nice video, small correction though, there is no port of 3d land on the switch, only 3d world which is a wii u game/sequel to 3d land that got ported to switch, 3d land is only available on 3ds atm. also remember the pricing, if you plan on buying it to try out and use the 3d effect, then get the "new" models only, the og model and 2ds is great for people just wanting to try its catalogue, but the 3d effect is very bad on the og model compared to new (like very bad, especially without an ips screen, like move your head 1/10th an inch after spending 3 minutes trying to fnd that right angle and distance, and its just a blurry unplayable mess, barely usable) best to keep it off on old models), and the price difference and findability of used new models can be quite large, and since people know this, 3ds's can be found around 90-130 if your lucky, but dont expect to find any "new" models under 170, averaging closer to 200 nowadays, with very few games utilizing the new 3ds features (less than 10 released in store games using it), only really applicable to homebrew stuff due to the better hardware inside ps. also its worth mentioning,if you want to play ds games, try to find a dsi xl, ds games look very bad on the 3ds compared to the dsi (and even the og ds), with the game only taking up 2/3rd of both screen and somewhat blurrier than intended, or blown up to fill screen with tons of filters you cant disable that make even text hard to read its so blurry, the dsi has ips screens always, and doesnt have this issue, plus is also easily moddable, ds games work on 3ds but makes them look worse than on og hardware by a large margin
If you have a computer and a microSD Card Reader, you could get a Japanese New 3DS for a good amount cheaper and hack it to remove the region locking. That’s what I did recently.
I was lucky enough to have bought most of the models at launch, but I did get a 3DS LL in white from Japan last year. With the inflated prices it's hard to justify buying one but if you do, you have access to the entire DS and 3DS library if you are savvy enough to hack it (and it truly is very easy). There is a homebrew eshop equivalent and a homebrew equivalent of the online servers that were shut down (pretendo network).
Bought a brand new 3dxl that was pushed back in a corner behind New Switch consoles and games, OMG I saw the edge and asked to have the shelve unlocked and low and behold a new 3dxl new galaxy style in 2019, I still have it in the box put away never used it yet. I still play my Zelda Mask 3dxl.
I got a used orginal Japanese 3ds for little less than a 2ds just yesterday. So far im loving it, i owned a switch oled, and prior to this a psp and ps vita in terms of portable handheld consoles. Honestly the 3d effect is really good and honestly emulators cant emulate the 3d on your average pc/laptop making it a solid choice Also since the OG 3ds is less desired than the 2ds so its cheaper and has more features (in the end i still ended up paying 60% as import duties even free shipping and my region is India if your wondering)
I still have my galaxy model New Nintento 3DS XL that I bought back in 2017. It's my favorite console because it can play both DS and 3DS games. I'm keeping and treasuring mine forever.
I collect video games and especially collect for the 3ds. I’m just missing the flame red out of all the original 3ds models. I’d like to get ice white aswell. I love all of them. They are my favorite systems
I know its been a month since this video uploaded, but i was wondering what the best place to buy a 3ds is exactly. Ive been wanted to play pokemon black 2 and dont know where to start whe buying the console. Any suggestions???
I bought a "new" model but requested a cancel for the order because apparently it doesn't take full sized SD cards... Which I went and get... And then threw the packaging away. And I don't want to spend another 10 bucks for a 64Gb micro SD. Is it still worth buying a new model or should I get an original XL? I might go to a Game XChange or GameStop tomorrow and see what they have to offer.
@@reviewrattlesnake Is the new model really worth it? I don't imagine any gain in performance when the only games I play are Monster Hunter and Animal Crossing.
@@awildfurret that's good to know. I'm actually in the market for one. Apparently my original XL has "water damage", according to a shop I left it in to repair the circular pad.
I recently got a new 3ds xl in good condition for $200, didnt know about ips screen one, so had to have that, paid $500 for a great condition red dual ips that was hacked. Then saw one from japan for $100, so got that one, and foind it super easy to hack, and gave it to my bro, if I were to go back in time, i woulda just got a cheap ips japanese one from ebay and hacked myself
The standard New 3DS model wasn't released initially in the US and Canada, only the XL. The first smaller sized New 3DS available was, I believe, a special edition Animal Crossing version.
No. There's no more games being made for it anyway. But yeah tons of fun games for it. Online was killed for it though. So at this point it's just for the fun factor.

I made a mistake not buying a 'new' model when it was available and now used 'new' models are more expensive than they were when new!
I almost sold my Pokemon 20th anniversary edition.

Would be worth it if used models weren't so damn expensive!
That's what I'm saying! Exactly
if you're willing to mod it i recommend buying a used model from japan! they're cheaper

I have 2 red ‘new’ 3ds LL from Japan. Might mod both.
Why are the xl ones so common and easy to find while the smaller new 3ds is super hard to find? I prefer the smaller one. It's more pocketable.
I am not sure either. I suppose it was sold more often as many people prefer the larger screen.

Can I use my us games on the Japanese version
The 3DS is region locked, but you can change the region with custom firmware.
Homebrew it and then it’s possible. Very easy to do, you can find a guide online easily, but don’t use a video guide
