👏 I could have done with this video in the 70s: still clearly remember my over-excited and sugar-loaded friends breaking various bits on my just-opened repair station at my birthday party. Not that I still hold a grudge 44 years and 8 months later of course…!
the blue "booster/scanner" above steves head also included a small magnifieing lens you can see where it clips in , you can get and find replacements easy enough
I can't stop watching your vids. I swear I'd marry you this moment just based on your ability to restore these classic toys. Your vids make me want to dig out all my boxed up classic toys and display them proudly.
I remember getting this for Christmas in the mid 1970's in the sands of time I lost track of of Steve and his repair station ,but in the early 2000's Ive regained Steve the repair station and much more in the bionic universe
This playset has a lot of charm. I am not very familiar with these toys but it's the kind of thing I would have liked as a child. It really encourages imaginative play. Maybe in a future video you can create a custom version with one of your spares. More stickers, maybe some NASA stickers for the rocket, or maybe a bionic woman version although it is shaped to Steve Austin.
Great repair of a brilliant toy, Dave. I would be seriously tempted to stick the computer dials on some thin styrene or perspex sheet, before cutting them out, which would make them more rigid, and less prone to being rounded off by use.
Such a fantastic video! The Six Million Dollar Man toys were some of the first ones I ever remember owning as a kid and I loved this repair station to death (even as the parts slowly vanished one by one). Thank you!
A wonderfully executed repair to a Repair Station. I had a busted up one as a kid, it made for a quality Shield Generator during our Star Wars battles...loved the restoration
Wow that was a great restoration. I got one of these for Christmas back in '75 or '76 and l loved it. Wished I had kept it. You're such a wizard making the stickers in Photoshop. Really enjoy your channel! Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Awesome job!
Hey Dave That was the fasted 43 minutes of my life🙂 What a fun looking toy, which looks great after you did all of the work to it. You are the whiz of Photoshop! Happy weekend to the 2 of You.
I remember getting this for Xmas 1977 as I was a huge Bionic Man fan and Star Wars had only just been released so I didn’t see it until early 78. I stupidly left the rocket by the side of the fire at my Auntie’s on Boxing Day and the bottom of the rocket warped slightly due to the heat so the base never fit properly again 🤦♂️😂 Liking the Blake’s 7 style intro btw 👍🏻
Hi Dave love the channel!!! Please keep up the great work you do. Love this toy have one mint in box. Some many happy memories with Steve and the btrs. My favorite toy when I was a kid. Love the tv show and hope to see more repairs to these toys. Thank you so much.
Great video as usual Dave and great tips on making the connectors. I remember wanting one of these as a child and recently was fortunate enough to get hold of one which I have restored. There are actually 2 versions of the suggested sticker placements as the Kenner version of the instruction sheet is slightly different from The Denys Fisher version that was available in the UK. There is also a small plastic magnifier that fits in the middle of the rocket engine/Light array which lets you inspect those bionic modules in more detail. There are plenty of great options for replacing the magnifier lens. For it's time this was a really awesome play set and perhaps one of the templates for future Kenner play sets. I can't recall anything quite like it back then.
I think you may have used my scan of the stickers from Flickr, judging from the dirt and scuffs. If so, I'm glad you found them and were able to use them as a guide! Great video as always.
I had that as a child. As for the rocket boosters, you are supposed to rotate it in order to remove, not just pull it off the clips. I remember that from the instructions. Probably best to do so given the age of that plastic.
Ingenious fixes as usual.I think it might’ve been a good idea to glue felt on both sides of that hinge thing. I would think it would last a little longer.
Hi Great job of the restoration to the six million dollar man Repair station you've done a super job !!👍 Not mentioned was the missing plastic lens in the Base of the rocket that doubles up as a Overhead light unit this lens adds magnification . Also I have found that back in the day Poor old Steve's hair colour gets rubbed off the back of his head over time When you play with him in and out of the repair station Something to watch out for.😢
