Bro, when will this song drop? It's fire 🔥
my guy we're gonna need vocal/singing tutorials next lol no cap
Please create a template version for Presonus Studio One users, am sure am not the only one. Thank you!
make em for reaper
Can you please make a video about how to mix stacked vocals in particular or just if there is any tips on that
This man teaches like he really wants you to learn
Facts… after really watching just 1 video my pro tools edit sounding 🔥
Yea. No holds barred... I have no physical equipment but my Poweramp equalizer prowess has improved greatly, just by listening and putting his teachings into practice.
I completely agree. Very inspiring. I wish him all the success in the world. 🙌🏾
Exactly
Faxxx
I went to school for engineering, completed an apprenticeship under an amazing engineer, and mixed a couple tracks that were released on commercial albums; so I know all this but (9minutes in right now), this still has value to me..
I'm gonna save this video because it's a great refresher course for when I've been out of the studio too long and start making rookie mistakes or been IN the studio too much and get so carried away with adding artistc touches that I lose touch with the fundamentals.
Great idea always good to have something to reference
Devvon should do a video showing progress from his subscribers that have watched his videos, because of his channel my mixes have gone from shit to literally professional sounding in just a year. This channel is a goldmine keep it up
Same here
100% it’s crazy to hear the difference after watching a couple of his videos
I would say it if you didn't.
That’s actually a great idea !!
Nate Beltran frfr. My mixes improving my the week
I'm a simple guy, I see a help me Devvon tutorial notification, I click on it. #notificationgang
GANG GANG GANG!!
simple lol
Referencing is the #1 mixing tip. Not just for vocals. But for everything.
MixChecks ABSOLUTELY!!
"You don't reference" has been the story of my life. I've learnt so much from you. thanks
Mine too
Referencing is so important!
There's absolutely no feeling like pulling up a reference track too late only to realise the mountain of shit you just mixed lol
Blessings King, Always appreciative of your time.
Raw vocals sounded good enough to work with. Usually people don't pay attention to the source of the audio. Devon sang well and recorded himself well. A poorly recorded vocals is a no no
Nize it Waji
@@monarc98 you obviously don't understand what I said.
That's guy here gets it👌🏽✊🏽
@@pluvioworld4716 nize ur beak fam
@@crimewavbeats5532 ur name phillip dawg
Seems like every week you drop a video on the exact topic I am trying to improve on 🙌🏼
Bruh! I literally had to blurt out, in the middle of the vid "why is he so good!?" lol Now I gotta go back and listen but this tutorial is worth the listen. Very objective and chill.
I have watched hundreds of mixing videos, many from record-selling professionals, but none of them remotely compare to how in depth this tutorial and other tutorials by Devvon are and how they allow me to get way better results way faster!
I’d love to hear your take on how you order your plugins in the inserts and how you choose to route your vocals!
@Ashley Harris YES
Can you make a video about recording. Things like tracking with plugins and how hot we should record etc.
Yeah, that's a great comment
Sure I can!!
Very much needed
@@HelpMeDevvon plz n thank you
good one!
I don't like watching long videos on mixing at all, and it took me a while to give one of your videos a full chance, but i respect the depth of analysis bro, more people would definitely benefit from hearing your advice
Yea u can always stop fast forward or rewind that’s why I like to take my time and EXPLAIN things I want you guys to actually learn it!
I sure did
Yeah the analysis here moves minute by minute, while a lot of videos take 10 minutes to get to the first point you can slap in a mix and see some kind of difference.
@@HelpMeDevvon for sure man your stuff is highly underrated
The best mixing tutor I have ever watched on YT.
the way Devvon flows through this..you know he lives this life.
you're definitely a very good teacher
ive learned after years of learning off youtube, skip to the end and listen to the results before you spend your time listening to the teacher! Best results by far thank you for making videos, I use your hi end bus on every mix!
i love that you talk to the everyday artist with untreated rooms. i been recording in an untreated basement for years
How do your recordings sound to studio reference tracks? I'm wondering if it comes close, Thanks.
