Saw Roger Hodgson performing with his own band several times in the Netherlands. Such a kindhearted man. He was the showstopper one night at the North Sea Jazz Festival and was supposed to stop at midnight. But the crowd was so enthusiastic he went on until 00.45 AM!
What this wonderful musician has done for his fans is almost indescribable. My wife and I went to his concert in Adelaide three years ago and he made the crowd feel as if we were the most important people on the planet. Few musicians have such an aura and exude such generosity. My wife and I sing Supertramp hits at the top of our lungs on road trips through Australia. Combined we've both spent almost 120 years on this earth - blessed with the unique sounds of the seventies. What a time to be alive! Roger's band is magnificent. His musical genius will live on forever.
Great words my friend, we are the same age born in 59 we have lived and grew up in such a special musical period indeed, many musical legends still performing. In hundreds of years time this musical period will be looked up as a renaissance musical period I suspect will be hard to be repeated.
I agree to you like 100 %. In a few Days I will be 60 years old. I grow up with Genesis, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Supertramp, David Bowie. Im so proud that I ll be a child of those heroes Best wishes from Germany to All of you.
my eyes close... and I go back...further back... back to an earlier life.... my eyes open... it's 1975 and I'm in the Oriental Theater on a summer night in Milwaukee... aw... and life is so good! Thank you for the memory!
What a beautiful soul Roger Hodgson has. How rare to see such a congenial personality, clearly so happy to be performing and obviously enjoying the company of both his fellow musicians and the crowd. Wonderful.
Me and my girlfriend found this band only recently. Straight away they became my number 1 band of all times. Got 4 vinyls from them now. Supertramp, Crime of the century, Even in the quietest moments and Breakfast in america. All near mint condition, original releases except Crime of the century. Want to have all their vinyls. Both of us started learning piano cuz of them. This is our favorite song. On our wedding day, i wanma play this song for her on piano and guitar. My singing sucks, but its not gonna stop me from putting a smile on her face. Love you Supertramp. Thanks.
I live in a small city in Portugal. Last year Roger Came here to play in a Festival. I bought the tickets as soon as they were available. However, I had the fear that, as it happens with a lot of big-name musicians, he would come in, play for an hour and a half without much interaction with the crowd and leave, collecting an effortless paycheck (as a lot of Portuguese musicians have done in the same stage). The opening band was late but played the whole thing so my expectations were that Roger would leave at the hour he was supposed to, no matter what. I would like to apologize to Roger for I was totally wrong. He came in, he played his biggest hits with passion, he spoke to the crowd in Portuguese and played for a good 2, almost 3 hours. He went for so long that my girlfriend, exhausted, was begging me to leave before it even finished. It was without a doubt the best concert I've ever been to. .Thank you, Sir!
That's hardly surprising. A few years ago he was severely delayed in getting to a festival on the Faroe Islands and began his set at 4 a.m. A lot of acts would have pulled out.
Francisco you were right on, he came to Snoqualmie Washington Best Concert ever I paid a couple of bucks to go see him backstage God bless him he's the best songwriter excuse me besides Bernie taupin
The first cd i.ever played in my car on a pioneer cd tape player. I special order from Japan. Big big supertramp fan. If i could had only to buy 2 cds it would be crime of the century and breakfast in America.
I am actually surprised no one is talking about the lyrics of the song. Roger is actually criticising the whole system we're living in here. I really love the deeper meaning behind this song.
Yes, everybody seems to be overwhelmed by this genius music. But the lyrics are also important. This is even more valid for "The Crime Of The Century" written by Rick Davies.
The absolute joy and glee Roger expresses when the audience is clapping and seemingly participating almost as guest musicians is just wonderful. The joy of good music loved and played by all. One of the best artists in this world over. Thank you!
Pink Floyd, Genesis, Supertramp, Depeche Mode.......... life is too short to listen to all English treasures. Thank you England for sharing with everybody else in the world your fascinating sound
I kind of disagree with Depeche Mode but I would put ELP and ELO to that list (and many more), knowing that all that fantastic 70's music was initiated by the Beatles who broke the might of music publishers and gave the musicians the power they need During the 80s the publishers took the lead again. The result is clear. Too bad...
I’m 38 years old And I’ve been listening to Supertramp since I was about 5 I still love their music till this day.. Dad had a cassette in our muscle car and every Sunday ride we used to listen to it I have such heart fond memories through their music ❤
Exactly one year of this unforgetable moment. I was there, close to you.. I met you after the concert... Thanks for one of the best days in my life, Roger!
Ique Muniz Your comment is all over the place and makes no sense. Are you saying that you stalked this poor man for a year until one fateful night you were able to corner him somewhere?

