bonus game was "rigged" - in that the $100,000 was likely under all the letters (or the contestants were told which one to choose) and that the fact a yahtzee was obtained on their "second roll" almost seems like the editing was a bit terse - making me think that the "second roll" was reshot multiple times until they achieved the desired result.
The show aired for only 10 weeks of new episodes and a few weeks of reruns before it was canceled in May 1988, which was about two weeks after the lawsuit was filed regarding the indictment of the producers who were arrested back on February 2.

They changed it for the series, the dollar amounts were $5,000, $10,000 & $25,000. To win the $100,000 you had to get a yahtzee in one roll. Later they tweaked it further so that a first roll yahtzee doubled the money unless you got 5 wilds on the first roll, then it became $100,000. Watching Peter Marshall is cringeful. He referred to his dice lady with pet names like “lovely” and complimented the Puerto Rican contestant’s English. He also asked him how long has he been in the country. It’s lost on Marshall that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, just like what Alaska and Hawaii were before they became states.
Reading your comment is “cringeful” (not a word, btw). Peter didn’t ask him how long he’d been in the country. Fewer than 10% of Puerto Ricans speak English today, let alone 35 years ago, and it’s obviously not his first language. Why don’t you stop and think before going full Karen?

A little bit of Hollywood Squares when he says, "Hello, stars!"
R.I.P. Peter Marshall.
This is actually really good. Love the presentation and Peter Marshall does a good job. Would of loved to see the series last a little longer.
It would have if the production company behind Yahtzee didn't go belly up.

Great Shakes It's Yahtzee!!!!!!!
This game show had apparently been a "roll of the dice " for the people who had conceived this show's format!

Yes, I thought the same thing.
Chick Woolery’s Scrsbble was different from the board game too if you remember correctly.
Agreed on the $100K placement.
I would have *LOVED* to see Teresa Ganzel *host* a game show!!
Greedy Gretchen Scrabble !
Me too
@3:41, LaRue was on the final episode of NYSI in 1989

How about the last post meant no pun intended this not either it was a literal Gamble
Surprising that they did not stay at Trump’s Castle them and Trump would have been a perfect match
LaRue was on multiple game show pilots
You Won $100,000!!!!!
Didn't know Teresa Ganzel was a cohost on a game show.
She was for the pilot. If you look at other episodes on YT the cohost tends to change
forever "Greedy Gretchen" on Three's Company.
Match game and Hollywood squares in Yahtzee all together
And elements of Family Feud. YAHTZEE is definitely is a funny show with the right questions and casting. Shame it didn't last longer.
Looks like it was taped at perhaps NBC Burbank . Dunno why the move to Atlantic City for the series
Probably a combination of budget and publicity for the Atlantic City casinos that they were taped at.
@@Tubewings And Peter Marshall was working on Broadway at the time
It was taped at Tump Castle now the Golden Nugget, also the same place Tump Card was taped at. Only 3 game shows where taped in Atlantic City
I'm not gonna lie-- I would've thought that was Ed MacKay in the announcer's booth...
Bob ridgley will always be the Monroe shock absorber guy
To me he will be known as the voice of ABC comedy promos in the 80s and 90s.
Tried finding his commercials on UA-cam but they have yet to make it there.
For me, he was Mr. Nobody in the 1982 TV special "Puff the Magic Dragon and the Incredible Mr. Nobody".

Larry Hovis? Yep. That’s him alright.
