Thank you so much for bringing awareness on Thiamine B-1 It is absolutely very critical for a Gastric Bypass patient. It depletes very fast If you ever start having complications of vomiting. Iam now on hospice because I have cardiac Beriberi, & permanent brain damage that was caused all because my Thiamine had depleted & I was never aware of it.. Sir could you please do a video on Gastric Bypass & Thiamine? Because It Is very very fatal & serious If you have a BARIATRIC GASTRIC BYPASS surgery and like myself Pryor to having my Gastric bypass I didn't even no what Thiamine was! No education on no vitamins Pryor to my Gastric bypass that can cause you to have serious permanent damage. In my case it was so bad I landed on hospice.. Doctor you ever in your life heard of someone on hospice because Korsakoff brain disease non alcoholic & cardiac Beriberi?? Would love to hear from you please sir.
Look up Elliot Overton he has taken this much deeper and may give people comfort knowing their symptoms are listed. Like SIBO, IBS, eye problems, Fibromyalgia, MCAS, Histamine Intolerance, etc. There is a way to get right but you will have to work at it with High Dosing and you can not forget that you will need Magnesium and Potassium, and a B-Complex when doing this.
I was showing all the signs of B1 deficiency after starting methotrexate for Rheumatoid arthritis. My Rheumatologist ignored all my concerns (peripheral neuropathy was debilitating) and kept saying all I need is higher dose of methotrexate for aches and pains. I heard that folic acid deficiency impacts absorption of B1 and methotrexate blocks folic acid. Though I was supplementing with folate my symptoms got worse every time I took methotrexate. More over due to wheat allergy I was eating white rice in every meal. No wonder I was deficient. At one point I felt I can’t move my legs to walk and I told my family that it feels like I am about to get paralyzed. I started taking be benfothiamine with other form of B1. Thank you Dr.Jin for making this video! It is really incredible to see the many different signs of defficiency of this vitamin, that are nomally being treated with other medication when it could have been solved with B1 vitamin for a period of time! I was prescribed Thiamin during a full year to help me through a treatment but I now make use of food and natural means like the nutritional yeast that can easily be added to soups, salads, purees, stews... you name it! and I am taking magnesium since I have a tendency for low Mg. Have had chronic fatigue, brain fog, memory loss - all worsening over the years. Have taken benfotiamine this last week and already feeling a bit clearer! I see it's needed for acetylcholine production and I've had low acetylcholine symptoms for forever now. Not remembering faces, names, hard time learning basic things, no dreams. Have supplemented various choline forms (I'm vegan) with no help, in fact it causes bad joint pain in my hands. Now I'm wondering if the b1 will make supplementing with that too more productive/no joint pain! I've also tried supplementing different niacin forms with nasty reactions, namely bad anxiety/almost shock symptoms. I wonder if B1 will affect that (methyl donors didn't). Long story short being exhausted is exhausting.

Thanks Dr Sung for your informative video. What's your opinion for taking vitamin B complex leaving 💊 over night in kefir until diluting for better utilization.
Dr. Sung, are you familiar with "Forbidden Rice"? This is sort of an inversion of your Japanese rice story. In China, the peasants & the working class ate the white rice. The dark purple-black grains of the "Forbidden Rice" or "longevity rice," as it was also called, was reserved for the emperors only. It has a rich, nutty flavor, a very chewy texture & is super loaded with nutrients -- anthocyanins, protein, fiber, high in magnesium, manganese, molybdenum,& phosphorus! It's very tasty but, of course, it is also quite expensive, lol!
I have gut issues and because of that, I have insomnia. I can't have fermented foods, cruciferous vegetables, whole grains. It is crazy. Also, I have reactive hypoglycemia. Can it all be from a lack of B1? I took antibiotics rifaximin in Feb since then I have insomnia. Is ok to take 50 mg of thiamine Hcl? Or is it too much? Thank you! Please I need some advice.
Like Dr. Sung said take some magnesium with the B1. Start with Nutritional Yeast Flakes. Take the dose on the package and maybe extra when you first start. Also take 100 mg or 200 mg of Benfotiamine.... like Dr. Sung says split it up and take it every 12 hours.
It can make a huge improvement or even stop it all together. I would try the benfotomine. Start with 300mg and see how youbfeel, and if needed, then bump it up to 600mg. It's water soluble so it very hard to take to much. Good luck.
Could be low blood sugar hypoglycemia I have the same problem. When my blood sugar is over 110 then the fan and ac doesn't bother me. Under 80 I'm very cold in front of a fan
Anything but magnesium oxide which is poorly absorbed. Magnesium Citrate and Magnesium Malate are two very good choices as they are both well absorbed.
What is considered a high carb diet? I cannot do low carb because I cannot sleep (cortisol). I also am a non-secretor of blood type (Lewis gene) which means that I can't eat anything with phytic acid, (beans, whole grains, etc) or else I get cavities (the phosphorus in the phytate is not digested and then it pulls all the other critical minerals out of the body). Asparagus is amazing btw for B1. I do eat a lot of good brands of Italian pasta.
I forgot to mention that B vitamins are synergetic and the use of magnesium will enhance the utilization of thiamine.
Magnesium deficiency is huge in my patient populations.
Which form of magnesium do you suggest for optimal brain results?