This was definitely one of the better EQ vids I’ve seen. I never thought to add an EQ after for the IN-CONTEXT mix. Goated
Hey Devvon. Wanted to tell you that your videos have EXTREMELY helped me with my production. Truly thank you so much for your attention to detail and simplification of topics.
I'm a rock dude, and this helped immensely. Just the idea of removing problem frequencies before compression, is good as gold. Thank you sir.
I'm just trying to learn the technical side of music, been writing for ages...
A lot of these guys are just awful at tutorials. You do a great job explaining everything, and NOT ASSUMING we have a certain base of knowledge.
I'm literally clueless when it comes to this stuff, especially the terminology beyond just identifying what effect is what.
Thanks for everything man and I wish you success in your pursuits
Whatever it is you wish to get out of music
Okay what I “don’t like” about this guy is how humble he is! He plays his song & it’s SO FIRE 🔥 & he just downplays it like BRUH I’m in you on Spotify 😏😤
I don't think I can ever thank you for how much info you share man. If I ever need a refresher on any subject in mixing, I pretty much bounce between you and three others. So again thank you.
I've been teaching people recently on mixing in Studio One, and also giving voice/music lessons. For concepts like EQ and Compression I send them to your videos after we finish a session, pretty much as a way to study at home. So i cannot stress how thankful I am for these videos when it comes down to this practice.
All Love!
No problem!! I’m so glad it helps!
Thought me the basics really well. I used to do things by ear only without knowing how to resolve or even understand what I was doing Devon is a fantastic help!!
mr. devvon Jesus loves you. you teach like you could be a pastor. your teaching is amazing. thank you so much!
reigniting my inner mixer, it's been 12 years. You're a great instructor.
Very good video... I have never seen a boost like your final eq. Defintely something new!
man ur videos are so helpful the way you explain things are so helpful
I don't know if anyone has said this to you......but you seem like a cool guy with a deep passion for music, and a cool flow about you. That makes learning from you a lot easier. Dig that.
Yo I feel like a mastermind after seeing this! I love that you take us through the certain frequencies and give them a description like so I can say if I want to pull room noise I’ll head to these certain frequencies. And pull some from 200-314 to brighten and bring forward. Your descriptions. Perfect bro. So helpful. Thank youuuuu 🙏🙏🙏
Even his raw vocal sounds better than mine when im finished. I record on an at 2020 with an isolation shield and my raw vocals have so much bass to them. A lot of the people I see on youtube doing vocal mixing tutorials have super bright vocals to begin with. It really gets me fired up
Try taking a step back from the mic when recording, look into the proximity effect if you don't know about it
lower the pre amp gain try to record vocals at -10db
at2020 is good mic, actually close to tlm 103. its weird cause that mic doesnt even have a ton of low end at all. maybe you need a better preamp.
Carlos Mota ya I record at -18
Hightop I stay a good 8 inches back, I don’t what the problem is
Bro this is so MONEY!! I can't this is FREE!! Thank you for sharing!!
best vocal eq vid by far
Another excellent video Devvon ! 😀🎧
EXCELLENT, GOOD JOB CHAMP! HOT TRACK TOO!
Nice technique, bright, silky and clear vocals 💯💯🔥🔥🇰🇪
Bro the way you explain things is on point 💯💪🏾
no way you can find a better spoken gentleman than Devvon
Your videos are so recommendable.
Devvon you are a legend
Dude as a producer trying to teach myself how to engineer, this is the most comprehensive explanation of EQ I’ve heard so far. I’m definitely stealing your philosophy thank you devvon
I appreciate you Devvon🤜🤛
Great teaching ….love the way you explain
I'm glad I came across your channel
Maaan Devvon it’s crazy you haven’t blown yet! Plus this level of information is priceless! Thanks so much! 🙏🏾
Bright young man. Appreciate ya
Now we need a vid on how to bring the “body” of these thin vocals back! Great help channel btw!
just look up his video on compression and add that step after your EQ
Be careful w the low end u dont want to take alot bc thats where the body comes front ! Also w the higher frequencies try to balance it out and use compression to make things more even !! Parallel comp also would help
Another thing besides compression is adding harmonics using saturation big dawg
Record loud enough. Boost around 100 ish hz
Parallel compression my guy
This channel is mad helpful and you're an incredibly good teacher for subject matter that's so technical. I really feel like I got a better understanding of EQing from this video. Really appreciate you and all the great work you do.