Back in the day everyone thought Supertramp was just a pop group with a string of hits . The musicianship and arrangements were pretty complex . Good to see you again . Rock on Roger !!

My roommate in college bought me this album for my birthday in 1979 & I've never stopped listening to Supertramp since! It's always my go to for everything. Most underrated band in the US, but I love you Roger, you're the most gifted, talented, incredible musician I've ever had the pleasure to experience! I saw you in concert only one time in Phx & it WAS FANTASTIC! Thank you for always being my musical therapist, your lyrics hit my soul. "Even In The Quietest Moment" is a masterpiece too! I wish you would come to Denver....
just love it when bands don't try to improve on perfection. That's what this song was ... and remains to be. In this concert, they didn't change much at all if anything.
A fan from the early70's and was able to see Supertramp at the Sydney Entertaiment Centre for their 1976 tour. Also attended a concert by Roger H. at the State Theatre in Sydney 2013. Just Bloody brilliant both of them...
I have always started and ended my day with this music…Roger is everything beginning and in between the sounds of all the years, seen him with great love for the songs…can’t get enough!
Saw them in the winter of 79 and they played this entire album even though it was the Crisis tour. Amazing because while they sold out the Chicago amphitheater they were not huge commercially. 6 months later we saw them and they were the best thing since sliced bread on the Breakfast in America tour.
I had the enormous privilege of watching this show in Florianópolis. Great artist, great music and an atmosphere of joy that came from the stage. Thank you so much for your art, Roger.
In the early 80's, I was poor. My parents had just passed. Staying with relatives who didn't really want me. I'd check out Supertramp from the public library and play the LP a lot. Studied a lot at the library as a rock star taught me to do. Get smart enough to pass tests and improve my own life. Went Army, college, writing for a living, and now I make short films and music videos from home. Widowed. Still listen to SuperTramp, but on UA-cam. Thanks for the music!
First time I listened to this album I was 13 years old, lying in my bed with headphones on. Every second thrilled me, and after the album was finished it took me nearly half an hour to "reland" in the here and now. Since that moment Crime Of The Century for me is the best album ever made. Period.
It's really hard to explain how great this man is, I saw him at Snoqualmie Falls a few years back just unbelievable. Paid a couple bucks to go backstage and see him and he's so humble. Anyways I'm 70 been listening to him since the 70s LOL anyways happy trails everybody just a little comment Amanda genius
Always singing along to Supertramp melodies as they were always happy songs. Long live 1970s ... 1980s music!!! Roger has still got a beautiful singing tone.
one of the best live performances ever the guy playing the flute and sax and doing the harmonizing vocals is really good. they are a great duo. roger is such a talented person
I can only hope “the” Roger (Hodgsen) will ever read this, but trust me, the influence Super Tramp has had on my life (how many years later? Saw you in Norfolk VA 1977) I can only hope can be acknowledged - you guys still have an influence. Long Live SuperTramp!
Trop bon
I saw Roger once as Supertramp and twice as his own band. His voice is every bit as good now as it was then. One of my all time favorite shows and a genuinely nice guy.
Listening to Scholl is like watching a Volcano that is about to explode and in 2:30 it explodes with an explosion of talent, it is Symphonic Rock from the 70s
As a child listening to this song in the back of the car on my way to school, I didn't know what it was called. I loved it. The piano. This song is part of my childhood. I got to see Roger sing it live in Caracas, Venezuela.
I'm 69 y/o and so happy I have UA-cam so I can listen to your music. You, Roger, are brilliant.
Marvellous live version of School from Supertramp , hats off to Rodger Hodgson , and all other musicians involved 👍
Fantastic live version! What a SOLID group of back up musicians!!
No Comparison. He and Supertramp were One in a Million.
agree !
I am 84 years and always fan of supertramp
Excellent! :)
Me too! And I am "only" 68. Saw them performing in the early '80's in a stadium in Amsterdam and never stopped loving Roger's voice and songs!

