- Tonight's episode comes from some of the books and articles sitting around my desk. Subject matter ranges from interior design to angels to blueberries to Apollo 11. It's simple but I hope in a good way, like cheese and crackers.

Drifting Off With Joe Pera is an evening comedy podcast from comedian Joe Pera and composer Ryan Dann. With low-key jokes, immersive soundscapes, and relaxing phone conversations, Joe’s narration and Ryan’s sound design will help you unwind and perhaps even fall asleep.
Featuring guest composers and interviews with interesting folks, the podcast will be released on the first Sunday of every month. Sorry, it's not more often but this is the fastest we can do thoughtful, quality work.
Joe, you should make an episode about screws. The little unsung heroes keeping our civilization fastened together for hundreds of years.
In the country I'm from a screw is a jail guard.
Cold idea
As someone with terrible anxiety which flares up at night, this is wonderful
You got this, I know it's hard, but I know you're strong. The fact you haven't turned into the people that hurt you, already shows how strong you truly are. Never, EVER forget that my friend.

I'm not freaking out about my life anymore. I think I can handle it. I think I can learn to be grateful for my life.
you can make it through this Jonathan Franzen. I believe in you.
Let go and let God
Just focus on the most concrete part of your life. Appreciate that and branch out. From there, you can begin to feel confident and grateful about the rest of it. Trust me, it takes time
I love you. You have always been there for me when I needed it most, when everyone else in my life has gone. Thank you Joe Pera. These (any contents from you) are the most comforting thing in my life and have been for going on 10 years.
Nah fuxk that positivity bruh. Im drownin 😩
Joe, I may not be using this to aid in sleep - yet, as I go through a healing in my chronic illness - it is with great gratitude I turn here to calmed and put to ease in my body.
As an academic, it's a pleasure to hear you divulge into the many interests of the world.
Joe,
I was lucky enough to discover your work late last night, and I cannot express enough how grateful I am. I don’t have trouble falling asleep, but I do battle intrusive thoughts, and have been going through an especially tough time mentally the last few days. Your shows have brought a peace and calm back into my conscious, and they remind me of the simple things and how every person has an amazing story they’ve lived through and sometimes we just need to listen. I needed this, I truly did. Thank you
Joe is amazing
Thank you joe, for providing a bounty of hope in this lonely life.
Hi from South Africa!
Doubt you will see this, but want to thank you for helping to soothe some very difficult times for me. From calming my anxiety to guiding me to some much needed rest. I have no doubt you offer a lot to people all over the world.
I'm glad there are other south Africans are liking this niche material 💌
Thanks! My girlfriend and I love love love your videos. We couldn’t make it to your Tulsa show last month. Hope you come down around Dallas area soon. We will buy you one of the best bowls of soup you’ve ever had!
Much love from Akbar and Sabaa
Where do I get a girlfriend who likes Joe Pera too
Me@@swayzeeeeeeeeee
@@swayzeeeeeeeeeethere are plenty I’m sure. My wife of 35 years thinks he’s great, after I showed him to her. We listen nightly.
When Sunday passed and no video was posted, I was sad. So glad theyre still coming! Can't wait to listen to this one
Joe Pera OWES YOU a schedule!
F you Pera! 😉
joe you're awesome, and also to anyone else reading this, you're fucking awesome too
I love you Joe Pera. Thank you for the peace you bring into my life.
I always had a lot of nostalgia for the 70s decorating books and magazines as my grandma always had a big stack of them from the 60s and 70s and the design styles were just amazing as a kid and the holidays photo spreads of decorating just about everything and the dinner wares were like really impressive as we were never going to do things like that but it was just interesting and neat to see it,even it was just something a well-to-do family with a hired decorator would be able to do.
My parents had quite a few decor items that still are in the old house today, like the big burnt orange upside down funnel fireplace that was totally a 60s/70s thing and odd chrome chandelier made of thin curved pipes and had big white glass spheres for the lights and a big hanging pendulum light ball that is chrome with a basketball size glass ball cover. Had some really cool rocking chairs that were very mod and comfortable, in a dark green and dark orange and golden color scheme, but they let someone borrow it and never got it back.
Just wonderful.
This show is helping me through my crippling Advil PM withdrawals, thanks Joe!
I'm freaking out right now I can't wait to listen to this new Joe Pera video ❤❤❤❤❤
So educational...yet peaceful. I somehow absorb all of the information, without even knowing. What a Gift. I’m glad that you use these forces for good. I love you.
I listened to Joe the whole time I was trying to fall asleep and didn't hear a word he said. Mission accomplished. :)
One of my favorites so far. Fantastic episode. I would listen to you read from encyclopedias every month!
How interesting!
I grew up with key limes in my backyard. All the wood was covered in layers and layers of peeling white paint. The paint on the deck boards was gray -- the only gray I can remember back then; we didn't have much gray. There were no fireplaces in that region, too hot. Once after a sun shower I slipped on the wet gray wood and caught enough air to clear a pub table, but I surprisingly, did not get hurt. However I slipped right into the ocean. A were-angel on vacation from Iowa helped me but he did not let me back on dry land. Instead, he threw rings in the water which he made me retrieve until I learned to regulate my breathing. This way I would never need anyone's help again. We were married that same year. However, we divorced the following year due to an argument over who landed on the moon first -- but I learned so much from him and as you can see, I've not drown. Yet. Ha-ha.
I'm afraid that's where our similarities end, Joe, but it's amazing how the lives of two strangers can parallel if only for a moment. I hope you have a wonderful evening.💜
Thanks so much for this Joe you’ve seriously changed an aspect of my life and I couldn’t be more grateful!
I just had the best nap, initiated by this video. This may become a regular habit.
Nothing but this gentle boy works for me now. He is all i sleep to. I do wish the music was slightly lower volume, i hope thats not rude.
Joe you're a outstanding person. Thank you for this nice and chill content it helps to sleep. 🙂
Should definitely do more like this one, Joe. Relaxing and learning simultaneously is honestly pretty great.
Can't speak to those passages most relaxing in your voice but you di reminding me of the yellow pages.
Joe, as a faculty member at Georgia Tech, I loved your discussion of drownproofing! ❤
It is odd, id never heard the term before and we even had swimming training in elementary school grades, 7-8 where we were bussed to the city indoor pool.
I never had an issue with sinking, i typically had to kinda fight to dive under at first but tended to keep rising. Lol
Anyway, i always learn something new when watching/listening to his shows.
I have tried to listen 3 times to the end, and have fallen asleep 3 times trying. Success!
Just saw joe in Salt Lake tonight. What a treat. I brought my sister and was delighted to introduce a new fan to Joe's work!
The way I would sell every organ in my body to have an episode where he just constantly talks about food
I always get ecstatic about these when they release.
Great job, Joe. Love it. I'm hoping your show will continue... someday soon! Everyone I've shared your show with has become an instant fan and have watched your shows more than once.
I absolutely loved this episode, especially you talking about Maine blueberries.
I was not ready for that Picasso quote lmfao
just binged all the other episodes last night this makes my day
I really liked hearing the alternative speech based on the moon landing. It’s kinda like a chance to look into an alternate universe of what could have hapoened
About 15 minutes in I fell asleep. Its nice to have something genuinely interesting to listen to. Unfortunately autoplqy put on a different video which woke me up. Still fell back asleep in a few minutes. I love the little articles and things, especially Picasso not caring about the moon landing.
You're a real treasure Joe.
The algorithm sent joe my way after several nights in a row of falling asleep to Dr. Katz.
Thanks algorithm. Joe is just as good for that. Slept just as good.
The guest interviews are nice but I like the one on one Joe time as well 👍
My favorite episode by far, could listen to him read anything
Nice
Nice
Home run
Nice
I always love when these drop.
Joe Pera you are beloved
Here is your much-deserved hundredth comment, Joe. Did you ever listen to Prairie Home Companion growing up? You have the same gentle humor and soothing quality of that old radio broadcast.
I've heard music described as having texture but rarely texture described as music. Fascinating.
Sp happy that you make sleep content! These are the best Joe!
Hearing that speech about the Apollo 11 blew my mind! It was surreal, and the music, oh my god.
when he said goodnight, i froze and quickly checked my phone in fear😭 i love falling asleep to these videos
We love and appreciate ya Joe 😊
Listening to Joe reading from the Press Herald. What a treat ❤
Thank you Joe.
I’m in love with Lauren Patricia
My favorite podcast! I feel so good
thank you
I check UA-cam daily for this!
goodnight joe!
YES! LETS MFING GO !!!!! GET PUMPED FOR SLEEP TIME !!!!!
I love these so much!
I haven't gotten a single notification for one of these gems. I think I'm actually mad at a global corporation now.
I have an aboriginal friend whose animal is the emu, they can’t eat emu’s and they and the emu’s are one in the same.
A new episode thank goodness❤️❤️❤️
This worked so well I fell asleep like 6 minutes in last night👍🏻
The shaman joe pera!!!!
Thanks Joe. Sleeping good tonight.
I wish adult swim would bring your show back. I loved your show.
Perfectly for bedtime
i love you joe, i wouldnt be here if you didnt talk me to sleep every night... thank you.

