great tutorial...the problem we normally have is, if we dont hear drastic changes, then we assume that, the plugin is not working lol...we find it difficult to hear and accept those subtle changes.
idk if this helps at all but I think you're talking about the mixing stage where sound are brought together, tuned up and cleaned up to sound as good as possible before finally entering the mastering part where you do little adjustments to make it pop. I guess most people do them together (at the same time) because it's easier but really if you think about it you still do some mastering anyways even if it just really mundane things at the end of your production

The problem some of us have is we’re mixing in untreated rooms or using headphones not fit for purpose, like commercial headphones such as Dre Beats and mixing/mastering at volumes way too loud to hear any of the changes you’re making accurately. You don’t hear anything on any of these circumstances.
Mix at low volumes, use a plugin like Sonarworks Reference 4 which allows you to hear your mix as if you’re sat inside a treated room with no eq bumps, completely flat response that enables you to really hear properly, mix in mono most of the time if you need help with how loud some of your instruments need to be etc.. Turn on your plugins and don’t mess with the settings, just bypass it and switch it back on, guarantee you’ll hear characteristics from the plugin without even changing the settings. I put plugins on my mixes without changing settings sometimes just because I like how it sounds overall. If you mix quiet you’ll really hear everything you need to hear a lot better
Start with flat headphones no bass boost.

I remember stumbling on your "How I Do This Track" videos on Facebook. Found your engineering channel a while back. Just followed your mastering guide step by step, with my own respective plugins i own of course, and comparing it to the master I did with Ozone 8's "Smart Master" it isn't nearly as squashed and the track is "breathing." This tutorial is gold thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

ProTip: in FabFilter 2 you can use truepeak detection and you dont have to use 2 limiters

i realy wanna thank you for all the uploads you did ..... now my mixes and masters sounds realy clear and good ..... i self dont run protools ... but i work with Presonus Studio One 4 .... the only thing i still have to learn is more training in the EQ ..... and the paralel compression .... but i gues that is a little defrent in my daw system..... but so far all the things you show on youtube helpt me a lot ... and my friends that record there vocals here are verry happy with the outcome ..... maybe its fun to show how antares autotune works in 1 of your videos ... so i / we all can learn a little more on how to use it good in the music
