I'm glad I came here from the Benchmade website. Someone made comment on the website that the leather sheath didn't have a way to hang on his belt and he was returning the knife. I couldn't believe that. That's why I'm here. It appears the leather does have a loop to run your belt through. Great. I'll be buying 2 of them. One for me and the other for a bd gift.

Ok. The hidden canyon with the black sheath with the leather flaps is THE greatest “scout carry” sheath and knife of all time. I literally don’t know I have it on. And I have a solid fixed blade and I’m never scared about cutting my thigh open. Please make more sheaths like the black kydex with the leather straps!!!!

@@rec0ilhd170 I have a lot of knives lol(way too many) so I rotate my edc pieces more often then most. As much as I like sharpening knives I rarely have the time to so I try not to over use any edc blade for too long so that I always have a sharp blade in my pocket. The ones I like the most are the first to be resharpened. I will say that the Launch 13 is one of my favorites. It’s the sleekest and lightest carry with the most blade length to offer. Being an auto to boot makes it easily one of my favorites to carry. That and it just looks so damn cool and mean. Want to intimidate someone who’s trying to intimidate you? Flick out your Launch 13 and just start cleaning your nails with it. That’ll cool their jets real quick lol.

Awesome knives, Anthony! I don't hunt but I would love to add one or two of these knives to my collection. The scales are beautiful and I love the orange accent. Many of my knives have orange accents or scales. Kurt, you mentioned you've lost knives in whatever activity you were doing. I lost one of my favorite knives while backpacking in Arizona, a Kabar that was gifted to me by EOD friends when I was their medic. Since then whatever knife I take out backpacking or overland camping, I wrap a strip of highly reflective orange electrical tape around the handle...high quality tape offered at Lowe's. I haven't lost a knife or a ferro rod since then.
I need that new leather sheath for my saddle mountain looks the one it came with wasnt designed very well. I definitely want to pick up the Halo version of it !
Im glad that they thinned the blades. I feel my older steep country is too thick and feels heavy and "stubby" instead of nimble and precise. That said, I see that now they have gone to a full grind and there is no longer a flat surface to clamp down on with my sharpener. I sharpened my edge to polished ~28' enclosed angle, since warm pork (pig hunter) needs that "razor". I found that was too tight for my knife as the steel rolled over and dinged too easy. Would like to try higher hardness.
Congratulations on the deal! I'd verify authenticity before sending it home for warranty or sharpening... they confiscate copies. There are more Benchmade and Microtech fakes out there than Gibson and Fender guitars.
Awesome that benchmade was good enough to show us the new and improved innovative way of how to draw the knife from an unattached kydex sheath that's tek-lok compatible that they didn't provide a tek-lok with. Gotta love benchmade.
I've got the old hidden canyon but the scout carry sheath is terrible but the knife is awesome if you want to scout carry it upgrading the sheath is a must because the leather just wasn't great
Purchase the -1 model with boltaron sheath and add loops to it. Can configure that sheath many ways. I carry the hidden canyon -1 on my belt daily. Have never had an issue or been irritated by it.
Regarding the fear of slicing oneself you mentioned when talking about the kydex sheath, is this really as big of a problem as that? I'm new to this and the only knife with a synthetic sheath I have is a Mora Companion Spark and I can't imagine how I could ever slice myself removing the knife from the sheath in the way you show. That said, I always want to do things as safely as possible--and teach my kids the same. I'd love some elaboration on that. Thanks!
Having owned kydex products for both knives and firearms, the only way you would hurt yourself is if you're really careless or the sheath/holster has some egregious flaw but that is very rare.
@@myajumalife That's true. They can be very stiff. But if one is pulling in opposite directions it just seems that one would have to be extremely careless--even unnatural--to yank the sheath one way and the blade the other and then, immediately jab them back together. Having said that, my Mora knife sheath is a tube. Perhaps the Kydex sheaths we're talking about have openings along the sides making it possible for the blade to slide out the edge just enough if the blade is pulled out at an angle? Anyways, thanks for pointing that out!
That steep country looks like the ideal hunting knife for anywhere. Looks like it would have ideal ergonomics. Love the blaze orange. It is too easy to lose a knife after you’re exhausted from a long day and field dressing a whitetail. I’ve lost a Buck 110 that way. I would take this knife and a Buck 110 as a backup knife. Perfection in gear obtained and you didn’t spend more than 170 dollars for two knives.
