As much as I love HCTP I would have to say this is the best Smackdown Game in the series. The realism , the gameplay, caws and story contribute to make this game Legendary.

So much nostalgia for this one, I think it was the first WWE game I got whenever it was new & it was & still is a genuinely good game. Got it for PS2 back in the day & enjoyed the heck out of it, if only the newer WWE games could put as much content & effort this & the older games had.
This was my first PS2 WWE game. Prior to this, my last WWE game was Smackdown 2 on PS1. So for me... this was a huge step up. Issue was that I stopped watching wrestling in about 2001 so I had no idea who half the roster was 😅
@@MR.__G every thing u can imagine from gameboy color up to ps2 and even games like svr 07 on xbox 360 and also some ps3 titles run very smooth on the deck plus new games like wwe 2k23 or nba (from the steam store) are absolutely playable. maybe do some research on the deck, watch some videos so u can make up ur mind about it. From my experience i can tell u that i was hesitant at first because of the price tag but having one console with all that nostalgia in it is simply amazing. Never regretted that purchase. The only tricky part about this console/PC is the start with the deck because u have to install a bunch of things but there are lots of tutorials here on yt that will help u.
I would say around the time, they probably were short on taglines. There was no Rock putting out catchphrases left and right. SvR "Hustle Loyalty and Respect" or SvR "Lie cheat and steal" doesn't quite flow, and some of the guys on top at the time didnt even really have a catchphrase (Batista for instance)

I played SvR 2006 for a while and it was fun during my college years. 2007, 2008, 2009 were out and I was still playing it. Had various CAW sets/rosters on 2006 like TNA, ECW, ROH, CZW, NJPW, etc.
Here it is... my favorite PS2 wrestling game. And definitely in my top 3 wrestling games of all time, regardless of generation. GM mode monopolised many hours of my time... it was the first wrestling game I was really able to play since before my daughter was born in 2000, so I got lost in GM mode big time... in fact, I still regularly check in on (and play several matches of) my over 15 year old Gm mode save! I've been looking forward to this one for quite a while! We definitely need a WB GM Mode series!
This was THE definitive Smackdown(vs raw) game for me, I created characters I still make to this day in the 2k games and loved getting all the trophies in the lockerroom, I was so excited to see you finally get to this game! Great vid!!

I played almost every WWE game from Wrestlemania 2000 all the way up to the one on 3rd gen consoles that was super nostalgia baiting the Attitude era, but SDvR 2006 was always my favourite. The way it played felt really good, the first game with their updated creation engine that they'd use for years after, all around claimed a special place in my heart.
In terms of strictly the SvR portion of the overall series that started in 1999 with _WWF SmackDown!_ , SvR 2006 is by far my favorite. I remember having tons of fun by not just playing all the game had to offer out of the box, but using a CodeBreaker cheat disc to unlock NPCs (J.R., Eric Bischoff, King, Tazz, Teddy Long, Mr. McMahon, etc.) for use in matches, and also it was the only way to unlock Jake “The Snake” Roberts without hooking up a PSP to a PS2.
@@SRC267 I prefer ’06 to ’07, personally. All 3 you mentioned are great games though. Can’t go wrong with ’11, it was the first game to have Universe mode, just like how ’06 introduced GM mode. Universe mode is basically GM mode on steroids, for lack of better phrasing.
I was obsessed with CAW in this, especially to make characters like Sagat and Alex from Street Fighter, and my own original characters with their own storylines. SvR 2006 was the last wrestling game I truly enjoyed until All-Stars. The AKI/THQ titles will always be the GOAT, though.
Oh man, that Teddy Long cutscene at around 14:24. It's been almost 18 years and I still remember the dialouge. "I hate watching her leave, but I looove watching her go". The delivery of this line was by far the best piece of VO work in the entire game...

SvR 2006 was exactly what the WWE games needed. The old SmackDown! engine was old and stale, as SvR proved. So the 2006 edition changed alot for the better. The graphics got a huge overhaul and the rest of the presentation as well. Loved this game, played a ton of hours in this game until SvR 2007 released.

An absolute gem of a WWE game its the SDVR game I have the most memories about. Was too young to really understand MyGM mode at the time and *_damn!_* that annoys me to no end! Sidenote: *_The Trophy Case in Career! Why did that hit my Nostalgia Switch?!_*
This is the best Smackdown vs RAW 2006 is so much better than the wrestling games today. Controls were simple and effective, controls in the wrestling games today are too complicated and unnecessary.
Honestly looking at those character models they look great and made me realise there is NO WAY over 15 years worth of progression between this game and the most recent character models in the 2k games
The fact that the options menu lets you take off new features if you want and doesn't penalize you in the story modee makes it amazing alone.
The soundtrack on the svr games were so good. First thing that I think of when it comes to these classics.

An absolute gem of a WWE game its the SDVR game I have the most memories about. Was too young to really understand MyGM mode at the time and *_damn!_* that annoys me to no end! Sidenote: *_The Trophy Case in Career! Why did that hit my Nostalgia Switch?!_*

SmackDown vs raw 2006 legendary game
This is the best Smackdown vs RAW 2006 is so much better than the wrestling games today. Controls were simple and effective, controls in the wrestling games today are too complicated and unnecessary.
the fact he shows the EXP cheat active after the first season mode match, makes this video even more great :D

This was the last wrestling game that felt like Christmas come early.
Honestly looking at those character models they look great and made me realise there is NO WAY over 15 years worth of progression between this game and the most recent character models in the 2k games
This game was the goat. My favorite. Svr 05, to 11.
