It all depends on the density of the traffic. It can be 90 minutes in rush hour, otherwise close to 60 minutes. Furthermore in the near future (next month?) it will be possible to take the metro from the airport to Piraeus without changing line at Monastiraki.
Leaving out of pereus in October on a cruise. Looking very forward to it. Side note... I cannot stand when graffiti is allowed to remain in/on public spaces. It's proof that the local government has given up/ Don't care and that the turds have won. It certainly won't ruin my present to Athens but I had to get that off my chest.

My dream was Athens. The flats are expensive, streets are dirty, busses are old, everywhere cats pigeons and garbage on the streets. To open account is 2 months( in the bank nobody helps for foreigners) you can buy telephone card without contract- sooo sooo expensive, however there is sea the fish etc is so expensive. Hospitals… so old not so good
I would rather be an hour early than a minute late. I would try to get there at least 30 minutes early to figure out where everything is and to buy the tickets.

I have never taken it. If the schedule says 60 minutes it should be pretty accurate.

Could you tell me please were is the best tourist area, bars etc, to base yourself with easy access to Piraeus.
I would stay in Athens for the bars and then take the metro when you need to get to the port in Piraeus.

Piraeus metro to the dock is like 5 minutes. To the center of the city is maybe 15 minutes.

Greece is cheaper than most places in Europe. So what country did you find that you liked better? Try Spain. It is cheap, good weather etc.

Funny you mention that. When I was in St. Petersburg Russia taking a hydrofoil to Peterhoff Palace I thought it reminded me of the boats in Piraeus.
They will disappear in a few weeks. 3 brand new catamaran highspeed ferries will arrive in Piraeus on August 1st.
