If it's just flux core gasless, you don't need the copper looking shield that's only used if you use gas on the end of the gun with that taken off you get a better look at the wire coming out 👍
Thanks Andy, Look forward to all your video's on this beetle. You have been great help. Wish our prices were the same as yours state side. Canada ont is expensive
Hey, Andy! Loving your videos as always! Andy, I have an unrelated debacle to your video. I am currently driving a 1998 camry, which has 136K miles. My parents got this car brand new in '97, and they have been the only owners of it for 26 years . The car has never had a transmission fluid service nor a differential service in all it's life. Currently, the transmission is slipping, and it's been getting worst. Sometimes when I put the gear in "D", instead of driving the car will reverse, and other times it will take almost a minute for the car to drive even when pressing the pedal to accelerate. The fluid level is normal on the dipstick, but the color is dark brown . Should I drain and fill the fluid? Many sources tell me "No" because of the fact that the service has never been done for the age of the vehicle and it's current mileage, as they say it may slip worst and that clutch, seals, and debris will get worst, while some say I can just drain and fill it without any problems as long as I do not flush it, should I drain and fill it,which I am tempted to do, but I am just afraid of worst problems and having to buy a new transmission, which will be awful! I am really confused on what I should do .
Well, it sounds like the transmissions already done. If the fluid smells burnt in other words really really bad then it’s already too late. Even draining it out and putting new fluid and really isn’t going to help.. you can try if you want to. I don’t think it’s gonna hurt it. It just sounds like you’re in need of a new transmission for a rebuilt transmission
@@AndyTheXTech I appreciate it, Andy! I never did smell the fluid, which I should, but I haven't smelled anything abnormal yet. I will give it a sniff test, which I forget to do. I hope the drain and fill is a guarantee, but I am not even certain of that. Tough times, Andy! If the drain and fill wouldn't hurt, I'd give it a try. You are appreciated! Thank you!
Hey, Andy! How are you? And I am sorry to get back to you on this topic, but in regards to my '98 Camry, with 136K miles, that's never had a transmission nor a differential fluid service, would you recommend a flush,or will that still be too risky? I know you said it's a bit late to get this service done, and that a drain and fill probably wouldn't hurt, and that it might not salvage anything. My mechanic is so adamant on doing a flush instead of a drain and fill, because he says the flush is the only way to salvage the transmission, but I did not agree with him on that, even though he has been an excellent mechanic of mine for the past several years . He told me to get 8 quarts of ATF fluid from Toyota, but I only got 5 quarts, along with a new filter and gasket, because the drain and fill for the ATF is 2.6quarts, and for the differential it's 1.7 quarts, because again, I am only planning to do a drain and fill. Do you agree with him that I should do a flush, or should I stick to a drain and fill. I really trust your expertise, Andy, as you have been steering me in the right direction.
Again, I don’t think it’s really gonna make a difference. If the transmissions already done. You could always drain and fill it replacing the filter and if that didn’t fix it. Try to flush it. After that if it’s still messed up, you need a transmission.
@@AndyTheXTech Hey, Andy, thanks a lot!! I really appreciate it!! I just did not know who turn to on this subject, so I had to ask you , as there are some other mechanics that I know in person, but they are not the most patient. I only knew of this channel of your's over the past few months, as I have first known you on the 1A Auto channel! I really feel comfortable with your demeanor because from both 1A Auto and on your own channel, your videos are very informative, cool, and fun at the same time, and you are very trusting! Thank you for all of your help, and sorry to annoy you like this . I just do not have enough trustworthy, reliable sources to turn to . And I hope it's not an issue if down the line, if I have to get your expertise on other things. What I will do for now is get the flush instead, and if it does work for this instance, then I will get the regular drain and fill interval that the vehicle asks for every 30K miles/2 years. Does that make any sense?? Thanks for all, Andy!!!!
@@AndyTheXTech You got it! I will be enjoying your content. And by the way, have you done a video on how a mechanic does a pre inspection on a used vehicle, from fluids, to suspensions, interior and all? My goal is to get a newer vehicle by late this year/early next year , but I want to know what to look out for on a used vehicle. Thanks, Andy!
