I love the entrances, the weapon wheel, the abilities and fighting styles, going into the crowd with weapons. But the thing that hooked me like no other… the SOUNDTRACK! I loved it even as a kid and still do to this day. It’s hard to listen to because it makes me miss those times, but man is it a great choice of music!

The weird thing about the Benoit thing is that despite removing him from this game, he’s still the icon for the high flyer ability. It’s a silhouette of him doing the diving headbutt.

Yes, he has killed innocent people but both are very different, especially since Hitler did more than just “murder”. WWE aren’t erasing him from history or acting like he doesn’t exist. They just don’t want to promote him or make any money off of him after what he did. They’ll mention him when they absolutely have to. I have no idea what you mean by 30 years of prison time.
@@Deathpool_04 WWE has avoided mentioning him completely, and I actually agree with their decision. We're talking about a man who committed 2 brutal cold blooded murders on his own family, especially your own wife and son! I'm not gonna offer any possible excuses for him and his actions. This dude gave his son animal growth and drugs. This dudes a sicko

I think he’s too important as both a wrestler and what he did in his final days but I don’t think he should be in the hall of fame or anything. Still, I don’t blame them for that decision. If Benoit was really that “good, honorable, and respectable” guy who loved the business and a supposed “family man”, if that man ever existed, he’d be fine with WWE’s decision. He didn’t give his son animal growth. That was actually a mistake. The needle marks or his son having “fragile x syndrome” was proven false by his sister in law on Jericho’s podcast. He did drug his son before killing him though. For whatever reason he may have had as to why he’d kill him, he tried to kill him in a way where he wouldn’t feel it and that was to drug him with Xanax. He didn’t kill him with the crossface either. It also seems like he regretted killing him since there’s proof suggesting that he tried to bring him back. Not saying that’s an excuse or makes what he did any better. I wouldn’t say his son’s death was “brutal”. How he killed his wife was brutal though. I hope you respect my opinions on Chris Benoit since it’s difficult to talk about him without things getting too heated. The roster was deep, the different modes and characters creation was pretty deep for its time. I loved how you can actually do chair moves like the ddt, pile driver or heel kicks And how they'd favor a body part that was worked on throughout the match
Yeah, they kind of did the same thing now with the current AEW game, with managing days off to avoid fatigue and injury. So definitely ahead of its time.

