Hey Richard, I watched your e bike videos and they give me more confidence to go down the diy bike conversion , i am eager to buy the parts to build my first e bike but just want to make sure i buy the right parts and dont waste my money, i am now thinking a 500 w front hub to go on my Boardman mx race bike, my journey is 8 miles each way to work can you recomend what batteries i would need ?
Hi, I tend to get around 1 mile per amp hour so if you go for a 10 or 12 amp hour battery if you can charge at work or a 20amp hour battery if you need to complete the return journey. That should give you some charge remaining when you get home. A lot depends on how aggressive you are with the throttle, your weight, terrain and the wind. Good luck with your build.
I only ride it for fun in the dry. There's no way i'd ride it in the rain on those tyres at that speed. If i was using it in the rain id mount it in a box or a bag and put some bigger grippier tyres on it..
You are using the same setup as me but I'm using the multistar 10c lipos I found out that the 1000w motor is the same as the 500w so you could go for a 48 volt 1000 watt controller where did you get your Cycle Analyst from and was it easy to wire up
I got the cycle analyst from a UK company Jozztek.com, Very helpful, a chap called Steve helped me confirm the parts i needed. Which for this kit was: V2.4 Direct Plug in with Speedo Cycle Analyst & the V3 Shunt for stand alone CA. It was fairly easy to wire up. I filmed the process and I'll upload it as soon as I can.
Hi, You just shift up or down depending whether your're finding pedaling too easy or hard as you would on a regular bike. You can fit regular rapidfire shifters. Grip shifters wont really work because your throttle is where the shifter should be.
You took a yr to reply 😀, not to worry I removed gear system totally, just use throttle, no pedalling, been great, up to 30+ mph, got 1000w, voilamart front wheel motor kit, been 100% reliable except in rain throttle gets compromised but only in heavy rain
That is similar to the kit I bought! They are so much fun ! Great video !
Very nice

Isn't it dangerous to leave the controller exposed like that? I would've thought the rain would ruin it.

Richard Hanson that will be very helpful mate as you're using the same controller and wheel
@Porcelain Throne I've just ordered a 48 volt 1000 watt controller with display to go on the wheel but my batteries 52 volts Max
@Porcelain Throne true time to change my ebike frame box again now the control is bigger
@Porcelain Throne nice what's your top speed
I don’t understand these kits, they come with a throttle but what do you do about twist grip gear change system ?
