    As a Therapist, I do incorporate spirituality, if that’s the clients goals, it’s not necessarily that we’re not trained. After 26 years, I’m very comfortable. I’m not uncomfortable of pulling in all natural supports, including faith; it’s their personal journey and my commitment to them.

      At least you let room for what they are their choices and I am glad you do it

    I could listen to Dr. Thema for hours and hours. Something about the language she uses is so nurturing to me.

      You’re not alone! I feel the same way, as I rode home today from Costco with a big pack of cookies in my passenger seat, munching on them.

      @ 😩. I wonder if I’m in
      Some type of depression and dk. I don’t drink or smoke I EAT ICE CREAM!

      @@Momplusoneenjoy it! Change to the healthier lower sugar ice cream & it’s more expensive & the containers are smaller. Then get healthier & healthier versions but don’t feel bad cuz everybody & anybody could become addicted to ice cream.

      @@MomplusoneI have a sweet tooth too but it’s worth the effort switching to healthier options. And if you can do physical activity it gives you a dopamine boost. I’ve noticed just doing reps with 10 pound dumbbells in the morning really improves how I feel. And eating fruit.

    When you eat unhealthy you enjoy the moment, but you feel the downside when it’s over and that last a lot longer.

    In my entire life I was never told by my parents, Aunts, Uncles or cousins that they loved me. As a result I love deeply with my husband, my daughter, my grandchildren and siblings with every breath and with all my heart and soul❣️❣️❣️

    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VALUABLE PODCAST! I didn't realize all that *I* was doing was making me feel low, when I was trying to counter that with all sorts of affirmations, journalling, etc. which is amazing! BUT what really solved my problem for me was acknowledging the impact of my cognitive distortions and behaviour on my own self!!! I feel SO MUCH BETTER! SO much freer. THANK YOU! I have learnt a great deal, and am looking forward to more excitedly! THANKS MEL AND DR THEMA BRYANT!

    Within the first few minutes, this is groundbreaking and SUCH an important topic. I’ve been learning SO much about having to recover from and unlearn clinging to the familiar hell. I never used to watch crime shows but after my life changed to become a dream, instead of taking advantage of all the blessings in my life, the nature and mountains I live around, the farm and becoming homestead I share with my partner, instead of cherishing and embracing and getting vulnerable with my partner I started watching mountain disasters, hiking horror stories and it escalated into crime shows - binging all day long. That was months ago that I stopped because I know how important our brains focus is. It’s so difficult to unlearn the aversion to safety and stability, but it’s so worth it. I’m so grateful to already have the stability, safety and beautiful life I’ve yearned for… now I just have to really continue to ALLOW and give myself PERMISSION to be safe enough in it to experience it and be fully present instead of in fear and anticipating loss which CREATES the loss we work so hard to avoid…

    I would appreciate Mel incorporating ideas of faith in SOMETHING outside oneself. It's alot to only rely on just your own power and belief in yourself.

    OMG! I read Dr Bryant s book...fantastic and helpful!! Thank you Mel for bringing her on!! I grew up as Jehovah Witness and shunned cause not go to their meetings. I just quit going and still a decent moral person. My family does not have anything to do with me at all. It is so lonely and sad for me in this time in my life. I have even know people that this religion made them commit suicide cause so sad & family left them. Thank you for the tips on how to make self feel better and nourish self..
    Ms Robbins as next topic...can you do a topic of earworm songs built up your inner strength?

    I used to love crime shows (and I do still love mysteries), but I heard someone say a few years ago that those crime shows are feeding trauma. I don't watch those anymore.

    Therapy is super expensive and not readily available. What if a person can't get Therapy even if they want to. A lot of Therapist's are not good and even make the problem worse too. So over hearing Therapy is the answer or joining a club etc what if the person has Depression or Social Phobia etc

  • @jeanieshank1433
    @jeanieshank1433 4 дні тому

    Many educated people realize religious trauma is a thing. I don’t want a therapist to bring that into therapy. I would fire them for that. I’m so done with faith.