This is honestly my favorite wrestling game of all time. People get too caught up in the lack of features which is understandable ... but from a pure gameplay engine perspective svr 2008 tops every svr .... plus it was Jeff Hardy’s first appearance since SYM !
This game was amazing and to me the last good one in the SvR series. I get it downsized the roster and took away some features but it was still a good game nonetheless I need to get this game again.
You are so entertaining I'm literally addicted to watching your videos before bed after a long day of work, no joke. Thank you for all the time and effort you put in for us :)
Same, me and my best friend have been cool since we played this game with each other as 7 years olds, I hated Batista and undertaker because they were overpowered as fuck😂💯
6:00 undertaker doing a 30 minute entrance 😂😂. That's not even that bad though. I remember that in svr 2011, some entrances were so slow that the music had to loop
I’m happy you talked about how lazy the 24/7 mode was. I seen the lifting weights cutscene, the high fiving and divas scene about 100 times each. This game had so much potential since it followed SVR06 and SVR07 and it was so disappointing.
Yeah I was paly as undertake and I got no cutscenes until one run when I was Champ and there was a story line where a diva was cheating on her boyfriend and then cheat on my is her ex and then I was in a movie story line with rowdy Roddy piper
This was the first wrestling game i played when i was 11 back then i had no idea what wrestling was, i played it and i immediately fell in love with wrestling and started watching it in 2007 and i still watch and play wwe games to this day
I liked 09 better I liked attacking people before and after matches forgot if you can do that in the games before 09 since I haven’t placed since they were out
I started watching wrestling in late 07 after Survivor Series. It was the night Y2J returned. He immediately became my favorite and when my friends birthday sleepover happened I remember being so pissed Chris Jericho wasn't in it. But the Legends definitely make this game shine over the 2009 edition.
I think it was due to limited roster space (I would have preferred for them to just avoid using legends personally, especially since the 24/7 Mode was so repetitive due to its habit of putting you against the same 1 or 2 people for weeks on end). As far as WrestlingGIF's comment about the midcard being weak, I'd say that it was more of a case of the WWE just failing to book many of them to look strong.
*Miz, Balls Mahoney, Shelton Benjamin, Kevin Thorn, Big Show, Jamie Noble, Londrick, Matt Striker, Test, Deuce N' Domino, Cade and Murdoch. It really was weird to leave them off the game...*
@@eastwaters4082 Big Show had retired temporarily shortly after losing the ECW World Title to Lashley so it makes sense for him not being there. I agree about the others though.
This was also my game man, can still remember walking home with my mom from blockbuster and playing that shit all weekend cause we could only rent it at the time. she bought it for me later and poured my childhood into this game. Jeff being in this game also made the game that much better for me too.
I remember being 8 years old and being so disappointed that Chris Benoit wasn't in it. And then was disappointed so much more that Shelton Benjamin wasn't in it
Yo I really liked this game. 2007 was my favorite year of wwe. WrestleMania 23 was my first and favorite wrestlemania of all time. The soundtrack was awesome as hell, Jeff hardy was back, etc. My only minor complaint of this game was the removal of Chris Benoit. I know why he was removed but I really miss him.
The presentation was really slick on this game, The new models looked amazing and yeah you're right - They absolutely nailed the entrances. I remember being so excited for Jeff Hardy alone but the revamped weapons & dives breathed a bit of new life into the game that had started getting stale after '06.
I think one of the things that helped make the THQ games better than the 2k ones was the current rosters at the time. Like when I think about buying the new ones I only look at the Legends in the game. The guys working today just don’t have whatever it was that the guys back then had
Truth to that dawg. You could put on 4 5 star matches and get a show rating of a 4, and the other shows could have 3 vacated matches, a 2 star match and a 1 Star match and they be out here getting a show rating of a 5.
At that point I just start putting every rivalry in Parking Lot Brawls with the top guys in interview spaces for both promos (the greatest ‘fuck it’ move) 😂😂
2008 was the first wwe game I’ve ever owned. I will never forget ripping the drink out of a poor audience member’s hand just to utilize it in the matchup!
