I know you are really good at these things. But when I saw this poor guy, I would not have guessed you could get him such a fantastic shape again. Congratulations!
Read about this chap in the annual and realised I had not watched the actual video...how satisfying, to see him come back from the red (boom boom) and live again, with dignity. Great stuff!
Wow that was brilliant. I bet he has been laying at the bottom of an old box for years thinking will I ever get back to how I was and thanks to you he has. Absolutely fantastic well done 👍
Brilliant! It's so cool that you saved him - think of all those adventures he had with his previous owner(s) that would have gone to the tip with him otherwise, and been lost; we may not know what they were, but they still live on in some fashion in his little plastic form, and may be re-lived at some point again in the future. Utterly fantastic job, sir! Be safe. :)
Really interesting and helpful video. Just a tip that I have used for Action Man in the same sort of state - T-cut removes the staining although as you mentioned it sort of gives the plastic a more flesh like color but that is no bad thing.
You really are a miracle worker! And with a ton of patience, I might add. lol! Great job on this one! My older brother had the bearded GI Joe with an outfit just like that orange one but it was light green. I can still picture it, all these 40+ years later!
Been watching your videos for about a year now. Always a highlight. I have just won my first flock haired, eagle eye restoration on eBay so will be referring to your past videos again when I start my first project. I think my first action man was a tank commander, so I might try to put together that outfit. Thanks for the videos
Once again you have rocked the GI Joe/Action Man foundation all the way over here in Georgia ( USA ) with your amazing talent. Wow, Wow, Wow. You are absolutely the best at bringing childhood memories back to life. Thank you.
Imagine if this was in Toy Story, a Combat Carl figure was in a deep, depressing broken hibernation, then a cleaner restores him to his former handsome self... after thinking he'd never look normal again.
Amazing job! Watching your videos I was able to restore my brother's collector King Kong. It has very weak pegs on the arms so they broke. He tried to super glue them several times but they were just too heavy and kept falling apart, so I saw you Rancor and Wampa restoration and helped me so much to finally put both arms back into a wonderful piece that is back on display, otherwise it will be somewhere in a box.
Well done on that nice to see VAM save . I use an old toothbrush it cleans up lot quicker and dont mark the vam body . Zit cream to clean the vam head put the zit cream on and leave it facing the sun for a day two then wipe it clean.
This was an amazing restoration! I'm as always very impressed by the creativity you bring to fixing these restoration projects, like using the grass to replace the beard, that's brilliant! Have you ever been contacted by the previous owners of any of these toys, people that just happened to be watching and see their old toys?
Yes! At 13:50 you ask if this is worth it - and it IS! Not because it gets a figure which is collector-grade or A-grade or anything, but because the process is fun. I've watched a lot of your channel (kind of addicted to it; send help) and I think that is what shines through - the restoration of these toys is the fun part, that is the "hobby". It is like my hobby of miniature building - yes, it is quicker and easier to buy a new kit and assemble it from scratch and then you have it for the shelf or gaming table . . . but if you want "bang for your hobby buck" then a $10 eBay rescue and three days of paint stripping and sanding and rebuilding things with styrene and casting replacement components is much better value. People's mileage my vary, but I for one love the building and painting and so forth part of the hobby, so any kit which is complicated or needs work or whatever is a win in my book.
I was brushing some Vallejo surface primer on an old Aurora Planet of the Apes Cornelius model kit, and decided to put this on in the background as I worked. I quite enjoyed that this was a longer video, Dave. I really appreciate watching you restore toys, so it was nice to get a little longer running time with your update! As always, you astound! You really brought that figure back from the dead. Seeing it cold on a shelf, I doubt that I would have noticed that it was even a restored figure at all! Great work, man!
@@toypolloi Great to hear! To think you gave breath to this toy & extended its life. When someone probably would have deemed it trash because of its condition. Just another reason why I love your content. The real toy hero we need!
WOW that is some real awesome transformation, didn't think it was possible to get it back to its normal color. The master strikes again fantastic work as always.
Dave you've done it again I seriously thought there is no way he can be restored.but with a hell of a lot of patience and perseverance he looks brilliant well done.at the end it looked like pin head and chewie welcome back mate good to see you looking great.you are a genius.quick question would you go through it all again???
The tool used to submerge Action Man's head in the brake fluid reminds me of the sort of dastardly super villain type of plot I would have come up with as a kid. haha
The red in his beard is the blood of his enemies ! Honestly I would have left the damaged beard as it is, it would have given him character and something of a history. But even so, it's an amazing restoration as always.
Amazing salvage job! I love watching these restoration videos of yours. Of course, with the clothing you put on him, you could've just removed the paint on the face and been done with it. 😁
Nice job. For flocking the hair you might know but in model making you can make or buy an electric flock applicator to make them stand on end perfectly. Another paint remover that may be useful in the future: Biostrip, it doesn't harm your hands which is nice.
Would the brake fluid work better in an ultrasonic cleaner? I guess running the brake fluid through a coffee filter would remove the paint chips from it and make it reusable. Excellent restoration.
I'm not a fan of magic erasers. They do damage the surface of the plastic. And these stains will be more than just on the surface. With time they should reduce.
Your videos have made me start collecting bad shape toys for repair rather than good shape toys for display lol. Love watching you do these!
Sometimes i wonder if the Person who messed up the Figure in the Past is watching this... would be funny somehow.
Great Video btw, thanks!
Probably is the same that sold it to him.
I like the tan. It’s like he’s been adventuring in the sun all day and developed a farmers tan. Impressive restoration as always!
Farmer's tan is a good way to put it, especially since the replacement hands have the slightly redder-than-original tone to them, as well.
Well done!
Looks like Sid(?) from Toy Story had this guy at one time.😉
I know you are really good at these things. But when I saw this poor guy, I would not have guessed you could get him such a fantastic shape again. Congratulations!
Read about this chap in the annual and realised I had not watched the actual video...how satisfying, to see him come back from the red (boom boom) and live again, with dignity. Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it
This was probably the most dramatic restoration I have seen you do. That was amazing!
Thanks. This one was certainly a well loved toy!
Fantastic job. good to see another actionman being saved 👍
This is battle damage action man, the real possible effects of being a soldier. Of course having a field medic like you makes all the difference.
That was an awesome save, he looks practically brand new! thanks for sharing, very informative
Wow that was brilliant. I bet he has been laying at the bottom of an old box for years thinking will I ever get back to how I was and thanks to you he has. Absolutely fantastic well done 👍
Wow!! I didn't think he could be saved, let alone come up so good. I've said it before but you are the master Dave. The best on UA-cam by far!!!
He looks great! Way to see it through to the end.
Amazing work man, great to see the love for Action Man
At times in the video this was almost like watching actual surgery (all the "blood"). Bravo on saving another one from the landfill
The final result nearly brought a tear to my eye 👍
You truly are a miracle worker!