Thanks. I covered the lens in a second video, Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/BCISM7bKuts/v-deo.html&pp=ygUldG95IHBvbGxvaSBiaW9uaWMgcmVwYWlyIHN0YXRpb24gbGVucw%3D%3D
Man now this brings back great memories definitely on my birthday in 1975 I received this along with my Steve Austin and we had many many great aventures... Interesting part is that most people don’t realize there are two versions of this the initial one released in 1975 with the advertisement on the side panel of the Engine block photo illustration. Then again in 1977 it was released but this time the side panel illustration had the bionic grip with the I-beam illustration..
Awesome restoration as always! I had some of these 6MDM toys when I was a kid and just loved them. Obscure reference for you: the capsule reminds me of the Fenix 2, the device used to rescue the chilean miners back in 2010.
I absolutely love this line and series. The playset may be fiddly but it looks very impressive on display and has quite a lot of play options. It was like a Transformer before Transformers🤷♂️ Also, I had a similar childhood experience with the Fisher Price Adventure People Alpha Probe Shuttle. I always wanted one but the closest I could get was playing with one that was in the toy chest at the child care facility I attended. Despite not owning one, some of my fondest and most vivid childhood memories are with it. I should look into buying one of my own now that I’m an adult…🤔
Super Nice work!! Nice set for its time but very cheap made. If some producer will ever made a newer version for modern kids again it sure needs some sound and light effects
'Poor man's lathe'. Protect the 'pin' of the home made connector with masking tape. Put the protected pin in the chuck of a variable speed power drill. Medium slowly rotate the connector and hold the nail file on the edge to 'true up' the disc to make it very circular. Don't go to fast, and it wont melt!
the glass screen is actually held by a separate clip, riveted in. the inside clear clip which is a small square, rotates and then the glass piece remves.
Instead of felt, next time you could use permanent vinyl sheet that comes in the rolls for cutting on a Cricut. You get a closer match and would have matched the plastic feel if the clips.
Don't know if you can do it now but I've got this set but the paper disk for the x Ray machine is beyond repair on mine as it looks like it's been wet and also coloured in. Any chance of scanning your good one so we can get a print off it. Be great if possible to finish the set off. Great video again as usual 😎 👍. Thanks.
Have you thought about making new disks out of sheet styrene? You could print out your scans and apply them as stickers to the styrene disks. I know that would be different from how the toy was originally constructed but it would be a lot sturdier than the paper disks. I'd worry that the hexagon holes would wear out again over time.
Great work, as always, Dave! I wonder, had you considered gluing a small square of blue vinyl for the clips in place of felt? Maybe that wouldn't have been strong enough? In any event, happy 50k!!!! 😀🎉👍
what can you do about a damaged torso mechanism? i picked one up and found that theres something screwy with that part, his head wont rotate right as a result of parts being dislodged and the lever is either missing or somehow go jammed inside
I wish I had kept my rocket ship and Six Million Dollar Man. We had just moved to a small rental and I didn't have room to store them. I gave them both away to a local antique store 25 years ago. I wanted to sell them but they wouldn't give me any money for either toy. Both were pretty worn out and the rocket ship was missing parts; now that I have a son, I know that he would greatly enjoy playing with them. My wife keeps telling me that I can't keep everything. She is right, but it's one of the regrets that I have.
I just picked up a Steve with a Transport in a tattered box. I will be making your stickers, THANKS!.... But it only has 1 tube. Any Ideas for them? Or do I neet to just pony up for crazy price originals?.....
Hi Toy-Polloi, recently I bought a Bionic Transport and Repair Station in its original box, but has missing instructions and catalog here in Puerto Rico. Found that the radar base part to attach it was missing too, is a little blue L shaped part, please let me know if It possible to buy one. Thanks in advance, Agustín