I played the hell outta this game years after it came out. One of my favorite games mainly because it took like 5 mins to finish a match compared to now where it take 30 seconds if it's completely one sided.
I’ll never forget the story modes in 2009 they were so much fun. Especially the cm punk and the Batista and Rey mysterious one. I used to play on the wii and you swung the remote and Numb chucks to fight it was so cool
@@jUAN.T well you never know. Nobody knew for sure that the PS5 would be backwards compatible with the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. Hell, we still don't know for sure, but again, you never know!
This was such a good game I played this for hours and hours on my Ps2 back in the day using guys like Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, Triple H, Rey Mysterio in buried alive matches, Hell in a Cell, Last man standing the 24/7 mode was fantastic truly great game.
Man i wish to see svr 2008 remake with extra features such custom music , more wrestlers, more moves , more story line , also choice made by player 100% so you can defend yourself good not losing in cut scenes 😞💔
"What more could you want" Me: the sandmans cigarette and him to be busted open And new Jack(for those that don't know new Jack he's a crazy motherfucker
This game was the last good SvR game (besides 2011) to me. I don’t understand why this game gets so much hate it was a really fun game sure it’s roster isn’t great like old games but this game was really fun I need to get this game again. Edit: Did anyone notice how dark this game was compared to 2007?
The change in the submission system made submissions more diffcult plus the number of submissions availible was greatly decreased compared to 2007 and 2006 . the fighting styles made movesets limited .GM mode lasts one year then restarts afresh without you carrying over stats
My favorite wrestling game of all time right here! The soundtrack, the game play, the roster (while lacking in many) still had all of the superstars I actually wanted in a game like MVP, Jeff Hardy, Sandman, Cryme Tyme ( I was a fan of them), the second I hear "you wouldn't know" I instantly get taken back to the hundreds of hours I spend making CAWs and scouring the CAW.WS website, The CAW system was so good in this game to me it made up for the lack of superstars cause I just ended up making them all anyways and being able to do sound files for entrance music made it feel like they were never omitted anyways. Take me back man😭
bro i feel the same. it might not be my fav of all time but its up there and i spent so many hours playing this even for the WII! and then later i got its for xbox it was so cool. and the soundtrack is the best soundtrack ever!. and i also agree we can simply make anyone who was not in the game :)
This was one of the first games I played online and definitely the FIRST wrestling game I played online. Loved when I used to DOMINATE with Lashley online. Even made a friend online that I chatted with on MSN messenger...yeah we're old folks.
WrestlinGifs- I agree with what you said about 18:11-18:19. What you said around 18:15-18:19 was twice as true because I would just make up my own matches/etc. & basically play the role of "fantasy pro wrestling booker", as well--especially in Create-A-Story in 'WWE 2K14', or, with my customized roster in 'WWE SmackDown! VS. RAW 2006' after winning the trophy in General Manager mode, for example.
The Submission one was OP too. You automatically got out of submissions (don’t remember if it was lack of damage or having your ability stored) you would heal during submissions. And if the submission targeted a part that was even just yellow they’d often tap if you used the ability.
BROOO, this was my first game when I started watching wwe in 2008. Since sandman wasn’t a wrestler anymore in 08 I didn’t know who he was yet. So when he came out me and my nephew used to think he was pouring actual sand into his mouth. That’s what it looked like. We were like wtf, this man is spitting sand 😂
This game is what got me into watching WWE when I was a kid! I actually played the demo which motivated me to get the game and made me choose Mysterio as my favorite wrestler for years! I freaking loved the crowd interactions and extreme rules, TLC, and hell in a cell matches! And yes, I did play online. People kept assigning this weird headbutt move to the strike button, which would stun opponents and prevent them from being able to attack or reverse. Such a broken move that I also used! Lol To this day, this is still my favorite svr. Side note: I also played it on the Wii! Very weird but still fun experience with broken motion controls! SvR 09 Wii was definitely the biggest improvement of the platforms that, unlike 08 Wii, actually had online!

