That was the one thing I spent a lot of time on prepping how i was going to run my lines believe it or not i used pvc pipe it works very well and that goes back to the early eighties when I was doing car stereo system's that made my wire management simple and clean
We run a minimum of lights on our trucks, DOT only lights, a couple of extra back up spot or flood lights, work lights, at a 45 degree angle off the back of the frame so I can see the trailer tires in the dark and in the rain when turning corners, I have seen trucks with relays in them powered off the truck battery to only run the chicken lights on the trailer, looks good buddy, see you in heaven
When i ran. Now retiré from health and age. But i never added lights. Less stress. All i worry about service cleaning and work. And my 1987 379 ext still in my garage.
Hey Justin! Another good video. Sometimes I think that way about lights. Look nice but who needs the headache. I guess it depends on your lane because in the north east I don't need more wires to get caught in the snow. God Bless you and your family and stay safe out there. Hope your dad is doing well.
Years ago I had a light bar of 10 lights on each fuel tank. I was in Chicago 20° 4 inches of snow and they went out. I took them off never to put them back on. That was a good day!
I run northern Michigan daily and I put hdl brand it's I think u would call it a rock light two above each fuel tank not visible when not on but it's completely sealed aluminum housing and comes with rubber back to reduce vibration and going on 4 years now not one issue out of them super bright they are the brightest under lights I have seen on road I run blue it really helps and recommend highly it helps to see people in ur Blind spots at night
The big bumper light will grab something and bend the bumper. The button light like on your trailer is the best for bumper. I agree clean look less lights on the side, I have 5 cab lights 1 breather light on each side, 1 on each mirror but mine are all glass watermelon lights. Good plan to keep the salt out. Great video Justin safe travels
Those lights are a headache. If you don't know about wiring and plus the numerous electrical lines, leave it alone. If the factory didn't put it on (or someone who knows what he/she is doing) let it be. Lights on the huge Texas bumpers with NO tow hook capability are a pain to tow truck drivers.
I am with you on the extra lights and I hate fixing corroded wires I started using a wire connector that has Sauter in it instead of crimping they are quite a bit more expensive but they seem to be working so far but I still use shrink tubes whenever possible for extra protection
Justin I understand everyone has there own opinion you should leave it up to the driver of the truck if he or she wants them then they should be accountable for the up keep of there chicken lights if I was driving one of your trucks with all the chicken lights that you have on them i would clean my truck out and move on addind lights to trucks since the 40's it is a staple of the driver i know they are a pain in the butt if you take the time they will work for years to come i also understand less is more great video as always keep up the good work
That's a quality light, was gonna ask where you got them. Won't find that in the truck stop for 20 bucks, I'd buy them. I have extra lights, just like them, gotta look like a carnival ride going down the road : ). I solder and heat shrink everything, and you gotta stay on it, it's a easy visual violation as you go through the scale. If I had 30 trucks? probably not so much, and there's something to be said for the clean minimal look too, I like that also.
you can use all the preventive measures you want but if the mechanic touches the copper with bare fingers the salt(from finger sweat) will cause the copper to turn green eventually, yes i am a mechanic yes i touch the wires with bare fingers, it happens, that first day cab you showed needs some steer tires those are rock cupping out really badly, side and front facing lights must be amber, rear facing lights must be red, if you shine a flash light on the amber bullet light it may be reflective, required by dot, also the middle of the trailer should have a reflective light if over 30 (i think) feet, same with back of cab and trailer and the conspuiqity tape.
I think chicken lights look great on a show truck at night but agree in a working truck can be a pia .Mega carrier i work for use to buy great dane reefer trailers with chicken lights all down both the upper and bottom sides .Company got tired of getting tickets when one of the hundred of lights would go out so there fix when a light went out. shop would simply cut the bad light off . My company now just buys cheap big fleet trailers unfortunately
I hear you brotha. Chicken light's don't make money. But rather takes money. But they sure look good 😊😊😊 what ever is the person or companies preference.
interesting that ur not a fan of all these extra lights yet the 2 trucks rolling thru the intro seem 2 have plenty of extra lights, lol.personAlly i like um.
I’ve seen a few people machine the Berra lights that way and they work great! Hard to find someone to do good quality work matching something like this. I’d love to grab a few sets.
MR.JUSTIN-- I wish u luck on those low mounted chicken lights --i just dont see them holding up for you ?? I mean there are times ur pushing snow on the Thruway --much less some of the places u deliver to --its not like every yard is plowed & flat & pothole free & u have "40 acres to turn ur rig around" in ?? nice video though 👍

I really wish they would start putting the clearance lights back on the mirrors. I love the original look of the older trucks!
I'm glad to see the Canada is not the only place that has problems with all the extra lights and moisture

I’ve always thought a truck with the lights inside the breathers was always a clean look
Saw a truck that had those, what I call, "top hat" light, on his bumper today.....good looking light.....and bright.....
Ya it's always somefin Justin but those chicken lights sure do look good at night...

Yea. Ours still all have tow hooks that can be added

A company named Lawson sells connectors with shrink tube on them just crimp and heat.l used them 4 yrs.
Yes we use shrink tube a lot !!

Love does light on the bumper. I’m looking for does bracket on the bumpers
Spray the connections with lithium grease. They will not corrode water salt cannot get to it!🇨🇱
One of these days they'll be wireless and you'll turn them on and off with an app.

Does that light shining yellow back get heat from DOT? I thought that anything that knowingly faced rear had to be red.
No problems yet
Looks better if you have lights at least have all same style of light.
Those are 3/4 inch penny lights. Not inch and a quarter
Correct