*CONFESSION TIME* - As a young teen (or so), around 1990 - I bought one of the figures at an antique/junk shop, and it was broken, and in terrible shape. The eye thing didn't work, the action feature didn't work. And I... I *attempted* a repair. And I failed, to horrific results. The torso is glued together, my pre/teen brain solution? "Well, I'll just 'hot-knife-cut' that apart and open it up!" 😬😣😫😑😔 But, in all fairness - in 1990, that would be the same as a pre-teen today cutting up an already half-wrecked toy from 2005. So - *LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES KIDS OF TODAY!* - Practice on the truly unrestorable, or figures of no consequence, or let a pro like Tony do it.
I’ve watched you upgrade some Star Wars ships like the Slave I with lights and stickers. Could you do the same kind of thing with one of Steve Austin’s Rockets…???
A layer, or two, of the clear coat on the legs should help them start in place a bit better. Would you be prepared to do a voice over tutorial of the footage of this sticker creation process, detailing what you actually do? The tools used and the process to tidy up a scan? I would love to create replacement Gobot decals, as the share a similar design.
TP it's killing me watching all your videos...I had ALL of this stuff...All the Evel Kenevel, Six Million Dollar Man, Big Jim toys and playsets. But then turned into a 100% Star Wars collector and sold ALL of these old toys (in perfect condition and most in the original boxes) at yard sales at our house here in Toronto so that I could fund the purchase of my first Atari 600XL 8-bit computer. SOMEONE made a fortune on their resale but it wasn't me. But nonetheless Atari Still Rulez at my house!
_"We can rebuild him, we have the technology"_ - You can't and you don't. Ironically, the technology wielded by Toy Polloi is probably at least as good as the tech they used to rebuild Steve Austin. I would be _deeply_ worried if anyone tried to rebuild any part of my body with 70's tech...
Good catch!
I must have missed that. I will find something that fits. Cheers
I was about to make a comment and then I read yours.
I can't stop watching your vids. I swear I'd marry you this moment just based on your ability to restore these classic toys. Your vids make me want to dig out all my boxed up classic toys and display them proudly.
Is that a proposal? I'm not sure Mrs TP would be that happy 🤣😘
@@toypolloi HAHAHAHAHAHA!
My brother and I were given this back on Christmas '75. Great restoration for a great toy set!!
Another impressive repair and restoration, by Toy Polloi.
It's very cool. I never knew it existed.
Thank you for sharing the repair of this great toy.
A REAL blast from the past.....
Brings back great memories…also remember there was a robot enemy that had interchangeable masks…great job !!!
New t shirt merch idea saying......"The Lego Just Happens To Fit"!
I love when Dave says this!
Ah the memories, I had this, a huge Space 1999 Eagle transport and a Starbird among my original toys
I remember getting this for Christmas in the mid 1970's in the sands of time I lost track of of Steve and his repair station ,but in the early 2000's Ive regained Steve the repair station and much more in the bionic universe
Thanks Dave, thoroughly enjoyed watching this. What a difference!! Had this back in the 70's so brought back great memories.
Glad you enjoyed it
As I write this it's friday afternoon, and this has been the perfect way to transition from work week to weekend. Thanks and great as usual
You're so welcome!
This playset has a lot of charm. I am not very familiar with these toys but it's the kind of thing I would have liked as a child. It really encourages imaginative play. Another great learning session
Great repair of a brilliant toy, Dave. I would be seriously tempted to stick the computer dials on some thin styrene or perspex sheet, before cutting them out, which would make them more rigid, and less prone to being rounded off by use.
This was an awesome video. I have seen a few people show these in their collection but never in this mode. Such a good toy!
Such a fantastic video! The Six Million Dollar Man toys were some of the first ones I ever remember owning as a kid and I loved this repair station to death (even as the parts slowly vanished one by one). Thank you!
another cool video. Very informative and entertaining. Good work, Dave
A wonderfully executed repair to a Repair Station. I had a busted up one as a kid, it made for a quality Shield Generator during our Star Wars battles...loved the restoration
Awesome repairs to an awesome playset . This is before my time but man it's a cool toy line.
Really cool toy, great restoration!
You're right, the glossy stickers look great.
Wow that was a great restoration. I got one of these for Christmas back in '75 or '76 and l loved it. Wished I had kept it. You're such a wizard making the stickers in Photoshop. Really enjoy your channel! Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Awesome job!

