I own a New 3DS XL and have been looking to downscale to the smaller one for a while now because the large size no longer feels comfortable in my hands.
Awesome. Now I kind of want a 3DS alongside my 2DS XL. Lol. I live in Taiwan and actually it's not too hard to find them used on our shopping platforms. The only problem that I'm faced with is that my 2DS XL would probably no longer see much use and I don't go out too much. If I had someone in my family that would play the 3DS library of games and DS titles, then I would probably grab them a 3DS second hand as a gift. I can really see the appeal though with the smaller form factor and sharper display. For somebody who needs to go out a lot and really need something extra portable, the 3DS all the way. Great video!
i got my girlfriend an og 2ds not long ago and she’s loved it, they make a good gift, now to buy her a switch lite for christmas so she’ll stop stealing mine 🤣
I’d recommend picking up older units now to play with your kids one day when they’re old enough; even if you don’t have any yet. The Switch is too large for true on-the-go gaming.
Ive had a 2ds xl since it launched, used it a load ton, it was the ultimate Pokemon machine. Lol but my a button starting messing up, it still works but I have to press down harder then the other buttons. I decided to buy the sun and moon 3ds xl, I managed to get it for an inflated price, not to much , but I'm pretty satisfied with mine, its sleek and the build quality is way better than the 2ds xl one. It came pretty minty too lol I also overpayed for a boxed PokeBall 2ds xl lol
Finally someone acknowledges pixel density. I don't know about anyone else, but XL screens irritate me because I can see black in between the color red.
Like the face plates. Hope you're still gaming on the system. I still game on my NEW 3DS XL. I know the whole world is Switch bound(which is fine), but it doesn't replace the 3DS. Both could've co-existed easily. Oh well..
I was able to find a fairly new New 3DS on Facebook Market Place for $200 including the charger and three games. He originally wanted $300, but after some time and talking, he accepted my offer. Don't be afraid to send in an offer or negotiate! I bought a travel case, screen protectors, and stylus pack for an additional $20 on Amazon. I've got my old DS LITE and DSi with a good amount of games that I look forward to using again just on a newer model. I wanted to get the system because our phones don't exactly have Animal Crossing, Fossil Fighters, or any Mario games that I want to place again. :) Childhood memories as well. My brother, his bestfriend, and myself all plan to do a local co-op on our DS's, so that's going to be a lot of fun!
To each their own but I’ve always found the screen size on the original 3DS to be just too small. I felt that way with the OG Gameboy, the Gameboy Advance, and the launch DS. Maybe it’s just years of looking at massive tvs, smart phones, tablets, and the like but anything smaller than what’s on the XL just feels punny. But he’s not wrong, the image will be shaper on the smaller models. But I’d take overall visibility of sharpness any day. Besides, if you want a sharp image, the 3DS line is probably not the device for you.
I own New 3DS XL and great I used to play lots of games but only focus on SMT IV and Kunio River City, I previously own original 3DS Japan which has bit slower but louder sadly I sold it as 70% price than I first owned it.
My problem with this model is….. the battery I noticed lately that it cannot last full hour before going red I believe because I have been using it since 2017. Is the battery the same one as the 2DS? Why do i still play my 3ds? Atlus games baby
I also own this system, but my worries are the battery. It seems easier to find replaceable batteries for the XL, while you seem to have to go third party for the New 3DS. Everything else, this is my favorite 3DS.
I was lucky to bid on the last minute 3 years ago and get it for $80. I actually wanted an new xl. The person didnt do their research, and the 3ds wasnt an xl(if I actually knew the differeces in models at the time I would have actually known this dude was wrong lol) it was the same model you have but white with colored buttons. I have a normal 2ds before this hacked, so when I got it I was surprised to see that not only was it hacked but it was the Japanese version. This person didnt list none of that but oh well I changed the language, and can change it back at any time. It was such a steal!
got paid yesterday and managed to get one for £105, i haven’t had a 3ds since 2016, although i have played my girlfriends 2ds, so i’m quite excited to play all the games i used to play as a kid, the og 3ds was my first console 🖤
It still has this problem unfortenetly. I keep a micro fibre cloth between the shells when it's closed to prevent it from getting worse. It's beyond me how Nintendo never fixed this.
Ummmm…. I hate to burst your bubble, but that is not a guarantee. The only model I know of that will for sure give you dual ips screens is the hyrule edition of the new 3dsXL. That’s got to be checked to see if you won the “3ds lottery”. Either tilt the console to see if the blue charge indicator turns green (this would mean you have a twisted nematic top screen). Or use the “3DSident-GUI” if your 3ds has homebrew installed.
@@classicnut6655 To be fair, the comment was more directed at the video creator. He said, “they look gorgeous” in referring to the screens, but made no indication of getting both screens, or how lucky he was considering how hard it is to get both by chance. Since he got it in person, you would think to mention that he was shocked to find a dual ips screen 3DS in the equivalent of a garage sale. This leads me to believe that they did not know there were different variations and he most likely has one or both TN screens and just doesn’t know about it. Honestly, I was also hoping you would say that there was another way of finding dual ips screens, but the hyrule edition seems to be the only version that 100% always has dual ips screens. If you do know of any other indicators, I would really appreciate the info.
@@sias.2569 ahh gotcha. I agree. And yes Hyrule is the only one that is almost 100% as I think I have seen TN in that model as well. The Pokémon 20th anniversary has a good chance. I am fortunate to have one. I do not like the Hyrule edition. My favorite XL is the the New XL Pikachu. So I just bought a black New XL with dual IPs and paid to have the screen swapped by a professional. It looks so good on that yellow console with multi colored buttons.

