  • We finished up all the little things for the turbo manual swap on Project Black Brick.
    We sort through all the wiring associated with the turbo swap and get all the vac and cooling hoses plumbed. We had to improvise the new intercooler/radiator mount but using the old brackets worked out really well.
    We relocated the battery to the trunk and will be installing a proper battery box for it soon.
    It runs great. We still have a bunch of little things to get done before it's roadworthy but the swap is a success.
    Stay tuned for our next project. It's going to be awesome.

    I swear, all old Volvos guys are the same. And I mean that in the best way possible. Some of the best people in the hobby.

    Thank you guys for taking good care of my car. I loved it more than you can imagine. Keeping it running before you got to it was a full time job. I was worried when my brother sold it that it would fall into the wrong hands. I was wrong. You did exactly what I always wanted to do. Thank you.

      Also forgot to mention you’re welcome for the door pockets haha. Came out of one of the other 3 we had.

      Yes dude! It's a great car. The body was in really good shape so it was a great candidate for the swap.

      Clapped Out Garage I tried to keep it in good shape. Had it since 2012 myself. Keep that automatic antenna in the trunk BTW they’re a pain in the rear to get ahold of!

    Crazy to see both my cars in your driveway-- a 240 and a Gen 2 Montero. Both are amazing and underrated cars. Don't see many of either around here!

    200-700-900 Volvo series without an exhaust muffler sounds soo good haha..just like a tractor. Too bad you'll get pulled over by the cops if they hear that.

    You can hook up the power steering pump with the stock mount and space it out. I took out my ac compressor and did that, and it works awesome. Also cut off the excess material that was used to mount the ac compressor. Awesome job dudes. A lot of helpful info.

    The exhaust should be clamped to the bell housing, otherwise you'll stress the manifold.
    For PS, it's the same layout as the 360, but those parts are rare.

    Currently having a b230ft swapped into my old 144s. Came here for exhaust noise to see what its gonna sound like 👌🏻

    • @ClappedOutGarage
      @ClappedOutGarage  6 років тому +1

      Yeah the exhaust in this video is not so great because we accidentally left the flange that connects the catalytic converter attached to the downpipe so it was banging around a lot. It sounds really cool with just an open downpipe. The turbo baffles a lot of the noise.
      We made another video where we put a "straight pipe" with a resonator on it and we like that. It's pretty quiet but that's kind of what we are going for since it will basically be a DD.
      I'm sure you will find a balance you like with the exhaust noise. B230 Turbo engines can be left straight and be plenty loud, or you can really quiet it down with a resonator/muffler if you want.
      Good luck man.

      Clapped Out Garage Ultimately, the 144 will be a daily too. The plan more or less is to build a very quiet exhaust for early mornings, and run a manual dump for loud afternoons. Gotta use that leftover choke pull for something since its in the dash, amirite?
      I’m too old and cantankerous to have open exhaust all the time. Even if it sounds pretty damn good.

    One of the best videos/info on the m46 swap ever. Actually helping a lot and i believe it’s putting me on track to redoing my m46 (spec. on repositioning the flywheel to the starter and it’s correct spot). But may I ask how you guys got the shifter in and if there were any references to that area? First swap ever and have been stuck for awhile lol. Thanks guys subbed!

    • @ClappedOutGarage
      @ClappedOutGarage  5 років тому

      The shifter pretty much lines up with the hole in the trans tunnel when you bolt it up (check ua-cam.com/video/NTHdVDJ85js/v-deo.html ) and of course you have to install the reverse lockout but that is relatively straightforward

    What did you guys do for the engine harness? Or did you get a turbo engine harness?

    • @ClappedOutGarage
      @ClappedOutGarage  5 років тому

      It's the same harness that came in the N/A car. Just had to extend a few wires (like the MAF) due to sensor relocation.

    Hi i have a idé go to the scrapyard and hawe a look on a stoc 240 turbo too se hau the egsat pip from the turbo is made

    • @ClappedOutGarage
      @ClappedOutGarage  6 років тому

      Unfortunately we don't have any 240 turbos in the scrapyards around here. Otherwise we would have used a downpipe from one. We made a follow up video showing what we did for an exhaust and it worked out.

    Was it the heat shield underneath the car that was rattling?

    • @ClappedOutGarage
      @ClappedOutGarage  5 років тому +2

      No it was the flange that connects the downpipe to the catalytic converter that was rattling. We just had an open downpipe but the flange was still attached for some reason and was banging around.
