I think these will be my most worn boot of 2023. I have the ones with the rubber on the sole. They are just way more comfortable than my Thursday's or my Red Wings. Say what you want about the Thursday's only being $199 or the Red Wings using about $30 worth of "better" materials, it doesn't matter if the boot sits in the closet because you don't enjoy wearing it.
Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots are the perfect shoe for when I wash dishes at Panda Express. 1000 Mile Boots and Allen Edmonds go on sale, and there are coupons. Red Wings Heritage Boots and Alden never go on sale, and they don't have coupons.
I know they aren't really worth the price tag, but I love my Wolverine 1000 Mile boots. The look and the feel are great. The Iron Ranger or the Blacksmith are IMO a much better all around boot. But damn, the 1000 Mile boots are just cool man. Sure, the all leather sole isn't durable. Sure, there are quality issues. Sure, the clicking isn't always the best. All that being said? I don't care. I still love that boot. Good stuff.
William, I ordered a half size down in my pair 10 and normally a 10.5 like you and then I put a Dr. Scholls thin insole in mine to help the comfort and take up a little slack... Made the fit better and added comfort... Actually I pretty much do that with all my boots... Arm and Hammer makes a nice thin insert as well and WalMart has their own version too.. For me it makes a difference... Also I put a coat of Sno Seal on the sole and it helps with grip... Nice video buddy....Greg...IN
I just ordered 1 for $270 Canadian. Bought a size 9 when I’m usually a size 10 or 10.5 in sneakers. I’ll come back and say how they fit. In terms of the sole I think I’m just going to go to a cobbler and ask to put some vibram on the forefoot for around $40.
Very good review. It helped me decide to buy a pair from Wolverine's website during their Memorial Day sale (for around $200!). Getting a 1/2 size down was definitely a good recommendation. Liked and subbed.
@@smiley-qb3nt I've done some with steel shanks and one with fiberglass. It depends on when they were made and I don't know how to determine what it is without taking it apart.
i think confusion with the shank comes from the fact that wolverine say there is no shank meaning no metal shank. probaably they were answering to question can you go through scanner with them. they have it but plastic one - just they didnt explain it correctly...
Great review. I have the cap toe with the vibram sole and the rough outs..both are great boots...thanks for your work...I would look at Nordstrom rack for deals on these..I got the rough out for $220.00 and the cap toe for $169.00...
They look tad smaller but are roomier than say my Thursday captain which are 8.5 and they are a little tight they are narrow. But yet wolverines 1000 I have look little narrower but are roomier its weird despite being 8d which is smallervthsn my captains. .
I just ordered these same boots today! Should be arriving next week. Would the leather cream (neatsfoot oil) I have from Red Wing be okay to use on these?
I'm wondering if I should order these in the same size I wear in Thursdays (9) or the Iron Ranger (8 1/2)...my sneaker size is 9 1/2....Any ideas what I should go for?
I would say this is actually better than the grant stone diesel. The only major problem with this boot is that the insole isn’t leather. Other than that this is a real rugged service boot, and the grant stones aarent. The diesel is more of a dress boot, looks too flat and ugly
About 10 or 11 years ago I was really interested in getting cordovan 1000 Miles, but eventually they started to look like Ronald McDonald shoes. I just can't wear boots this reddish anymore. (I ended up getting the black 1000 Miles instead)
I wouldn’t call these “work boots”, maybe back in the early 1900’s-1920’s but not modern day work boots. Lol I’d classify these as more of a classic heritage lifestyle boot with “work boot” history. Not a dress boot, maybe a service boot, but wouldn’t call it a “fashion” boot either. Lol
L Johnston what dies that mean? You mean the guy who gives an honest review of his experience? He didn't trash RW, it sounds like RW trashed themselves.

I think there are some 1000 Miles that come with a rubber outsole. That would be the way I’d go.

ActiveLivingChallenger it's called a toppy.
I also wear size 10 sneakers. Do they fit you well in size 9 or maybe you advise buying half a size (9.5) smaller?
How did the sizing fit ? Did the full size down fit well ? Or is 1/2 size better?

Glad I could help! Thank you for watching!
True, that. Every 1000 Mile boot resole I have seen on UA-cam shows a steel shank.
I really want a pair . I think it's time but I have a pair Thursday captain boots and they are holding up good after 2 years .
I have rebuilt 3 pairs of 1000 miles and they all had shanks in them
Steel shank?

dang, those are fantastic deals! nice find, and thank you for sharing
Beautiful boot. Can't wait to see what you review next!
Thank you for keeping up with the channel--I really appreciate it, brother!
The Cordovan No 8 color gives off shades of purple. What’s an easy way to make them more dark brown looking and less purple/red?
Enjoyed this review as always. 👍
Thanks, brother!
I wear 10ee iron ranger. Is the D width forgiving? Are the 1/2 sizes wider or longer?

Venetian Shoe Cream
@@BC08 I actually got some Saphir Renovateur. Should do the trick.

I'm am 8.5 in sneakers and bought 2 pairs of wolverine boots, and I felt the best fit 7.5. I also added an insole for a snug fit.
Great review.
I love my 1000 mile cenntenial edition
Thank you brother!
Did they stop offering the #8 option? Lame if so
What’s the heel drop ?
All chromexcel leather is really vulnerable to scratches and scuffs. Fortunately, they're easy to clean.
True that---I'm loving Venetian shoe cream for Chromexcel
I put a rubber 1/2 sole on them
ooo that must be nice. I'm going to do the same when the time comes.

What kind of dog is that and whats his name?
He's a shih tzu named Mookie... He's awesome

The iron ranger is better
Your video is too dark. Try lighting your room so we can actually see the boots.
Just do it yourself, half soles. Not very hard. Some good videos on how to do it.
Vibram is pronounced Vee - Brum
You look like Steve McQueen 🧐
This made my day

These are a overpriced. You get less construction quality than red wings.
I've also heard the QC is spotty on the 1000 Mile model. As a Red Wing owner I can confirm the construction quality is solid.

This review sucks, show the boots in a working environment and see how they hold up.