@@XQueen_Lunaa The only idiots I see are you fanboys who are kissing THQ's ass. How you all are bitching about 2K is exactly how we felt about THQ during the PS3/360 era of WWE games. SVR2007 doesn't hold up, is glitchy as fuck, and is a massive step down from SVR2006. SVR2011 was fucking terrible. It had some good elements but THQ/Yukes moronic decisions dragged that game down ALOT whether it was removing moves, the movesets being half assed, the AI was the drizzling shits, and only getting one running strike as opposed to two. WWE'13 was okay at best but I didn't care for the faster gameplay that was in WWE'12 to 2K14.
I really tried to like this game, but it turned out to be the last wrestling game I ever bought. You mentioned that SVR07 was the end of an era for you b/c you were growing up. Well, a ton of gamers and wrestling fans during that era were college aged, and we pretty much felt the same way. The quality just declined.

having eddie, neidhart , slaughter and holly NOT be in the console versions is a pretty boneheaded move. also, kevin thorn, ariel, matt striker, paul london, brian kendrick, lance cade and trevor murdoch should have been in the game too.
This game honestly felt slightly unfinished, like it could have used another month or two to add more cutscenes and polish 24/7 more add some more wrestlers, and modes, etc

Same, me and my best friend have been cool since we played this game with each other as 7 years olds, I hated Batista and undertaker because they were overpowered as fuck😂💯
My first wrestling game I EVER played in my Wii svr08 and Nintendo ds
I had this game on the psp and I didn’t even know that Eddie Guerrero was a psp exclusive until this video lol
The original games really hit different.
This comment aged very well wwe 2k22 IT HITS DIFFERENT
6:00 undertaker doing a 30 minute entrance 😂😂. That's not even that bad though. I remember that in svr 2011, some entrances were so slow that the music had to loop
Bruh that possum pin animation legit used to put the fear of god in me 😂😂
Lion O'Ryan LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 SAMEEEEEE

When a wrestler wakes up out of nowhere and quickly rolls you up for a pin. The animation when they wake up is like something out of horror movie lol.
I’m happy you talked about how lazy the 24/7 mode was. I seen the lifting weights cutscene, the high fiving and divas scene about 100 times each. This game had so much potential since it followed SVR06 and SVR07 and it was so disappointing.
Also, I’m so happy you reviewed this game bro. I knew it was only a matter of time.
Yeah I was paly as undertake and I got no cutscenes until one run when I was Champ and there was a story line where a diva was cheating on her boyfriend and then cheat on my is her ex and then I was in a movie story line with rowdy Roddy piper
the reason why it was so lazy was probably because some cutscenes had chris benoit in them
@@Hugh_mongus1 The 24/7 mode was trash
This was the first wrestling game i played when i was 11 back then i had no idea what wrestling was, i played it and i immediately fell in love with wrestling and started watching it in 2007 and i still watch and play wwe games to this day
Unpopular opinion but I love 08, it’s my second favourite wrestling game after 07.
I agree but I may be being biased considering I played svr 2008 the most
I liked 09 better I liked attacking people before and after matches forgot if you can do that in the games before 09 since I haven’t placed since they were out

@@javi994 they were great but not as much in comparison to Smackdown Shut Your Mouth-SVR08. 2K15 is where it all truly started going to shit.
2006 to 2009 were everything to me as a kid. I definitely played 08 the most though i loved it. Wish playstation would add any of them to classics
Jeff hardy had a mixture of his moves and Sabu’s moves on svr 08
I started watching wrestling in late 07 after Survivor Series. It was the night Y2J returned. He immediately became my favorite and when my friends birthday sleepover happened I remember being so pissed Chris Jericho wasn't in it. But the Legends definitely make this game shine over the 2009 edition.
Still to this day I’m wondering why some wrestlers that were active on the roster were not in the game like Paul London and Brian Kendrick
There Entrance was in the game.

Already know this bout to be fire and full of nostalgia
This was also my game man, can still remember walking home with my mom from blockbuster and playing that shit all weekend cause we could only rent it at the time. she bought it for me later and poured my childhood into this game. Jeff being in this game also made the game that much better for me too.
I remember being 8 years old and being so disappointed that Chris Benoit wasn't in it.
And then was disappointed so much more that Shelton Benjamin wasn't in it
"2020 is going to be a big year" boy those words sound so ominous now
Yikes. That quote aged poorly.
Lmaoooo it had Undertaker beat his own wife(Michelle McCool) in a match😂
The presentation was really slick on this game, The new models looked amazing and yeah you're right - They absolutely nailed the entrances. I remember being so excited for Jeff Hardy alone but the revamped weapons & dives breathed a bit of new life into the game that had started getting stale after '06.
I think one of the things that helped make the THQ games better than the 2k ones was the current rosters at the time. Like when I think about buying the new ones I only look at the Legends in the game. The guys working today just don’t have whatever it was that the guys back then had
They have gotten horrible with adding legends. The idiots of 2k instead make packs out of current superstars, smfh
The hardcore specialist ability also HEALS you.
Hitting yourself in the HEAD with a STEEL chair EIGHT times HEALS YOU...
Love these retrospectives. Nice niche nostalgia.
Fun fact: I only ever owned these on PSP as a kid.
Bobby Lashley was Goldberg In Here Comes The Pain level OP in this game 😂😂
True dat but nothing will be either Goldberg or Brock Lesnar in hctp those bastards have me such a hard time as a kid🤣
Thuhin Ahmed Goldberg reversed everything. Goldberg felt like a 100 overall
Thuhin Ahmed i told anybody who picked them they straight up cheating

