I love INNOVATION in hair care and hair color, GREAT products get me excited about the results and I'm all about EVERYONE having the BEST hair they can....regardless of how much money they have to spend.
So when @ClairolUKI reached out, sent me their NEW Colour Strong Zero Ammonia permanent hair colour to test (and test it I did!) and I loved the super shiny, multi dimensional results it felt right to partner with them for the launch!
Not only is the formula easy to use, it's the FIRST of kind to make the hair STRONGER as it deposits the true to tone pigment. Yes really!
The AHA, alpha hydroxide acid based pre color primer and the after colour treatment add strength by helping to repair the hairs bonds, whilst dealing with issues such as hard water or already damaged hair.
All that and it gives up to 100% grey coverage, in 12 beautiful shades.
Home hair colour like never before!

Thanks for watching. Would you like to try Colour Strong? And are you looking forward to the science video..?! *I know I am, ha. 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
Sure I will❤
Yes, please!
@LizbetPCB Wahoo!
@@theworldofcraig yes! I would like to try.
@@theworldofcraig and yes bring on the science video love watching.
The clairol brand is the only box dye that lasts as long as salon. Love them.
With 90 years of research and development in creating hair colour they sure do make great products! 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
Clairol had a NO AMMONIA Shampoo-In Hair Color with a complete Color, Cleansing and Conditioning System that you did not shampoo or condition afterward, it was CLAIRESSE®️by Clairol introduced in 1976 and was pretty amazing. ❤ P.S. It was also Clairol’s first Water - Based Haircolor.
Wow, love that insight!
I wish it was available. My mom used that one and it was so easy for her to use.
Totally trying this. I loved my results anytime I’ve used Clairol dye. And the packaging and names….ughhhh to *dye* for 😉
Clairol has 90 years of research and development behind them, I mean, they know hair colour…so please you’ve had good results before. You’ll love Colour Strong, let me know how you get on. And I see what you did there! 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
@@theworldofcraigThanks for responding! ❤ I certainly will! I have a few colors in my Amazon cart currently…just trying to decide how dark I want to go and which shade would be right. I have about a level 5-6 brown that I’ve recently used Wella’s Color Masks (Chocolate & Copper mixed). My natural is more of a golden brown, so I’m drawn to Cape Town, but should probably use Barcelona to neutralize the copper 🧐
Me too, and I've tried many. Pricer ones as well. Clairol always gives me the best results ❤
@PodieM18 They make GREAT hair colour!
I’ve used it 🙌
Wahooo! 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
I love the look of packaging. So fresh. I used L’Oréal Preference before. Will give 10.0 a try and let you know.
Yes, so FRESH, well said. Oh my goodness, I would love to know how you get on. I just posted a Story over on Instagram with a 10.0 swatch in it, so pretty. Thanks for watching.
Yes, thank you! A video about choosing the best color for me!😍
Ok great, noted! 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
Ooooo exciting! I think I'd try 8.1 probably
Wahoo! That’s a very pretty shade…
I really like the 8.1 and will most likely buy it once it’s available in Canada
It’s a very pretty shade.
I'm currently still trying to use up my Mattrix toners I got SPA and 10PA. But after that I will give Clairol 9.1 a try.
Wahoo! 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
Clairol is SUCH a good brand, such a pity that it is not as easily available here. Great video. Btw, Movida is also a good box dye.
It really is…90 years of research and development! Thank you…and thanks for watching.
@@theworldofcraig Dankeschön for YOUR videos.
Thank you Craig . I’m looking forward to trying this out .
You’re most welcome, thanks for watching. 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
I would love a video about selecting the right color! I would oersonally love it if tou included some problem solving tips, like how to get cool results with hair that always wants to pull warm, even with a deni permanent. 😊
Ok, noted….it is on my list. I do have an entire playlist of toning videos that will help with your other questions
@ oh…. Ok…. I never really considered using a toner on a darker hair color. I will now consider that. TY.
