I appreciate the fact that you are willing to teach the home owner a safe and respectable amount of information about his home setup. Some techs try to keep this info a secret.
Tony, you have a great teacher. Watch this video several times until you recall all the parts. If you impress Mikey in the next video he will give you a raise.
Welcome Anthony! Great job in Guatemala ! Don’t worry too much about not knowing anything at the moment. Just show up on time with a positive attitude and everything will eventually come together. You are with good people. Stay calm and trust the process.
second video I watched. I'm a new home owner. I love the way you teach and explain. I'm very hungry for knowledge and can't wait to watch the next video. Thank you so much.
no It is a solenoid or coil when energized by the thermocouple that creates a magnetic field that is attracted to the iron part of the valve, thus holding the valve open. There ain't no magnet in there MP. Sorry. you were mostly correct.
Mike, you hit a home run with this video, you will reach 100k before May if you keep videos like this coming out! Love the detail and the patience and understanding with new apprentice, LOVE IT❤❤❤❤❤❤ PIPE DOCTOR DOES IT AGAIN!!!!
Nice Video, a miracle, a millennial who wants to learn about the way the world works. Amazing teacher, I know it’s slow going now because of his lack of experience but he can learn. Thank you for making the trades great again.
When I trained my apprentice I told him on his first day that even if he walked away today without knowing everything I wouldn't be surprised as it's your first day by the first month he knew most of all the parts I'm an electrician and he's now in his second year of college doing electrical install and he's doing super well
Oooooooh! $50 you wont tounge test that red wire like Peter Piper didthat 24v! 😆😆😆😆...jk... Dont do it, ive been hit with more than 440v n lucky to be saying it... Agree with all the commentors, you have a great teacher right there.. Been up-keeping with my Rinnai gas tankless water heater and Trane HVAC system beyond what i thought i was capable of.. good luck to you brother, learn the trade and make the best of a hell of a career!
Never knew the Hartford loop * was invented from the insurance co * see 30 years in the trade and still learning stuff ! Cool TY ! Best trade in the world ! If ya want to learn ! Learn how the system works ! Helps in trouble shooting also **
Anthony seem like a Good kid hopefully he likes Plumbing and Heating and is a quicker learner , they used to tell us at Lilco that it could take 5 years for someone become decent serviceman hopefully he doesn't get overwhelmed
Mikey pipes! Huge fan of the Chanel by the way. Been doing commercial hvac and refrigeration for a couple years now and I noticed when checking to see if safeties are open or closed you test continuity after taking wires off. Just curious why you don’t just check voltage across to make sure you don’t short nothing out again!? Lol (If open you will see voltage if closed you will see 0?)
Anthony you have a great boss and teacher. He is up on everything. That's why I hired him to convert my boiler and the install was amazing. Ask Mike to show you the pictures. Good luck 👍
I would jump out the spill switch.. roll out switch.. all the 24volt switches.. check for 24 volts at the transformer.. if you have 24 volts then the pressure trol and LWCO are closed..
I have a steam boiler. Also well water with a softener. The probe on the boiler is a Safgard 45-214. Can it be cleaned? If so what’s the correct way? I put a new one in a year ago. Thanks
Great video again. What a great young man . He gives me some faith in the future . I hope we can get some like him in senior care . When I’m old I would like caregivers like him not a young millennial that sees me as nothing more than a speed bump on his fast lane to running the world. 😂 . I think he’s going to be great . He needs to learn 2 of those pieces everyday to learn them all so it’s not so overwhelming or when at home simply watch your videos .
We had steam, PressureTrol units (two for some reason) would have issues. No auto fill so we would add water manually and dump some water out of the ITT low water cutoff. Back in the day we would lock into a oil price and the service contract was free, everything was covered. Now I hear people pay hundreds for the contract and it covers no water parts??
@@PipeDoctor being in this trade you know your self . You will burn your self . Electrocute your self And blow your self up among other stuff . Lol Have a merry Christmas to you and your family and staff .
Well, well, well... Looks like the pressure switch wire is feeling a bit electric today! Who can blame it? Voltage can be quite shocking at times. Let's investigate this electrifying situation and zap away the problem!
Mike, between Anthony and Daniel, it looks like you have a great young crew. Peter is coming along good too. I work on Commercial Steam Boilers, larger ones are in the 25,000,000 BTU/Hr. Range. The basics that you are teaching Anthony will transition to larger equipment, if he wants to do that in the future. The bigger they are, the scarier they are, 125 psi or higher Steam Pressure. All boilers need to be treated with respect. Thanks for the Videos.
mikey pipes got one for ya turn thermostat to off and heat still works stat off to ac on and heat still runs with ac on oil fired boiler baseboard heat its my house nobody has been able to figure it out ... i was told a check valve in a circulator ??? thx
My first thought would be a bad thermostat if everything was working fine until a recent point. Tough to say without seeing the equipment, could be something as simple as a wire jumping out of a wirenut.
@Mikey Pipes - Pipe Doctor Plumbing & Heating & Air it started with old stat put a new eccobee stat and did the same then put another one up and just hooked up boiler to the third one alone and left ac on the eccobee so have 2 stats on the wall so it's definitely not the stat. I don't believe I thought it could of been a low voltage issue in the beginning but not sure just was seeing if you had this issue before thx
When it started I thought it was the stat so put in a new eccobee and it still did it so put a new Honeywell on the wall next to the eccobee left ac on the eccobee and wired boiler to the Honeywell and still doing the same so 3 stats didn't fix it. I thought it was a low voltage issue but a friend of mine said it's probably a circulater thx
He seems like a nice kid, but he says yes when he can't see what you're talking about to seem like he knows more than he does. This is a bad habit because if you ask him if he gets it or got it and the answer is always yea or yes when he doesn't you can't trust him to be able to carry out service calls on his own. Happy Holidays Mikey Pipes and crew. And Anthony no shame in asking questions or saying no.
MOST are willing to learn which can be easy if one applies themselves. however, using that knowledge while under pressure to resolve issue x is another can of worms. ive had guys who wanted to learn how to finish concrete early in the season and they did good. once summer came with hot temps and wind which make the concrete set up extremely fast and if you fall behind....concrete is getting tore out or customer gets free concrete. thats some heavy pressure for someone new and unfortunately when that time of year hits alot of guys quit. is this newbie going to handle the pressure of doing multiple no heat calls in the dead of winter or burst pipes with peoples well being on the line? im going to say 50/50.
HEY ANTHONY!!! It's Prince spaghetti day (Wednesday) ! Back home in Massachusetts, (in the '70s), Wednesday used to be Prince (a brand) spaghetti day. Mikey, do AHJ in your area approve high temp tape in lieu of screws for smoke pipe joints? that would be very strange, indeed. Thanks!
very educational video, great work. always important to keep learning
He's a good teacher. I csnt believe how many people know so little about their boilers. Great video
Full support 🔥
I would have answered that stack question with.