I love you and your work
There are few things I look forward to more than new Joe content
🍅🍅🍅🍅

Sleep to this everynight
Wish we could see you, Joe.
i fucking love joe pera
that last bit is peak recontextualization art
Love you Joe ❤
I have found that place where I belong.. aahhh.😊
Thanks Joe
finally another joe pera video
thanks
That Picasso quote made me laugh too.
This is a tough one lol keep calling asleep
Panicking about senior year but joes gonna get me through it
I love you Joe
How fucked up is it that the moon speech didn't include Michael Collins?
I wonder what a joe pera cough or sneeze sounds like. Would it interrupt the peaceful flow, or wold it melt in unnoticed and add to the feeling of his relax casual friendly nature. 🤧
Ya know, Joe always struck me a Neuromancer superfan deep down.
I have a set of home decorating books too.... somewhere.
Hey Joe?
Thank you. I mean it.
I could listen to him read a menu
The only bad part is that it has to end
Not gonna be like #666...D'oh!
JOE
Joe pera is basically Jeffery dhamer if he picked the good ending
I want to perhaps brainstorm some ideas or recommendations of things to talk about. But I'm too afraid to influence. Also Joe probably doesn't need any ideas.
Thank you joe , really helping this teenage with borderline paranoia I love so much I can kiss you , not in the mouth though that’s gay 😁
I listened to this and instantly fell asleep. Great job!
They put a fucking context bubble on this… seriously.
So happy to be the 18th commenter
I'm really liking the podcast but just a word of advice dont listen to this while operating heavy machinery. I wont make that mistake again.
