Same 💗 I soon began imagining that the people were all touching a feeling creature, or a fellow human, and the gentleness and variety of all their little caresses just sent me 💧
ok .. I just came across Joe for the 1st time on a Towsends video .. and now I'm enjoying one of the best comedy shows I've ever had the lucky pleasure to experience.
7 months ago you watched a video about making a simple three legged stool with round mortise and tennon construction. Today I am laughing at the same video that was brought to me from the same Townsend video. Did you ever make a stool?
@@cptn_chromo3189 I'm sorry friend that you don't enjoy. He has a very unique style of comedy and I understand it's own taste. But how come Ham on the bone isn't called pork drumsticks?
At the Minneapolis show the squirrel bit was capped off by a guy in the audience who happened to have a photo on his phone of a squirrel eating a cheeseburger. Joe made him show everyone in the audience.
Oh man, the squirrel pita chip audience participation part went on for like at least 10 minutes alone live. It got pretty chaotic. Then things calmed down, he went on to the Dr Pepper part... then asked the audience after all that. So good.
I cried at the end and I’m not really sure why. Maybe it’s just beautiful to see people slowing down enough to appreciate something as mundane and miraculous as the cold of ice.
Me too. I watched it TWICE and bawled like a baby at that part both times. I hope he releases a studio version as part of his Drifting Off series to listen to at bedtime or simply when I could just use a good cathartic boohoo that comes from the appreciation of the shared experience of trying to find your way through life, whether that includes sharing a bed with a benevolent babadook or lamenting your existential guilt to an imaginary cow friend.
I needed to see this. I was looking for someone else who could have felt the same. Now I don't feel as broken to be crying in the middle of the night before sunrise just because of that last segment. I wish... more people could be as introspective and caring as him. This is an exaggeration of himself, but it's his true self. We need more people like that. To not be afraid to be like that.
Every time I listen to anything Joe Pera does, I feel like it makes me a better person in some subtle way. I love you, Joe, please keep the ice tray full.
I'm a huge comedy fan and this is the first time hearing Joe. I absolutely loved him. Calmest I've ever felt during a comedy special. Almost brought a tear to my eye as well.
In my observation, Joe Pera pretended to be Joe Pera for so long, that he finally became Joe Pera. And when I decide to watch or listen, it's just for me. I don't invite groups over for something this important that they might not understand. Live on, Joe.
2:28 as a brazilian I feel represented. I'm trying my best to introduce my friends into your art here in Brazil. Thank you Joe for the shoutout and thank you for your art, it´s helping me to be the best part of myself since last year. I hope someday I will see you live. É o Brasil e não tem jeito!
This is genius, the simplicity, humbleness and saying the things that are deep down inside contrasting the incongruities. First time seeing Joe, now I am a fan. Thank you Joe.
Joe Pera is comedic legend. The awkwardness, authenticity and delivery make this man one of a kind. I’ve been a fan for years. Love to see him have a special and do so well.
This blurs the line between comedy and literary art. It's like a non-fiction essay written by a Pulitzer-winning novelist. I don't know how someone is able to write and perform this. It's so beautiful and the world is better for having it. The ending is the epitome of making the mundane profound.
Joe, thank you. I sobbed and laughed through the last 20 minutes of your act. I thought about those nights holding her, the times spent growing up with my grandfather, the nights on the pond in the middle of summer, and so much more. Thank you for bringing me back to those places. I appreciate you.
Just finished the show, thank you and your team Joe. Also, it didn’t occur to me until the post credit ads that you kept ads out of the special, huge respect.
Holy shit, the UA-cam algorithm has blessed me. I’ve never heard of you before, Joe, but you literally had me cry laughing with your dead pan delivery. So glad I came across your act.
I saw Joe in Albany at the Egg on the Slow & Steady tour. It was a really special night for weird laughs and chill vibes. Joe paused the show for 5 minutes and chatted with the audience, waiting for an audience member to go and come back from the bathroom.
There's something very heartwarming seeing everyone touch the ice at the end, I used to have social anxiety really bad from depression, it still lingers. But I had a girlfriend that taught me the ice trick, and it works.
Yep, same. He had me laughing my ass off with the “Do the Right Thing” joke and then two minutes later I was crying because of how beautiful the atmosphere was. For some reason I still haven’t watched his show. I’m going to remedy that today.
I agree! He has amazing timing, but I think it's the whole character that makes it genius. His slow cadence, low volume, and slur demands that you give him time to speak. He utilizes that space to work the impeccable delivery in without feeling rushed.
This made me surprisingly emotional and laughing at the same time. Love that he is calm, measured, thoughtful and intelligent…Detailed and beautifully written. “Remember when you used to live with the guys” was such a good bit. Every minute…just loved it to bits.
I wish there was more conversation about how damn good of a writer Joe is. the story with Yoobi is just so beautiful and heartbreaking and honest. Thanks for the laughs Joe :)
I can't believe some of the words that came out of Joe's mouth, and low-key kind of regret trying to introduce him to my parents tonight! What a great show, and what a great column, I hope they publish it. I hope it gets recorded into the library of Congress. I hope they include it on the next space capsule they send to broadcast images of Human life to aliens. Excellent bit.