Hi I so appreciate that you always reply. I'm sure you have answered this millions of times but, I have dark brown hair with a lot of gray I have been using Schwarzkof Igora no. 5 for a year+. In Aug I decided to stop using permanent color and I switched to their Vibrance line. I also felt my hair was getting too dark so I've been mixing half 5 half 6. My question is, I still need to do my roots every 3 weeks, my hair grows fast. I am also noticing that beyond the roots the color seems to be fading toward yellow ish. Is that because its demi permanent color and its washing out? When I color, should I apply past the roots to the 1-11/2 inches that have the demi permanent color? Thanks so much for all the good info on your videos Pamela
Of course, thanks for watching. Yes, it’s down to the Demi being more translucent and not penetrating the hair so deeply. You can overlap, just be aware that it will “build up” the pigment.
I’ve ordered 10.0. Thanks for the wonderful advice.
Wahoo! Please let me know how you get on…you’re most welcome. 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
I liked perfect 10 but intrigued by this new option
I’m not familiar with that one..? It is a fantastic formula, thanks for watching 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
I love the conditioners found in box colours but where can I buy more???? IS IT AVAILABLE IN CANADA??
I mention them in many of my videos - look for formulas with amodimethicone, that’s what gives hair the slip.
Thank you❤❤
You’re most welcome.
Looking forward to the science video! Clairol is upping their game. These look lovely.
Yay! They sure are.
Really? I can’t believe it. I am buying the lightest shade right now.
Yes, really. I tested the product and got the low down on the science before agreeing to partner with Clairol. The science is coming in next month’s sponsored video.
That is exciting Craig! I am happy for you😊 I did see Colorstrong on Amazon USA - don't know if they had all the shades. St. Tropez or Malibu (did see Malibu on Amazon USA) would be ones that I feel like would suit me. Maybe the other blonds as well - computer color transmission can be tricky. I may try highlights with one of the blonde shades or perhaps really get up the nerve & go global blonde😀 someday. I was light blonde as a kid - got darker with age. Me & a friend in school - would compare each other's hair getting darker by the year. Yes, I find that I do like that packaging!!! A strange lady isn't starring back at you - while it is on the shelf. However, I did almost buy the Garnier box dye with Drew Barrymore - partly because she was on it. 😄 I think faces do work for selling - if it is a recognizable face - that is likeable. Some of the henna that I would buy - during my henna period - had lovely animals on the package. LOL! Enjoy your week - thank you for sharing & looking forward to your next video!!
It sure is Annie! Thanks for sharing your insight and for watching…stay tuned for the science! 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
Love the colors Craig!❤ Thanks for sharing. I have porcelain skin with dark honey eyes. What color do you suggest? 😍
So pretty right?! It’s really hard for me to help with exact shades remotely…the /0 neutrals would be lovely. Remembering the starting “canvas” always plays a part in any result.
Hi Craig, great videos and thanks for your advise on home dyes which I haven't seen anywhere else. I have grey hair and I use Nutrisse dark blonde, which colour on this range could I use?
Hi there, thank you and thanks for watching. That’s a tricky one for me to answer remotely, there are many factors, the biggest being your personal preference. The /0 shades are the natural tones, so if that’s what you’ve been using I would perhaps suggest one of those.
I first thought this was going to be about the new L’Oreal Universal Nudes (which are now being advertised in the USA). My question about Color Strong (also seems to be available in the USA now) is does it lighten hair as well as cover resistant grey? I went to the Clairol website and couldn’t find the answer. Thanks for all your wonderful videos!
It has also launched in the US, that’s right. It will lift the hair and cover grey simultaneously, yes. Of course the result depends on the starting “canvas” and what shade is chosen. Thanks for watching.
Sounds like Revlon Color silk. Less expensive but I wish I could buy the conditioner.
Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean…?
Yes more info please
Science video coming next month - there is more info on the Clairol Colour Strong website.
This looks great. If the blending I try this weekend doesn't do everything I need, I'll definitely give this a try next. I'll have to figure out which shade of brown I'd want though, since the blending isn't as precise as actually coloring my whole head. In a choice between medium or dark brown, would it be better to go with the med. one knowing I can go darker later if I think it looks too light, or the other way around?