Bro.
excellent camera work.
excellent screen presence.
very. very. very well done!
you earned a new subscriber.
:)
Can you please make a video going into more depth about Pre/Post fader sends? Would love to learn more about how you route busses esp for all the effects (instrumental AND vocal)!
“ rowdy richhh “ i love it bro😂😂😂😂😂
thanks devvon
Going through all your 💎S 🔥🔥🔥
You are saving my life here
This is by far the best channel on music production. You make it easy to understand by the way you explain things. I’ve learn so much and I’m grateful for your knowledge bro. God bless
No problem glad it’s helping!
Bro you're good❤👍👍
Great video
Thank u Devvon🙏🙏🙏
Your videos are sooo bad ass mate, much love !
probably the best explanation of eq techniques I have found !
Thanks for sharing the knowledge 🙏🏻
Respect my guy, in two days watched wuite a few of your videos, it's safe to say you put in work and have just the right energy for this!💪🏻 thanks for everything you teach
you make the progress when your teacher is so good
OMG so happy I found this video. my mixes level out so much easier now. Subtractive EQ was the missing key!
"I don't see your friend so I know Im not wilding"
Thank you Devvon.
You are a very good instructor
The way you explain every single thing it's just amazing, thank you for taking time to make these videos
great teaching fr love your energy
You're so on point bro.
devons the man!!!
Devvon is the goat!!!!!! Thank you
you are doing great job sir...... Thanku for teaching us...
You're helping me way too much😂 thanks
this video is so sick. thank you, its good to finally get a tutorial which actually names the frequency ranges, so I can get a better grasp on what's going on in the EQ. THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU!
That song is fire 🔥
almost done watching this and I can't wait to use your method! There's always something to learn, I'm making an album and producing and engineering myself so I really should look into reference tracks. Thank you Devvon!
Bro it’s the biggest mistake people are not doing
Everytime Im thinking of recording this dude comes out with these videos LOL
OMG you work exactly like me, i go for feeling to! you`re a legit mixing engineer bro, music is a bout feelings, work should be techincal stuff but the result has to be love!, i always say when i mix and produce, that im "looking for the love" in the sound" same with the 3k hate that shit. verry nice vid bro.
Excellent voice!
Thanks very nice way to explain and take us trough it! :)
you got skillz D! and your videos are mad helpful lol
Fantastic, detailed walk-through of subtractive + additive EQing with clear examples. Huge thanks!
I gotta hand it too u I’ve been engineering since I was 13 I’m 32 now and I’m still learning till this day and with you I’ve expanded my knowledge and workflow thank u I just purchased the drake template vocal I’m gon try to do it like u I got every plug-in but the auto tune
Excellent tips!!
Very helpful. Great explanations, would be nice tho to know when you're bypassing and not. But overall thank you 🙏🏾🔥
Just found your channel! Best tutorials bc you actually say WHY you’re doing everything and exactly what the small details change!
This information is so valuable and there's very few people who take the time out to explain the process in this level of detail, thanks so much!
Bro keep making longer videos. There is a lot to learn from you. Make 1 hour 2 hour fuckin 3 hour videos. They are never boring 🔥❤️
You can learn so much on here
you are a F'ing LEgend man thx for all your tips
Hopefully this will help me get a clearer vocal, usually my vocals tend to be muddy and I've been struggling making them cut through the mix.
Check the volume as well in the mix
1. That song FIHH! 🔥 2. Appreciate your help man, fr!
Nobody on yt helps me so much in mixing like you!
I make electronic music but man I’m glad I ran into your channel! You’re great at teaching!!
Lovely watch what you shared
Thanks so much!! Cleared up a lot for me. Subbed
Hello Devvon, i came across one of your tutorials recently and when i applied what i learn the result was mind blowing. thank you for all you do for me and others who have been benefiting from you. God bless you!
Eni klin beatz no problem!!
My vocals now sound so much better thanks to your videos 🔥🔥 great video
That song stuck in my head
