I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!

I don't have merch in the traditional sense (I can't imagine selling something with my face or name on haha!), but I do have a stationery company where I sell planners for students. I've been deliberating for a few minutes whether or not to comment this, but I just wanted to say that it was so refreshing and validating to hear someone so openly and casually mention having a therapy appointment. I have been having sessions for a number of years and always feel a bit nervous to mention it. You have given me such a confidence boost. Thank you for being your wonderful, transparent self.
It’s so important to overcome that cultural stigma of therapy! It’s okay for us to struggle and not be okay and we should normalise reaching out when we need to 🤍
100% agree. i feel almost ashamed of it at times. Like im less of a man for needing it.
@@declancampbell1277 I was so nervous when I went to my first therapy session, hoping that no one would notice. Turns out therapy was really great for me and I spoke quite openly about it in my friend group, thus influencing a friend of mine to start going to therapy as well. I was so proud of him when he told me, I think most people would be better off seeing a therapist and you're definitely not "weak" and should not be ashamed :)
Therapy appointments should be as accepted as making a doctor's appointment if you're ill, the same applies to the mind 😊
Having therapy while at Uni and studying is a great idea

I just suffered with a major illness and was completely bedridden this entire week. I have been so stressed thinking about all the work i have to catch up on but beautiful Ruby has uploaded. C.S. Lewis was a master of allegorical imagery, and I’m so glad you’re reading his works. There is a large collection of his essays available as a PDF file online titled God in the Dock-I highly recommend it. The talks he did on BBC radio during WWII must have surely bolstered those listening during those arduous days; those scripts eventually becoming the basis for Mere Christianity, one of the best Christian apologetics books ever written. I am very happy that you’re adjusting so well to your new and beautiful surroundings. Cheers!

Your story is so inspiring to me... I've been following your content for 6 or more years now, I remember you studying so hard in school, I rember the rejection from Oxford, the poem you read through tears and how proud of you and impressed it made me feel, you being devastated by your first mark in uni and the courage of being vulnerable online, you changing degrees in Exeter, the gap year. Now I can see how all these experiences probably shaped you into a person that can now fully thrive in Oxford. Because it will be more than just productive. I really wish you have amazing time studying there, meet new people, get inspired, be happy.🎉
Meanwhile I got my master degree in natural sciences, got into PhD programm and dropped out after a year, dropped out of NGO I had spent 6 years working in... And now I am depressed and looking for a job in completely different industry and getting rejected again and again. Maybe it is just redirection that will pay off eventually, I really hope so

I’m currently in year 11 and today I got called into a meeting from my maths teacher, he offered me a school trip to go and look around Oxford university and do a workshop about the application process and things because I am in the top 4 students in year 11 and they believe that I could potentially go on to apply to a place like that!! I am so unbelievably excited and you are such an inspiration to me!

I’m still astonished by the prep ahead of time. When I did my master’s we had such an unbelievably different set up. I was working full time for the two years leading up to it to be able to afford to go. The reading list was four books! That was all we had to do.
I realise that vlogging is one of Ruby’s jobs but she is fitting in a lot of actual study around talking to us.
@@dees3179Yes, it's not easy. People need to realize that succees as this super-competitive level calls for much sacrifice and dedication, not to mention laser-precision time management skills⏳️
@@bethmcmullan7686 not even going to dignify that statement. Sure, Oxford churns out a lot of Tory knuckleheads in the halls of power particularly policy-wise (Sunak Truss, Boris Johnson etc), but that doesn't mean Oxford is devoid of very high educational standards. Just take a look @ calibre of books Ruby is reading before classes officially start. That should tell you all there needs to know

Other people have said this but it’s cool to see how well-suited your habits and passions are with your new environment. It’s harmonious. Also, I’ve long admired your self-directedness with additional reading and studying. It’s something I’m working on instilling in myself as I prepare to go on to graduate coursework.

As a homeschooling family in the US, our kids each learned a different foreign language in high school after learning some German in elementary and middle school and studying Latin and Greek root words with flashcards for several years. My eldest learned Latin in high school, my second learned German, my third learned Russian in a community college course, and my fourth learned American Sign Language online via ASL University. I am currently reviewing and furthering my studies in German via DuoLingo, and I've made a start in learning Latin via DuoLingo, too.
I am soooo enjoying seeing all of the libraries and Blackwell's!! And I loooove the Sherlocked poster!! Thanks so much for sharing your week with us!!

Exciting to see someone learning my native language German, but the course on DuoLingo is a bit off, the grammar side of it isn’t quite right. I’ve done , just to see if people really can learn past basic stuff there.

As I am quite a new viewer, I have no idea if you already have something similar to this, but I would just love to hear you talking more about things that interest you! Whenever you bring up an essay that you’re reading and briefly talk about it, I find it incredibly interesting! I love hearing curious minds talk about interests them. This could be a nice little podcast format, wouldn’t have to be big or overwhelming!

I wish I was you, I'm not gonna lie.
Not particulary because now you're at Oxford but just... being able to study. I can't for several big reasons (can't focus long, I'm neurodivergent, etc.) and unfortunately school has ruined my joy for studying completely which makes me very sad. I wish I had this passion and keep notes and research so neatly, be as smart...

I just want to say thank you for taking us through those gorgeous buildings. The architecture is just sublime. I will never get to see Oxford in my lifetime, but through your video I got to see that and more. I liked the last library you went to the Taylorean Library (hopefully I got that right) that is my most favourite. I would totally study there all the time. Awesome video. Watching the other students studying at the same time was so satisfying. I loved seeing the art and sculptures around you. Thank you so much.
This video made me sentimental - oh, to be a new student again! I had the pleasure of conducting research in Oxford during my Uni days, mostly in what was then called the Sackler Library.