I HATED facing him in 24/7 mode during the your character vs ECW feud
The ratings was so messed up in 08 gm mode I literally had to boost all my guys to 90+ popularity just to have a chance at winning
Truth to that dawg. You could put on 4 5 star matches and get a show rating of a 4, and the other shows could have 3 vacated matches, a 2 star match and a 1 Star match and they be out here getting a show rating of a 5.
@@Shrekboy567 yea that's why I mainly play 07 gm mode

I played the hell outta this game years after it came out. One of my favorite games mainly because it took like 5 mins to finish a match compared to now where it take 30 seconds if it's completely one sided.
I just realized everytime a wwe game is released 3 days later the arena changes
not true but ok
Leakee13 I meant that when a 2k releases a WWE game we get new arenas or characters in WWE that can’t be added

Tonal wise or just in terms of lighting?
Keiji Johnson it might be the change in lighting
SVR 2008 was very enjoyable! Reminds me of soo many good nostalgic memories ;)
WrestlinGifs- Was that Earl Hebner literally kicking Triple H while he's down around 9:45-9:49?...
If so, when did this take place?...

My first SVR, so many memories and hours played. Last game when you can play Diva Vs Superstar
The last game you could do intergender was the one straight after this, SvR 2009
@@donavondavis1550 That's true! Still plaing all the Series SVR
I feel like everyone I knew growing up (including me) had Smackdown vs Raw 08. My family didn’t even watch WWE but we still had it lmfao
My favorite part is the commentary. Mainly for when you taunt, steal finishers, & make your opponent bleed lol.
The Submission one was OP too. You automatically got out of submissions (don’t remember if it was lack of damage or having your ability stored) you would heal during submissions. And if the submission targeted a part that was even just yellow they’d often tap if you used the ability.
I remember being 9 years old and seeing it on commercials and posters all over gamestop... don’t ask me what I ate yesterday though!
The final ruthless aggression game. Automatically a winner.
The game making The Undertaker wrestle Michelle McCool cracked me up so much. I totally forgot how wild 08 GM mode was
This game is what got me into watching WWE when I was a kid! Lol
To this day, this is still my favorite svr.
Side note: I also played it on the Wii! Very weird but still fun experience with broken motion controls! SvR 09 Wii was definitely the biggest improvement of the platforms that, unlike 08 Wii, actually had online!
THQ and Yukes are the reasons why WWE even had good games. If THQ hadn't went through what they did we wouldn't be having gaming issues right now 🤦🏾♂️💯
Well yukes did leave in the middle of 2k20's Developnent but it's still baraley in beta

@@ericdxfan511 uhm did you forget 07? You know... The BEST svr game? Or svr 11? The second best? Or you know... Wwe 13? Also made by thq? Are you dumb or what bro
This was the last wrestling game I played too until 2k16 was free on Xbox with Gold. Fell off with wrestling completely around that time and it seems the games did as well.
I was born in 1994. I got into wrestling in 2001. I was there for all of the best wrestling games. Back when we were kids my brother and I would have all the other neighbor kids over during the summer and we would hook the tv and PlayStation up in our garage. Nothing beat running those Armageddon Hell in a Cell matches! I’ll never forget those days.
Rewatching this video years later and see it's near a mil! Good shit Pav!
Do a video on WWE All Stars. That was, and still is, my favorite wrestling video game.
It was fun because the wrestlers were on steroids
That game didn't look very good tbh. But I guess I should try it at least.