It’s a fab formula for sure. I would suggest starting lighter for blending…you do often have to drop down to get more of a blend though.
Craig, Boots do not sell all shades, in fact they do one shade only! The 446, red i am looking is no were to be found!
Hi, they are all on Amazon…
Hi Craig 👋. As always another great video. I'm 100% grey and would like a cool light blonde, which one would you advise . Also do I put the primer just on the roots when doing root touch ups. 🥰
Hi Anne, thank you and thanks for watching.
Very tricky for me to advise on shade remotely - that said, if you’re 100% grey, pick the shade on the box that you like, your result will be similar. The primer goes on the mids/ends of the hair always, not the root. Let me know how you get on.
Wondering if it will be good for afro hair? 🤔
For sure! The primer and treatment are for all hair.
@@theworldofcraig great stuff, I'm sold.. where would I likely to be able to purchase?
Most likely, it will work. There is no such thing as a hair dye that works for only 1 hair type. It's all chemicals and chemicals don't decide if they are going to activate depending on if your hair is curly or straight. If you have hair follicles that can be opened/closed, you can dye your hair with anything. It's just a matter of how well it will show up depending on how dark your hair is.
@galaxytrashbag475 Yes, it’s an exchange of energy and a process of oxidation.
Hi Craig, would you know what level developer it uses?
It will be the same as pro formulas.
Since it's no ammonia, can you use it with a 10vol and make it a Demi permanent? Would that even work? I'm excited that you are excited about this product. It must be good 😊
I would never suggest mixing any home colour with anything but what’s in the box. Thanks for watching.
Sure I would ❤
Is it available in Europe?
At the moment the UK and US.
Craig do you know if their neutral 5 6,7 run on the warmer or the cooler side?
Such a great question! I’ve just posted a story on my Instagram that shows 3 of the /0 shades - in my opinion they are neutral, not cool and not warm.
How is this different than Shades EQ. Can this color formula give a "translucent " effect, rather than 100 percent coverage?
It’s completely different - it’s a permanent, zero ammonia hair colour. Shades EQ Gloss is a demi permanent hair colour.
Sounds good, I use Wella KP 6 permanent to do my roots. How would this differ from that, other than KP is a proffessional range and this is for use at home? Thanks Craig
KP is an ammonia based hair colour, Colour Strong is ammonia free. The result as far as pigment would be similar in my opinion - the main difference being the primer and treatment.
@@theworldofcraig Oooh thank you, in that case I'm really looking forward to your science video now! 👍
I used to color my hair and have had highlights and lowlights in the past. Because my hair is extremely fine and now thinning, I am scared to experiment with color or highlights now. My stylist described my hair as a “salt and pepper” color, but I think it is getting more salty by the day-HA! I have finally accepted and embraced my “tinsel tresses” and I would be absolutely fine with being a shiny, shimmering silver. Is there a way to color my type of hair without losing what hair I do have? Will it help the strands appear thicker? I know that coloring hair can be damaging, and I already have curly, frizzy hair. Any ideas or suggestions shared would be very greatly appreciated. 💙
Colour Strong is a permanent hair colour - so not for you if you want to fade away. I do have a video here on my channel from last year that tells you how to add shine/tone grey hair semi permanently.
@ Thank you so much! I will see if I can find it.
I think I found the video-thanks again! I know you cannot provide specific guidance without seeing someone’s actual hair, but in your expert opinion do you think hair color (if done properly with a quality product) can give fine hair strands the illusion of thickness and fullness? This has been a energetically discussed topic amongst my friends and I.
@SJ_The_Corgi_Mom Great. Hmmm, not really - permanent hair colour does “swell” the hair very slightly and things like Shades EQ Gloss add things like wheat protein that make it feel a little thicker when it’s freshly done.
