- Survivor Series 2005 is an all time great PPV in my opinion. Maybe it’s the nostalgia or whatever but I love his PPV. How could you have not been hyped for the first ever Smackdown vs RAW Elimination tag match? This was a special night. Then you add in Triple H and Flair and Cena vs Angle? It was lit. So lets go back to 2005 and take a look at this PPV.

The Raw v Smackdown Survivor Series match is an all-time classic with both announce teams bickering like crazy and as usual, Randy Orton scored his third consecutive win in a Survivor Series match...only to be spooked by a royally pissed off Undertaker who came back after Orton backed him near the titantron using Eddie Guerrero's lowrider

@@heavyhitter5538 WWE is not as good as it was especially with pro wrestling's popularity declining, listening to people with the same complaints over and over and over again is becoming redundant and sometimes just gets too much like some people wishing Vince should just die. I remember back then some people use constructive criticism but nowadays, it's more like losers trying to sound cool and edgy on the internet for something that is meant for entertainment, meaning fi you're not entertained, why not just grab the remote and switch channels and if you're gonna give your grievances on the product, make it sensible and not just something to fish for likes.

-Batista
-Brock Lesnar
-Eddie Guerrero
-Randy Orton
-Rey Mysterio or JBL
Batista probably wouldn't get pushed if Brock stayed

Thing is only reason Randy was on the team was because of Eddie's death. Eddie was originally on the team not Orton.
Remember back then we had a Survivor Series tradition in my household. We made a big BBQ Party, Beer, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Hot Wings and watched Survivor Series 2005 in the backyard with a Movie Projector connected to the Cable Box.
We used to do that for all the big WWE PPVs. We still do it for some MMA or boxing events but the last one we did was McGregor and Mayweather.

I love Shawn Michaels, my favourite wrestler of all time. But Smackdown had always had that spark, there was just something about it. It seemed like it always had the better talent.
I liked Smackdown because they always took you in before Raw whenever you played a Career mode in the video games.

The only time SmackDown vs Raw truly felt like a war between the two brands. Two strong GMs, two brands with great top stars and lockerroom leaders as world champions. Plus the final chapter of Evolution with Triple H vs Ric Flair in a vicious gimmick match, last man standing to be precise. And one of the best storylines of all times, Undertaker vs Randy Orton, with that awesome comeback moment from a burning casket after Randy set Undertaker on fire in one at No Mercy.
That was WWE storytelling at it's absolute finest! If only that kind of consistency and brutality could make its way back into today's product.
I remember RAW vs. Smackdown 2005.. my whole entire family were talking about it and brought the whole family together every show.
From 2002 to 2005 the brand split was legit and it was awesome, after that WWECW was added Eric Bischoff and Heyman were out of the company and the brand split went to shit.
The brand spilt still worked well in 2006, I wasn’t until early 2007 when the brand spilt started going to shit

I was a Smackdown guy thanks to him. He introduced me to WWE during his championship reign.
But, still the Pay Per View back then, was fucking lit and I was rooting for Smackdown to win.
Speaking of Smackdown vs Raw, remember that time after the 04 draft on Raw, when Trips was "drafted to Smackdown" after he and Eddie had a match at the main event, Smackdown and Raw lockerroom came out and started brawling...

Funny story about this show. So this show was in Detroit where I lived and I was like 8. Weeks before anything was announced and before they were doing the qualifying matches for the teams, a local commercial popped up and showed all the participants in the match (this was before Eddie had passed so he was in it) and me thinking wrestling was still real and always live it had me super fucked up lol.
The ruthless Aggression era tops anything I've seen in the 2010-2019 block. Man I miss it. Awesome video. One of few PPV’S I bought the DVD for

I feel like WWE got rid of the brand split because SMACKDOWN legitimately felt like a better show than RAW once guys like The Rock and Stone Cold left the company and Undertaker moved to SMACKDOWN. I still remember SMACKDOWN superstars constantly main-eventing almost every PPV, especially Taker at Wrestlemania. That's why WWE sabotaged SMACKDOWN and took most of their stars during the annual drafts because they couldn't have their main show be overshadowed by their "B show". But they really overdid it because now no one really gives a shit about SMACKDOWN anymore..
No they got rid of the brand split because they didn't have enough roster to work two separate shows. The reason they did the brand split in the first place because they had a lot of wrestlers on the roster and couldn't put them all on one show. So having two seperate shows made more fresh stars and it worked for a time.

The Shady One i feel like as soon as SmackDown! starts becoming better on RAW they end up doing some dumb shit like the Wildcard Rule or having SmackDown! people come on RAW or RAW branded ppvs for one night
Considering that Eddie was supposed to be in the Raw vs Smackdown match here instead of Randy, and considering that Randy and Shawn were the last two men in the match and also the fact that Eddie and Shawn were going to have a match in Wrestemania 22, That makes me wonder if this would be the first thing to build for there potental match in Wrestlemania 22 if Eddie was still alive. Just a thought.

I've been recently revisiting a lot of the Survivor Series shows from my dvd collection and i rewatched this one from 2005, you are definitely right, Raw and Smackdown really did feel like completely different shows. I was always a Smackdown guy through and through during the Ruthless Aggression era as they were always about putting on a good show and it was about the talent unlike Raw where it was just one big repeat show of Triple H on a weekly basis with very little change. The main event of team Raw vs team Smackdown was fantastic, it really did feel like a clash of two worlds colliding and even the commentators from both shows couldn't stop arguing lol I also thought Undertaker returning to scare Orton was a great way to end the show and seeing him in the ring debut his new attire with a full beard just made his return even more epic. Overall a good solid show.

Survivor Series 2003 and 2005 were the best survivor series PPV events ever. Along with 2001, 2007, 2014, 2015, and 2016. And my favorite survivor series PPV event is SurViVor Series 2002.

I didn’t start watching until 2006 at the end of the ruthless aggression era. You could really feel a shift in quality a couple years later. I was in kindergarten then and I wish I could’ve been a few years older and started watching in 04 or 05

Probably because they did a lot of Supershows at that point, taping SmackDown earlier in the night on Monday and then airing RAW live right after. I can confirm this for the 03JUL2006 episode of RAW when Edge won the WWE title in the triple threat, as the 07JUL2006 SmackDown episode when Batista returns from his injury and just murders Mark Henry. Philadelphia, PA--Wachovia/Wells Fargo Center. That was such an awesome night, and I had no idea Batista was returning till I saw the promos during the show breaks.