Me too, Great Flaming Eyebrows, me too...
Same 💗 I soon began imagining that the people were all touching a feeling creature, or a fellow human, and the gentleness and variety of all their little caresses just sent me 💧
When I saw this special I said “oh boy” out loud, that’s how excited I was
Right? My husband and I both exclaimed, "Oh, look!" when we scrolled through the UA-cams and saw it.
This man is a comedic genius. His slight misdirection combined with phenomenal timing is amazing. Thank you Joe for everything you do.
I agree the slight misdirection of pretending to be mentally handicapped while being able minded is the cherry on top 4 me😂
Cutting back to the person standing in the back throughout the special made me laugh harder and harder each time
So that’s just a random wtf? Haha
Thanks! I'm glad I made you laugh.
For some reason I thought it might have been his father.
@@ilovemw3123 Is that you announcing him at the beginning too?
@@Titibasana same tbh
This is the decade of Joe Pera. I am so glad people found him finally
I was late to the game. Very happy to be here.
I watched him being born so I'm clearly the most superior here.
his comedy aged really really well
No. No, it isn't.
@@cptn_chromo3189 I'm sorry friend that you don't enjoy. He has a very unique style of comedy and I understand it's own taste. But how come Ham on the bone isn't called pork drumsticks?
Only Joe Pera can spend 7 minutes talking about a squirrel eating a pita chip and make it one of the best comedy bits I've ever heard
Technically that bit went on for 10 minutes.
Cringe cringe cringe cringe cringe…. 🐿️
So good.
Fantastic special!
I cried at the end and I’m not really sure why. Maybe it’s just beautiful to see people slowing down enough to appreciate something as mundane and miraculous as the cold of ice.
Cringe
You’re not alone, it was a beautiful shot
I think it's more just how unique every single person's gestures were, I am still consistently impressed by the sheer variety of humans out there
The last segment was so beautiful it had me in tears.
Me too. And having the communal ice block felt spiritual

I’m glad I’m not the only one
Every time I listen to anything Joe Pera does, I feel like it makes me a better person in some subtle way. I love you, Joe, please keep the ice tray full.
Thanks! Please never stop doing what you're doing
I was so glad to be able to meet you and attend your show in Beaver Creek. So glad you released this for everyone who couldn’t make it.
I am dumbfounded, speechless-nearly, and I feel like the world might be a better place than I thought. I'm so grateful for you, Joe!
I live in a time where I get to watch Joe Pera do crowd work for FREE!!
The camera fixed on the usher is a masterstroke.
First time I’ve cried to a comedy special. Absolute beauty. Bravo.
I’m here for the full Joe Pera hour. It won’t be a wasted one.
I LOVED THIS SPECIAL! The crowd work during storytime about the temperature has me in stitches! Almost broke character a cpl times!
Thanks for sharing this special with us Joe!
I'm Gen X. When I needed Weird Al, he was there. When I needed Emo Philips, he was there. And now I need Joe Pera. And here he is. Thank you.
At first I read that as "weird ai"
I’d love to see those 3 guys hang out.
I will make myself a cup if hot cocoa, grab a blanket, turn on the AC to not be too hot and whatch this with delight
I am having hot chocolate while being here for this now. Thank you
Got a rotisserie chicken and a 10ft charging cable for my Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to watch this in the shower while I eat.
Don't forget the mini marshmallows 😊

I keep expecting Joe to lose the magic, but it only grows stronger… the world really needs someone like him, especially now
It’s because he’s genuine. Even though it’s a bit he’s still a genuine sweet person :) we all need to slow down and be a little kinder like Joe