Always a little happy moment when a new toy polloi vid appears. Really love these longer restoration episodes. Great as usual

I've recently taken up restoring some toys I had from the 80's. Watching your videos has given me inspiration. Thank you.
You did an amazing job. Thank you.
That is brilliant! Well done, very impressive. You must have real patience to do that
Thank you very much!
@@toypolloi No probs, what is the elastic you use?

I think that best restaration you ever done .you done some great ones but this one was amazing
Once again you have rocked the GI Joe/Action Man foundation all the way over here in Georgia ( USA ) with your amazing talent. Wow, Wow, Wow. You are absolutely the best at bringing childhood memories back to life. Thank you.
I always enjoy these little journeys from 'broken junk' to 'as good as new'... absolutely amazing!!! ;)'
I just noticed the thumbnail for this - it's superb, and funny.
Imagine if this was in Toy Story, a Combat Carl figure was in a deep, depressing broken hibernation, then a cleaner restores him to his former handsome self... after thinking he'd never look normal again.

Amazing work once again. You should make him your honorary Toy Polloi Wounded Warrior mascot survivor.
That was fantastic! I can't believe he came so clean. Great job!
Great work! your very patient. Fantastic job!
Excellent restoration.
Totally awesome, many said it could not be done but here he stands back in a collection where he belongs, pleased we could help a little :)
That is just a night and day difference. Spectacular work.
Your patience should be commended Dave! what a brilliant video, love the long videos this looked like a difficult but rewarding process well done 🙏

Loston Wallace Vallejo paint is heresy ALL HAIL CITADEL
This Is still one of my favorite videos. Cheers Man!
Mine too. It was a challenge, but it worked. I still love this figure and have it on display.