@@theworldofcraig Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. It sounds like maybe a product that thickens and adds volume might be the way to go for me. 💙
My hair doesn’t seem to like clairol or wella but does great with garnier/ L’Oréal or even Sally’s ion or Schwartzkopf why would that be do you think? Wella and clairol look inky and fade faster but the others do not . Is there something different about them my hair type doesn’t blend with ? I have medium density fine/medium hair level 6 natural
Hmmm, it could be just down to shade choice…? All the lines differ slightly on level/tone.
Is it similar to natural instincts, as this is what I’m currently using to cover a small amount of grey hair I’ve recently acquired ☹️ Is it also a semi permanent colour? How long does the coverage last for? X
It is a permanent hair colour, it’s not the same as Natural Instincts.
Hey come visit in Cape Town😜👍🇿🇦
I’d love to! 👨🏻🙏🏻💙
I use Nice and Easy 5rb. It covers grey. Do you think this new product is better? Also, i eould be so grateful if you could let me know a good root touch up product that would work for 5rb? Thank you!
It’s different and the formula is updated science, so it’s not really a case of it being “better”. When you say “root touch up”..? I would always advise using the same colour but mixing up less, measuring out exactly with a digital scale, then sealing up the tube/bottle tightly for another touch up.
@@theworldofcraigthank you! I really appreciate you answering. I do do that, it is a relief to know that is what you would recommend. I was just hoping for something to make the gap between having to touch up roots longer. 😊
I’ve heard as you age it’s better to use warm shades since skin tone can become dull. Is that true?
It depends on many factors, such as skin tone, eye colour and personal preference but generally yes, a warmer tone can be more flattering.
Is this similar to other ammonia-free box dyes? And is it permanent, does it "lift" or not??
The formula and innovation are unique and the science is new. It is permanent and yes, it has the “energy” to lift, it is a permanent hair colour. Thanks for watching.
4:20 Same. I know pretty models help sell products, but if it's hair color I'm buying, I need the hair to be the focus, not the model's face 😂
I’m of the same opinion for many reasons, thanks for watching.
HI Craig! Why is it that sometimes the darker numbered colour looks lighter, it makes it very confusing to choose the right tone, like in your swatches Cape Town is lighter than Roma?
Hi there, it could be my lighting..? It’s clearly darker in person. Remembering that we do all see colour differently. Thanks for watching.
I wonder how this compares to the Colour Studio range, where you have to buy a bottle of primer separately 🤔(Made absolutely no difference to the longevity!)
The science is new and different. The primer preps the hair and deals with things such as hard water/damage, then the treatment further helps to strengthen and add bonds to the hair. If hair colour is fading it’s not always down to the product used.
@ Ooh thanks for your response! I wonder how long this would hold up on my greys - this is what I have trouble with!
@Sophwaffles Of course, you’re most welcome! It offers 100% coverage, whilst being reflective, so it’s not solid/opaque coverage but it should fade off grey hair - I haven’t tested it on grey but you should be good.
Hi, does this dye contain peroxide?
Yes, all permanent, oxidative hair colour uses peroxide as the activator to make the dye go into the hair.
@ ok thanks xx
Ooooooh!
Yes, indeed!
Dang! I’m allergic. I was so excited 😢
Sorry to hear that, thanks for watching.
The website says it's formulated without ppd or ptd but better safe than sorry
@ I checked the website, it said if you have a known allergy you still shouldn’t use it and the conditioner has the preservatives I’m allergic to. It’s in the Natural Instincts conditioner, too. Since Natural Instincts color will come out of the hair if you don’t use the conditioner, I’m on the hunt for a new color line. Since no other demi will cover my grey, I probably have to go back to permanent. (I had to quit using Natural Instincts for a few years when I went natural, I went back when they reformulated) I did ask Wella to put their 12v developer in Sally Beauty. I’ll see how that works out. 🤞🏾🤞🏾(I’m sure that is way more info than you expected haha 🤣)
@bluebird1694 That’s right, it is (I do mention that in the video) but even without those other dye ingredients can cause an allergic reaction to people that are sensitive to PTD and PPD