I feel such a comfort when this man is talking. It's like I'm being hugged by a million midwest angels
I've never seen a stand-up comedian take so much control over an audience's attention using nothing but his hypnotic command of comedy. Brilliant!
This is genius, the simplicity, humbleness and saying the things that are deep down inside contrasting the incongruities. First time seeing Joe, now I am a fan. Thank you Joe.
This was truly wonderful, you should be proud of yourself as much as we're all proud of you
Joe Pera smoking the largest cigar of all time at the end really sealed it.
One of the best specials I’ve seen in a long time. “Damn dude” 😂

Joe, thank you for delivering such a great show… it was exactly what I needed on this Friday night…
Thanks this was awesome and made me and my wife feel good.
Just finished the show, thank you and your team Joe. Also, it didn’t occur to me until the post credit ads that you kept ads out of the special, huge respect.
He's just so, so wonderful. What a gift to the world. What a joyous day.
The open relationship/foster joke, combined w his delivery was legit genius and heartbreaking at the same time
It reminds me of something my grandma or grandpa would say, like, you're kinda right grandma, I'm not gonna debate you
I'm really really looking forward to this. I'm genuinely happy you exist within the comedy sphere. You're a breath of fresh air
Holy shit, the UA-cam algorithm has blessed me. I’ve never heard of you before, Joe, but you literally had me cry laughing with your dead pan delivery. So glad I came across your act.
Absolutely blown away. I love this guy so much. Completely unique, but knows where he belongs in his niche. He’s exactly what the comedy world needed.
Who the hell is this guy? Very unique, funny and heartwarming. One of those comedians who will leave you smiling

What a beautiful set. I teared up at 55:12 to 14 when one person fixes the ice.
That last lingering shot of the hands touching the block of ice is brilliant.
It was a spiritual experience watching everyone blessed by Joe's block of ice.
I saw Joe in Albany at the Egg on the Slow & Steady tour. It was a really special night for weird laughs and chill vibes. Joe paused the show for 5 minutes and chatted with the audience, waiting for an audience member to go and come back from the bathroom.
Of course he did. God I love this man.
Man, I just recently found out about Joe. Right after the show in Albany! Aggghh!!
He is an example that we all should follow.
that was so funny. and when they came back we all cheered
aye shout out albany
There's something very heartwarming seeing everyone touch the ice at the end, I used to have social anxiety really bad from depression, it still lingers. But I had a girlfriend that taught me the ice trick, and it works.
My wife and I are at the lake celebrating our two year wedding anniversary. Your special dropped at the perfect moment. Thank you, Joe.
That is so sweet. Happy anniversary 🥹

Joe Pera is so wholesome and tender, I found myself crying at the end. Anyone else?
Yep, same. He had me laughing my ass off with the “Do the Right Thing” joke and then two minutes later I was crying because of how beautiful the atmosphere was.
For some reason I still haven’t watched his show. I’m going to remedy that today.
The more I think about it, I think it should be expected. I'm not gonna recover from this... but in a good way.
@@IsuiGtzit's almost like his endings make you feel the full range of emotions which makes it more memorable
When people touched the ice, for some reason, a surge of emotion came.
@@George.Andrews. agreed, the big ice cube part at the end was absolutely brilliant.
His comedy is almost 100% timing. It's like...Cubism but with collection timing: a deconstruction almost to the point of absurdity. I'm in love.

@@callumwilliams2172……………..Cubes for my boys 🫰
I agree! He has amazing timing, but I think it's the whole character that makes it genius. His slow cadence, low volume, and slur demands that you give him time to speak. He utilizes that space to work the impeccable delivery in without feeling rushed.
Cubism for my boys.
Timing… is… everything…
Most unique comedian/writer in at least a decade. He drops my blood pressure and cracks me up simultaneously. This made my day. Thanks Joe.
William Montgomery for President 2024
This made me surprisingly emotional and laughing at the same time. Love that he is calm, measured, thoughtful and intelligent…Detailed and beautifully written. “Remember when you used to live with the guys” was such a good bit. Every minute…just loved it to bits.
I like how you're holding a leaf. I like to find nice leaves and sometimes flatten them in a book. Also I like all the acorns. Autumn is beautiful

The pill from Limitless will do that to ya
Why would you regret introducing him to your parents?
He's referring to the graphic sex references in the article that kinda run counter to his usually wholesome content.
i get about 70 percent of joe's references because i am old and out of touch. he is a special talent and the music is a perfect fit. you say you love joe pera and he is a national treasure and i agree with you. i would have touched the ice and i have no idea why.
