The story on chicken lights as I was told by my father and a handful of old timers was it used to be only chicken haulers had the extra lights in our area since they were the ones who could afford the maintenance and cost of the lights, solenoids, and alternators at the time. Before LEDs became common it was fairly rare for us to see a rig plastered in lights but when you did there was always someone saying "Cluck cluck here comes the chicken truck", whether its true or not it made a good story.
They say: "Chrome won't take ya home"! But dang, in my 40+ years of trucking, I sure loved watching the ones that say that drool over my Pete's lights & chrome! Lol !! Great job Ezra!

Beautiful Upgrade Ezra. I wanted to mention that partsam and most of the other wire harness manufacturers sell the harness with the plugs in different spacing, like 6", 10" etc from light to light. Just so your viewers know. Still hoping to run across you up in the Dakotas some time, buy you a coffee and shoot the shit for a little bit. Stay safe brother

The phrase chicken lights comes from playing chicken with the cops you wire the side lights and bumper lights on two separate switches so you can switch your light combination to disguise as a different truck in the middle of the night

Steve Fezchaick a.k.a FSC Trucking;did the same thing about 3 years ago when his factory stock bumper on Orwell his 1984 Peterbilt 362 cabover,got damaged.When he replaced the bumper;he installed a bunch of LED chicken lights on the sides & across the bottom of the bumper,and also installed heated LED driving lights on the bottom of the bumper;to increase overall visibility while driving at night as the factory stock halogen incandescent headlights aren't nearly as bright,as the heated LED driving bumper lights.
iv got led headlights on the truck there pretty awesome.
@@Ezrider359 I watched the video where you installed those heated LED headlights,and yeah they are awesome.They are more energy efficient,and are a lot brighter than the factory stock incandescent halogen headlights.Steve will wait until his current incandescent halogen headlights burns out;before deciding wether or not to replace them with heated square LED headlights,or just buy another set of incandescent halogen light bulbs.
As for the new bumper on his truck;it didn't come with the pre-drilled holes to mount the chicken lights he bought,so he had to carefully trace the shape of the lights onto a piece of cardboard;cut out the light shapes,then tape the cardboard templates onto the bumper and trace the light shapes with a paint marker;then used a a drill bit in a cordless power drill to make pilot holes,then used a pneumatic Sawzall to carefully cut out the holes for the chicken lights.He could have just called the chromeshop and had the bumper custom ordered;but then he would have payed even more money for the labor ontop of the price of the bumper,so he decided to save money and do all of the work himself.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings.🇺🇸 By the looks of it, your old bumper was in need of replacing. 🧐 A nice chrome bumper on that Pete really brings out her beauty!🤩 I’ve not seen the wiring harness like that…they lined up & gave you plenty of extra for another project. That gives her some nice bling for the front end & the chrome will surely reflect some of the light. I’ve not used dielectric grease is always good to use as well. Good stuff! I’ve never heard those stories of the chicken lights before. Interesting! Blessings my friend.🥰😎✌️

Oh my goodness! Red looks fantastic with that bumper! Cool Legends for chicken lights! I always thought they were a cattle truck thing, I was told that the longer a cattle hauler has been hauling, the more light they have. That's why some have only lights on the top, some top and bottom, then 3 rows, then four rows. Back when I was younger. Nowadays you buy the trailers with all the chicken lights on. Not a huge amount of drivers that own their trailers now. It's a whole different world than when I was a kid. I very much enjoy watching this channel! Thanks for the good content Ezra!

Ezra, another great video. Bumper being predrilled helped a lot. Partsam wiring harness made it a lot easier.

I’m 3rd gen in trucking. When I was a young boy I remember the first truck I saw all lite up. My dad said look at the chicken lights on that west coast pete. (359?) Even had the rims back lite. 71-72? Been a fan ever sense.

I put some of those pedestal lights on the bottom of the bumper of my 359 and wired them with the turn signal circuit constant hot as a running light and DAMN are they bright. I’ll be using your discount code for more 👍🏻