Uhh i got the new 3ds black, but the console os really small u know if u wanna get 1 (because it looks the best) get it with a grip
Same but does the N3DS feel too small or is it a good size for people without bigger hands?
I’ve *always* preferred the smaller size to the XL. The larger model defeated the ability to actually put it in my pocket or a zippered compartment
The New Nintendo 2DS XL felt like my hands were uncomfortable when I used it on April 8
I was an og 3DS XL owner back in the day, but for me, the N3DS has the best design in a handheld ever

This is also my issue lol. I have a New XL in great condition and recently bought a N3DS.
I no longer use the XL and I kinda feel bad about it.

The matte black on the new 3ds looks so much better then the glossy new 3ds xl.
I’m mainly buying one to experience my childhood again, I loved Mario and Luigi superstar saga.

Thank you! Pixel density is often overlooked. I'll take a magnifying glass and check if I have a similiar issue with one of my XL models.
@@reviewrattlesnake It's especially an issue with the DSi XL, due to the screen size being that of a 3DS XL but with the resolution of the regular DS.
I honestly consider this the best 3DS model. It made my top 5 handhelds. In fact, it made it to number 2 on the list.
My favorite 3DS model is the ice white launch model. May not be the best 3DS, but in my opinion it’s the best looking
I have mine 2017 2ds XL and new 3ds on 2016 japanese version and the 3D on new 3ds is more stable compare to the old 3ds.
Sweet! Any of them modded?
I got one with the Mario themed wooden cover plates a couple of days ago. Definitely prefer it to my New 2DS XL.
Have you replaced the C-Stick with the PSP-1000 analogue stick cap yet?
1:25 I just realized that coverplate is of mario characters in cameo color its not just random patterns which is actually kinda cool

The “New” 3DS has a 1.2x bigger screen than the original.
Not a huge leap but the “New” 3DS is better in every way.

Yes, it is kind of a struggle. Im very glad that I got the standard size one for a good price. It was really just luck.
I’m got interested in the 3DS market because I found my old Nintendo Luigi year 3DS XL.

Idk. i feel like ebay is flooded with scams. i’m trying to find one myself
I found a used new nintendo 3ds xl on facebook marketplace for 150 usd
That looks exactly like my 3ds lol same face plate and everything 😅
The prettiest faceplate of them all! ;)
I looked on ebay and most of the 3dss are the Japanese ver. Does that make a difference?
The 3DS has a region lock so you would be only able to play japanese region games, unless you Jailbreak the console.

It's no surprise 3DS is superior to 2DS because of the 3D effect.
also hardware (2ds xl has cheaper hardware)