Oooh. I would have loved this toy as a kid. It feels familiar, but I don't remember ever seeing it. Lots of neat fixes in this video!
Somebody involved in this video is definitely a Blake's 7 fan.
That would be me!
Aaaah! I was always trying to wrack my brain as to what that intro was homaging. Now I now!
Very fascinating 👏
Fantastic job Dave, really glad to see you could work your magic and make this look so good.
Thanks Alan. It was a fun project to work on. Next I need to see if anything can be done with the box!
I had one of these they were tidy.🔥🔥
Looks fun!
awesome video great restoration

Nice video , Great toy the Bionic transport i did a review a while ago for his
Really cool restoration of the Six Million Dollar Woman
I think you may have used my scan of the stickers from Flickr, judging from the dirt and scuffs. If so, I'm glad you found them and were able to use them as a guide! Great video as always.
Ah cool. I grabbed it ages ago and couldn't remember where from. Thanks for sharing it, it was a great starting point.
We got Lego destruction! This is awesome!
I did try that. It gets to fat and puts pressure on the hinge when shut.
Felt for a hinge? WHATTA CONCEPT!
Hi
Great job of the restoration
to the six million dollar man
Repair station
you've done a super job !!👍
Not mentioned was the missing plastic lens in the

adds magnification .
Also
I have found that back in the day

Something to watch out for.😢

For cutting small circles a hole punch set is very handy.
Awesome restoration as always! I had some of these 6MDM toys when I was a kid and just loved them. Obscure reference for you: the capsule reminds me of the Fenix 2, the device used to rescue the chilean miners back in 2010.
Great video and amazing job brother. Sucks that Kenner never made Dr. Rudy Wells.
11:30 you could also use paper-thin styrene cut into a disk, it would retain the hexagon hole cut-out without wearing down
I bought a compass with a blade to cut circles out of card and stuff. Might be something for your toolbox, Dave.
I have that long bit with the 3 hole's. No idea wher it goes! Now I do!
Super Nice work!!
Nice set for its time but very cheap made.

Awe yeah you know it's gonna be good when there's Lego destruction!! 👍👍

You could certainly do that. I just wanted to fix up what I had.
Great work, as always, Dave! I wonder, had you considered gluing a small square of blue vinyl for the clips in place of felt? Maybe that wouldn't have been strong enough? In any event, happy 50k!!!! 😀🎉👍
Vinyl is very hard to glue and get a good fixing, but it might be possible. Cheers
what can you do about a damaged torso mechanism? i picked one up and found that theres something screwy with that part, his head wont rotate right as a result of parts being dislodged and the lever is either missing or somehow go jammed inside
I think the legs of the repair station could use some teflon tape to make them stay seated firmly.
You should tryva Mr.clean Magic Sponge
To clean with on large parts works well
You can apply some clear epoxy on the felt
Blake's 7 opening?
I had this rocket back in the day. Steve and the rocket became garage sale fodder, I think. Oh, well.
I barely remember having one of these before Star Wars figures ddebuted.
I wish I had kept my rocket ship and Six Million Dollar Man. We had just moved to a small rental and I didn't have room to store them. I gave them both away to a local antique store 25 years ago. It does now! ua-cam.com/video/BCISM7bKuts/v-deo.html&pp=ygUUdG95IHBvbGxvaSB0cmFuc3BvcnQ%3D

Those parts do turn up on eBay from time to time. Cheers
Is there a special sticker paper. For making chips
No, just normal paper. Watch my previous video on this: ua-cam.com/video/9-cdBsrkTu4/v-deo.html
Thank u. U are very creative. I appreciate yr videos. They are very enjoyable
How do you replace the xray paper?
Unclip the sides of the X-ray case and it comes out.
How about some sort of heavy duty duct tape of similar color?