Amazing work. Thanks so much for this.
u know the saying, time heals all wounds...awesome job
Amazing. I didn't expect it to turn out so well. You are brilliant,
Neither did I! It was the worst toy I have ever tried to fix. Thanks
Stunning work !!!!
Thanks
Beautiful work, David!
This stuff inspired me to do thorough clean-up jobs on a couple of my old He-Man vehicles. Replace the stickers and all that.
WOW that is some real awesome transformation, didn't think it was possible to get it back to its normal color. The master strikes again fantastic work as always.
Thanks. He was quite a project.
Amazing job removing that paint. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for the great content!
WOW..WHATTA MESS..LOTTA WORK.TURNED OUT WELL..GOOD JOB! GREAT INFO!❤
Amazing work!
Brilliant job Dave!
Outstanding! Thanks for saving this Action Man!
Fantastic, excellent
Fantastic job Dave, very impressed.
Just one upped yourself, brilliant restoration work.
Amazing job! Inspiring!
Impressive idea with reflocking! I'll do the same for my Action Man when I find the right color.
Love your video’s, man! Thank you so much for sharing your brilliance 👍
incredible. you're a magician.

FANTASTIC WORK!
This was just the tutorial I needed to work out how to clean up a Vintage MotU Beastman that has been painted bronze. Excellent restoration work.
That's great. Let me know how he turns out.
Looks like jack nance....great job by the way...amazing work
Great job!
Great job, Dave! I really didn't think you were going to get him presentable, let alone as good as you did get him!
Great stuff mate, i bet he feels epic now ;)
the other two action mans looks very surprised with the result!, great job indeed... i will try it some day
This is fascinating. Why have I only just discovered this?
WOW, That was some project, from walking dead to back in action, excellent job buddy! This was worth the wait:)
Have you ever considered setting up an apparatus to agitate the break fluid?
This is my favorite repair you’ve done, from me going “no, no, no” to Oooh...he did it 😮
Great video ✌🏽👍🏽
The tool used to submerge Action Man's head in the brake fluid reminds me of the sort of dastardly super villain type of plot I would have come up with as a kid. haha

Oustanding repair and restoration work. Wow
Many thanks!
Great Save! enjoy the vids! Keep it up buddy
Truly spectacular
Dave that was Awesome!

That is true, but would have made for a dull video ;)
Excellent work!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you very much!
Just one upped yourself. Brilliant restoration.
Fantastic video. Excellent work.
Thank you very much!
Magnificent work
Looks like the kid tried to make him the skinned bodies in Predator.
HE VWAS SKINT ALIFE!!!!
This is toy necromancy!!!! Rising the body of a dead action figure so it can be displayed again Hahahahah... Truly excellent job!!!!
I don't remember Action Man appearing in Hellraiser? What a job, heard you mentioning this one and wanted to see.
Well done! Have you ever poured the used break fluid through a coffee filter to get rid of some of the paint?
I’ve not tried that. Might give it a go and see if it looks any better. Cheers
I love the red hue, seems kinda fitting for a sea-worn face that's seen plenty of Rum
It does give him a certain charm. And I like the Wabi Sabi side of toy collecting. He is one of my favorite figures now.
sheeez I thought for sure the flock was a goner these toys kick ass man
I gave this video a thumbs up just for the thumbnail of the chalk outline of a Dead action figure
Damn the NHS really helped this action man out
GREAT JOB....GREETINGS FROM MEXICO............
Nice job. For flocking the hair you might know but in model making you can make or buy an electric flock applicator to make them stand on end perfectly. Another paint remover that may be useful in the future: Biostrip, it doesn't harm your hands which is nice.
Dear Mr Polloi,
I love your videos and would highly recommend using 'magic sponges' to remove stubborn stains / paint etc from toys.
Thanks for the tip!
Would the brake fluid work better in an ultrasonic cleaner? I guess running the brake fluid through a coffee filter would remove the paint chips from it and make it reusable. Excellent restoration.
Would a magic eraser be too abrasive for the toy? Seems like a good idea to lightly rub with one to take the stains out
I'm not a fan of magic erasers. They do damage the surface of the plastic. And these stains will be more than just on the surface. With time they should reduce.
I wonder if brake fluid in the sonic cleaner would work
Another great job! Have you ever used mineral spirits, turpentine, to remove paints? It works pretty well.
I don't use those as you never know how the plastic will react to them. You could end up causing more damage.
Great job