The voice .. the song ... I am transported back to the 1970s.
Love to see all the band members smiling when they play a great song like this and they know that we know that they "nailed it".
It's just sad that Rick Davies is not part of it anymore
Sheer joy!

As long as school wont matter in some political systems - the world is falling down in a greater speed then you can think of
Fully agree! Just like The Wall by Pink Floyd. Nowadays even more valid and actual.
Oh he is so underrated!!! He is a gift for all of us to behold and cherish!
This came out in '74, and surely inspired Another Brick In The Wall by Pink Floyd in '79 because the song meanings are identical.

Since that moment Crime Of The Century for me is the best album ever made. Period.
@@clausappel8086 Exactly!!!!

Brasil and Roger have a perfect combination. The happiness is always there.
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!
I adore this HAUNTING VERSION of "School" soooooooooo much!!!
wow this man still has it , awsome what an Artist
So good on so many levels - the music, the lyrics, the arrangement, the singing, and everything else.
I was musically awaken by Supertramp in the late seventies and very few bands have touch me since.
I would give up everything today to go back young to relive those days, with the people who listened to Supertramp with me.
I couldn’t agree more..
I would come with you😊
Monsieur.lynda.
Always singing along to Supertramp melodies as they were always happy songs. Long live 1970s ... 1980s music!!! Roger has still got a beautiful singing tone.
What a masterpiece! Absolute classic! Roger Hodgson is a genius!
Good music is timeless without social or political boundaries without generational differences.
Roger Hodgson thank you
Esto es sencillamente impresionante!! La voz no envejece... Son geniales, suenan como en un estudio.
one of the best live performances ever the guy playing the flute and sax and doing the harmonizing vocals is really good. they are a great duo. roger is such a talented person
Saw Roger play live once. That was fabulous, what a great party!!!!
I can only hope “the” Roger (Hodgsen) will ever read this, but trust me, the influence Super Tramp has had on my life (how many years later? Saw you in Norfolk VA 1977) I can only hope can be acknowledged - you guys still have an influence. Long Live SuperTramp!
Sweet
Trop bon
Beautifull, une symphonie! Une créativité hors de l'ordinaire!
Hello Carnen, How are you doing?
I saw Roger once as Supertramp and twice as his own band. His voice is every bit as good now as it was then. One of my all time favorite shows and a genuinely nice guy.
Listening to Scholl is like watching a Volcano that is about to explode and in 2:30 it explodes with an explosion of talent, it is Symphonic Rock from the 70s
A fan since 1971. Thanks Roger for the stellar music and the memories!
I was a fan of Hodgson’s “Argosy” band prior to that….you joined the bandwagon a tad bit late
Me too!
As a child listening to this song in the back of the car on my way to school, I didn't know what it was called. I loved it. The piano. This song is part of my childhood. I got to see Roger sing it live in Caracas, Venezuela.
Meu cantor favorito. Nunca haverá outro tão maravilhoso! Roger Hodgson é único.
Love Supertramp for ever
Berlin ....Deutschlandhalle .
Full on WOW, old school, well done, saved to my library forever, and will share links with others.... Awesome
On of my favorite groups. Back when musicians actually could sing and play.
Yo
Dead right
Amazing how much we sound like our parents and grandparents LOL
True, in some senses without a doubt. But fast forward into the future, and virtually no songs worth their weight in gravitas.
John Anderson AMEN MY FRIEND!!😄😄😄
One of the all time best songs ever written. Talented group of musicians. Thanks for sharing with us .
YES!
"You're Bloody Well Right")!!(
Takes me right to my troubled , yet informative childhood. Thanks Roger !
Powerful is a understatement… this was an time in history…
