This whole experience must have felt incredibly liberating. One of the things that's got me excited about getting into this sport is the ability to get to areas others can't by car. I live on the coast so there are a lot of little sandbars to explore away from the crowded beaches. Great editing from the visuals and music, too!
The only downside to my new goal of fly camping with you Colten is the start of a rather expensive hobby... for years to come! After watching this, I believe it will be worth it. 🌿 I kayaked that exact stretch of the Kootenai with my family last August. Surprised you setup tents right on the low shoreline... that's asking for 100% humidity and dew in the morning! 14:45 Pretty sure I watched you from my yurt in the woods when you did this epic fly across Copeland bridge last year!
It’s absolutely worth it! You can expect to spend between 12k-15k for everything including training, but I can promise you this…there’s nothing else you could spend that money on that will bring you as much enjoyment! Every dollar I have spend on this hobby has been more than worth it!
@zacharyhooley that’s awesome man! Gotta start somewhere! I remember being where you are at right now and it was so hard not to get impatient, but once you get there it’s so much more rewarding.
@@coltenwenger thanks for the encouragement and motivation Colten! I'm sure my first flight will be a powerful fuel of even deeper motivation on this burning flame inside me. 🔥🪂
You might try the Viper 6, which is similar to the XC, but a different material which is much lighter and silicone-coated so it should have some longevity, especially if you can get it resiliconized after a few years. They claim that it is their most efficient wing.
Great video. I just got my new viperxc 22mt 2 weeks ago now. ive changed from a driftair 20mt. im 325lbs all up so im flying both wings over the top weight. The driftair is ALOT more dynamic but for xc flights it was ok but no where near as stable as the viperxc. the viperxc is alot easier launched but the big difference for me is the landing. the viperxc is much easier landed. The viper xc handles the torque alot better compared to the driftair also. Both wings are amazing but the viper definatly has the edge all round. Im very happy with it.
Cool vid, even though I'm not much on fly camping. I'm more into fly-5star hoteling. Think hot shower, big steak, cold ale, free WiFi and at least a continental breakfast.
Another great video! I was in the market for a new wing and the Viper XC was on my radar, that was until I flew the Driftair. Got one in the mail as we speak 🎁. Driftair you can find for 3,700 new, I’d recommend giving it a shot.
Yeah a driftair is definitely on the list although I’m not sure it’s quite right for tight launches at high elevation while also being overloaded which is what I’d be using it for. I’ve heard it doesn’t excel in those areas, but definitely a fun wing for just playing around with from what my buddies tell me! Hoping to demo one soon tho! Thanks for the feedback
@@coltenwenger Have you considered/demo'd the Hadron 3? Also much cheaper, is designed for XC, and would be a better fit for the use-cases you describe here.
You know I haven’t given it much thought up until recently when I’ve had a few people tell me it might be a good fit for my style of flying. I definitely would like to get my hands on one, and see how it compares. But honestly I don’t think I’ll find something as well rounded as this viper xc. The easy launch characteristics really amazed me, even with it being heavily overloaded. But thanks for the feedback, I’m for sure game to try a hadron 3
Thanks! Yeah I’ve never had a farmer not love it, and I actually know most of these farmers and they always enjoy me giving them a little show. Just the first farmer I flew by in this video he was looking down at his phone the entire time and didn’t even notice me.
A little, although it’s quite limiting. I know one guy that used a trike once. But that’s about the only way. But even then your very limited on where you can land, and there not alot of space to carry the game out with. But for smaller game it would definitely be doable, so long as you can find a long smooth stretch of land to land and take off from
The more I think about it, the more I want this wing…even if it’s a little expensive! Should I get one?!
Of course you should
@@TrevorSteele1 I think your right 😏
you don't gonna regret it, you will be addicted. great way to put your money in in your mind wanna be free and happy everyday.
I have a vantage 2 wing,is there much difference between that and the vantage 3?
Beautiful country.
Greate video! Thnx for sharing your adventures 😊👍🏻
What an adventure - flying these things is a real privilege. Keep them coming….
Great flight... bravoo
That's living, brother. Congrats!
Cool video. I like this style. Hearing comms really ties it together. Keep ‘em coming. Subbed.

A video on what to pack, what specific items like what tent and necessary items to bring on a paracamping trip.

What fuel economy do you get on the viper xc?
Fun video. What are you using for comms?
I am using the nvolo helmets with the built in Bluetooth comms
what was the wind speed. trying to guage my limits so far have not flown over 4-5 mph
Awesome flight guys! What tent is that, as it looks awesome for fly-camping
Thanks man! That is the paramotor tent, made by Gin. Absolutely love it as it double as a cover for your paramotor as well
@@coltenwenger it is super heavy though. Nearly 6lb. I put together an entire sleep solution for cold weather and still a half lb lighter.
@@CalebJohnsonlivingca we're flying here not backpacking, whats an extra half pound. 🙂
Good video. Bit rude fly by buzzing the tractor though
From my experience, those Farmers love the flybys as I'm sure they get pretty bored out there :-)

Do you know anything about using a Paramotor for backcountry hunting?

Bet your fuel burn was terrible with those big side bags. 😮 6L/hr?
Yeah it wasn’t great, I’d say yes it was around 5-6L per hr
@@coltenwenger I have found side bags hit mileage by ~20%, sometimes more. I'm reworking my flycamp kit to only use storage in-line with my body.
Yeah they definitely hinder air getting to the prop and create a lot of drag. I’d like to see what ya come up with and how it workouts for ya!
A beautiful little adventure, love your style, man! Many greetings to your friend, too! Best regards from Wuppertal, Germany, yours, Wolfgang.
Thanks so much! Glad your enjoying the content
